“He loved me and I love him so much. We had hours and hours of talk of anything under the sun. We even joke around.”
Avalon squeezed Princess Alexandria’s hand and tried to pacify her, but he knows she is so much hurting. He wanted to embrace her and tell her that he will be by her side no matter what happens and he will protect and care for her.
There are times Princess Alexandria would be silent but tears would still roll down her cheeks. The Avalon’s dream came, Princess Alexandria leaned her head on Avalon’s shoulder.
“I am tired.”
“Would you like me to bring you to your room?”
“No, let’s just stay here.”
And Princess Alexandria closed her eyes while she leaned on Avalon’s shoulder. Avalon delicately cared for her and she was able to rest. She felt safe and assured in Avalon’s arms that she slept. She was tired throughout the night and her crying.
Avalon felt responsible for her now that her father is gone. He knows that she will long for her father, one thing that Avalon can not give to her. But he is very much willing to take the space in her heart left by her father. She rested in his arms for almost an hour, then her mother, Queen Anastacia looked for her. Nanny Leonila called her and told her to go to her mother.
“Mother.”
“Alexandria, are you alright my daughter?”
“I was on the patio with Avalon and I didn’t realize that I fell asleep.”
“I know you are tired. Would you like to go to your room and rest?”
“Can I stay with you, mother?”
“Of course, my daughter.”
“And she stayed in her mother’s room and fell asleep.”
Meanwhile, Avalon waited on the patio. Because he didn’t get enough sleep as well, he was tired and fell asleep, too.
Then, when Princess Alexandria woke up and her mother wasn’t in the room, she went to the patio and checked on Avalon. She saw him sleeping while he sat on the bench. Her mind reminded her of how he took care of her and how concerned he is about her welfare and her heart softened and opened up. She is starting to fall in love.
She went inside and asked the chambermaid for a pillow. When she was given a pillow, she placed the pillow under Avalon’s head. But he woke up.
“I am sorry I fell asleep.”
“It’s okay, just go to sleep.”
“Will you be alright if I go home for a while?”
“Do you want to eat first?”
“Are you eating as well?”
“If you are?”
“Then I will go after we eat, just make sure you will eat.”
“I will.”
And the chef prepared the Princess’ favorite food so she can eat. She hasn’t been eating well since her father got sick, and people inside the castle are getting concerned about her health.
The dining table has been prepared for three because Princess Alexandria requested her mom to join them. She is also anxious about her mother’s health. They both love her father so much that it pains them so much to realize that he is now gone.
Her mother came but took off shortly to prepare for visitors. Avalon made sure that Princess Alexandria ate and after which he asked permission from the Queen with respect he went home.
Princess Alexandria walked around the castle. Looking at each room where she and her father had memories of laughter and quarrels.
In one room, she remembers their quarrel when she went out with friends, but a guy who courts her came along. The King doesn’t like the guy and he asked Nanny Leonila, a bodyguard, and their chauffeur to pick her up and bring her home. She got mad because she was embarrassed in front of her friends. But now she understood why her father was mad for, after a year or two, the guy impregnated several girls and never married or accepted their child. He also became a drug addict.
In another room, she recalls that her father surprised her with a bike that she can only use inside the castle. She was even bought all those protective gears. Her father lives her too much.
But after reminiscing her memories with her father, he missed Avalon’s hand holding her while she cries and his embrace to ease the pain, and his shoulder to lean on. She’s falling for him and she can’t deny it. She called Nanny Leonila and talked to her.
“Nanny Leonila, do you think Avalon is a fine man?”
“Your parents think so, I guess he is.”
“You think our character will be harmonious in the future?”
“Avalon seems to be kind and loving.”
“What if he changes?”
“What a second. Are you falling in love with the guy?”
“Is it love when you miss him?”
“Why do you miss him?”
“Well...he would always hold my hand when I feel sad and he would embrace me when I cry.”
“So maybe you’re falling in love.”
“When is he coming back?”
“Tomorrow is the first viewing of your father’s remains. He might come. Do you want me to call for him?”
“No, he might think that I am missing him.”
“Aren’t you?”
“I don’t want him to know that, Nanny Leonila.”
“I will think of something so he would come tomorrow.”
“Thank you Nanny Leonila.”
And she went to her room to rest and sleep.
The next morning. The guest's hall has been prepared for the viewing of her father’s remains. An entrance has been made for the people to line up and look and exit on the other end. The King ng has been a very good and know nd King who took care of his people with love and concern. The castle knows that a lot of people would love to come.
At nine in the morning, people were lining up outside. They want a glimpse of the King before he is gone. When his remains came and the front has been arranged, the guards assisted people in coming in.
Some people cried, some told stories of his goodness to them, some people even brought gifts for the Queen and the Princess. Flowers came from his friends, family, other Kings and Queens, and other countries as well.
Two days have been scheduled for the commoner to view and the last day for the family, and friends of the Kingdom ng and Queen.
Early morning, Avalon gave Nanny Leonila a bouquet for Princess Alexandria.
“Nanny Leonila, just to give her some gladness.”
“Aren’t you staying for the day? It’s the first day of viewing.”
“I have work, Nanny Leonila. Can I come in the afternoon?”
“Please come at lunch so she may eat with you.”
“Would she like that?”
“I am sure.”
