Chapter 1
I wake up feeling the ray of the sun to my face, I reach for my phone and look at the time, it’s already 6:40 in the morning. I quickly got out of bed fixing the covers a little bit and took a shower. I just put a simple mint green dress with white shirt and a snicker shoes. Then I finally I look myself in the mirror I put some hair pin on my hair and letting the rest of my hazel nut colored hair flow and a little highlights will do on my face I put my on my I. D. and grab my sling bag. Satisfied with the way I look I hurried downstairs to join dad for breakfast I hope he doesn’t leave yet. Thankfully he’s still in the table reading newspaper, he always wakes up early every Monday. “Good morning dad”, I smile as I greeted him. His emotionless eyes meets mine as I sit beside him. “Morning” he replied with a tone voice. As I look at him I can’t remember when was the last time he smile, probably when mom was still alive,.. (flashback) he used to be the warmest person I know, when his with mom, everything’s fine as if happiness could never end. Now, he became distant and firm. He always tells me what to do. And I felt suffocated because of his demands. Even so I still love him and don’t want to be a disappointment. I just think that what ever he tells me, he’s just doing it for my own good. I’ve seen the pain he felt when mom died. And somehow to ease it up I never say no to what he says even if being the top of the class, or playing violin or being good at sports would make him happy, I’ll do it. After all, I promised mom to always listen to dad and be good. (end of flashback).. “You’re coffee miss”, thank you, Nelly and smiled at her. I took a few sip of my coffee and then dad suddenly folds the newspaper his reading, I’m going to the office now, Take care dad and wave my hands at him. You too he simply added and called for Emil he’s driver. Sigh.. I can’t even have a simple conversation with him. What’s wrong miss? Nelly ask while pouring water to my glass.. Oh, it’s nothing I reassured her “come join me for breakfast, and call Mrs. Beck, Mr. Brown and the others, it would be nice if we all can eat together. Yes miss she cheerfully replied . A few seconds all of them started to greet me. “Good morning miss, Mr. Brown smiles at me. Morning, Mr. Brown. Let’s eat while the food is hot. I look at everyone with smile on their faces. Mrs. Beck who sits right next to me suddenly ask is it okay with you miss that we join you. I chuckled.. Of course I’m happy that all of you are here, I won’t be lonely eating alone and it’s a long table it must be occupied. It’s been days since I come back home after graduation. Dad insisted that I should be here and work in his partnered hospital. You’re very kind miss.. We all miss you. I too Mrs. Beck. Thank you for preparing our food. We both smiled at each other. … thank you miss it was a lovely breakfast I’ll just wait for you outside when your done. You’re welcome Mr. Brown.. then, all excuse myself. Mr. Brown is my personal driver although I know how to drive, dad insisted to do so. He’s been in the family since I was born. He attended some of my school events when dad is on his business trips. I’m grateful for him and to Mrs. Beck they treated me like their own child.
