Chapter 14- Family Secrets

1444 Words
Lucas’ POV Great! More Gods…just what this stupid f*****g peace summit was in need of. Lucas had hoped that his last encounter with the ‘Almighty Zeus’ would be that last one, but of course his luck has run out. And at the most inopportune time too! Lucas’ gaze moved from where Zeus stood arguing with his wife and over to where Summer stood, watching the arguing play out with interest in her eyes. Lucas’ eyes soften as his gaze lands on his beautiful mate. It would be easy to regret coming to this s**t show of a peace summit, but if he hadn’t then he never would have met the lovely Summer and finally gotten what his heart has been longing for. A voice in the distance pulled Lucas’ thoughts away from his mate and back to the situation he has found himself in. “Is it just me or is there something going on with those two over there?” Mischief flashes in Hades’ eyes as he looks between Lucas and Summer with interest. Zeus quits arguing with Hera momentarily so he too could look between the two wolves standing a few feet away from each other. Lucas risks a glance in Summer’s direction, finding the blush that coats her cheeks adorable. He resisted the urge to go to her and wrap his arms around her protectively, sensing that there was more to Hades’ observation. “What the hell is this?” Zeus’ voice booms throughout the clearing, sending a flock of birds scattering from trees in the distance as everything around us suddenly goes quiet. “What have you done?” Zeus asked, turning to look at Alpha Antonio stiffened in place, his eyes moving between the two of them as understanding suddenly dawned in his eyes. “I..I…I had no part in this. I swe-” Alpha Antonio’s stuttering was cut off by Zeus’ firm grasp against his throat. His angry gaze stared down at Alpha Antonio, the scent of his fear permeated the air, the sickening smell suffocating for those around him. “Please don’t harm my father.” Summer’s quiet voice fills the silence, surprising everyone with the lyrical sound. Lucas groaned inwards, readying his body for a fight if that asshole God decided to turn his wrath on her. Zeus turned his attention in Summer’s direction, his gaze softened slightly at the sight of her, something that was surprising to everyone, especially Lucas. In all of the years that he has had interactions with the God, he has never seen him look at anyone like that, except for his lovers, or his children. Lucas’ body stiffened suddenly. Could Summer be one of Zeus’ lovers? She seemed the type that he would go after, not that that is saying much considering he will go after anything that has a p***y, and even some with c***s. Lucas set his gaze back in Summer’s direction to study her reaction to him intently. Summer’s lip quivered slightly, giving away the fact that she is terrified to be speaking to the God, but not wanting it to show. Zeus suddenly dropped Alpha Antonio, causing him to fall to the beaten down grass with a resounding thud that echoed through the woods. Alpha Antonio let out a quiet whimper as his body hit the ground, but everyone ignored him, their eyes locked on Zeus to see what action he would take next. “This worthless Alpha is not your father, little girl.” Zeus’ voice came out so quietly that without his enhanced werewolf hearing, Lucas would not have heard it. Please don’t say what I fear you are about to say. Please don’t be the father of my mate. That would be the worst news of the day and a revelation that Lucas was not sure he could handle right now. “Don’t.” Alpha Antonio gasped out. “You promised.” Zeus twirled around, his angry gaze once again meeting Alpha Antonio’s pathetic, cowering form. “You have broken your promise for the last time so why should I keep mine?” Zeus growled down at him, sending a bolt of lightning to land near his feet which resulted in a yelp to escape the Alpha. ‘I apologize for pushing for us to come here, Alpha.’ Beta Sebastian’s voice floods my mind, his attention fully on the scene playing out in front of us. ‘I’m surprised those witches haven’t flooded the scene.’ Sebastian’s words reminded Lucas of the fact that Alpha Antonio had the area surrounded by witches and many guards. ‘They all probably ran away scared at Zeus’ entrance.’ Lucas’ snarky reply earned a chuckle from Sebastian. ‘Why did you push this Sebastian? The real answer.’ Silence floods the link for a moment before the sound of Sebastian’s heavy sigh floats through. ‘I was told that what I was looking for could be found in their pack.’ Lucas’ eyes widened at the information, a newfound understanding settled in his gut on the reasons behind this useless peace summit. Sebastian has been searching for his missing mate for a very long time so Lucas couldn’t blame him for pushing for this meeting if it meant he would finally get her back. Lucas understood better than most how lonely a long life can be without your mate and he would have been more inclined to the meeting if he had known. A gasping sound pulled Sebastian and Lucas from their private conversation as they clearly missed an important part of the conversation between Summer and Zeus. Summer’s eyes darted between her father, Zeus, and her mother, disbelief clearly written on her face. What in the hell did I miss? “Tell me it isn’t true.” Summer’s pleading voice whispers in her father’s direction, her hand pulled up to her chest, clutching over where her heart lies. Whatever she was told has caused her great distress and Lucas wanted nothing more than to take her in his arms and hold her tightly, but something kept him rooted in place. Alpha Antonio looked up to his daughter with regret in his eyes. “You have to understand the situation I was in.” He pleaded with his daughter, but she moved back a step, putting more distance between the two of them. Hurt crossed Alpha Antonio’s face at his daughter’s rejection, making Lucas all the more curious of what he missed while talking with Sebastian. “Did you know about this as well?” Summer turned her anger on her mother, her voice grew in volumn with each word she spoke. Luna Rose turned her disbelieving eyes in her daughter’s direction before snapping it back towards her mate. “How could you do this to us? To me?” Hurt coated her every word. Alpha Antonio, the coward, avoided his wife’s gaze, instead choosing to look towards the ground that he still sat on. “If that is the case.” Summer pulled her lean body to its full height, her unwavering eyes moved to glance in Lucas’ direction. “I would like to go with my mate. If he will have me.” The last sentence came out with a touch of uncertainty. Lucas’ heart swelled with joy at the knowledge that his beautiful mate was choosing to go back with him to his pack. After all of this time, his pack would finally have a Luna and Lucas would finally have a partner to help battle the loneliness. “You have found your mate?” Luna Rose’s excitement broke through Lucas’ thoughts. He pulled his attention away from his mate and turned in the direction of a very angry Zeus. What does he have to be so pissed about? Due to his distracted state, Lucas didn’t notice when Summer moved to stand beside him. Her hand touching his hesitantly is what drew his attention to her presence. A beamins smile spread across his face as he took her hand in his and placed a gentle kiss to the top of her hand. Feminine laughter erupted in the distance, the sound of hands clapping together filtering through the quiet like a beating drum. “This has turned out more perfect than I ever could have planned.” “Do not start, Wife.” Zeus warned. “There is no way a daughter of mine will be mated to the likes of that treacherous King.” The sky darkened to a menacing color as lightning flashed ominously throughout the darkened sky. “Did he just say daughter?” Lucas asked out loud to no one in particular.
