Chapter 2
As the figure drew closer, she could feel her wolf unsettled and she could hear herself telling her inner wolf to clam down even though she was palpitating herself.
Mia picked up a small kitchen knife to defend herself, she had trained herself those times while she is alone in her chambers how to use the knife. Being a weak omega, the only thing she can do was to learn how to use a knife.
She had always believed one day the need might arise for her to use it at least, that's the least she could do living her lonely life. She just did not except today would be the day she would have to use it with the reasonable excuse to defend herself.
With Mia turning her head slowly, she was faced with the alpha king Stephan for the first time and she could not help but admire his physique. He was dripping wet with a riding towel that was loosely wrapped around his waist.
His cedar and his mist scent enveloped her and she realized she couldn't move and she did not know when the knife fall off her hand. She felt drawn to him instantly in a way she has never felt before.
Mia's head tilted upward admiring Stephan's body for his head to his toe and as her gaze locked, her green eyes with his bright black eyes. She felt as if she was melting under his gaze as she blushed.
Stephan cleared his throat making Mia snap back to reality.
"And who are you… and what are you doing in here!," Stephan asked with reaction mixed with anger and calmness.
Mia lowered her head in shame after realizing that Stephan caught her checking him out.
"Aiden told me to clean up this room and when I came in there was nobody inside while the door was unlocked. I apologize for disrupting your personal space" Mia responded.
"You still have not answered my question, I said who are you?" Stephan asked again but this time more mean and direct.
"My name is Mia….. I do most of the cleaning around the pack house" Mia responded trying to look confident.
Mia couldn't move from her spot as Stephan was so close to her so she hear his breath.
"Your name is Mia? and I have not seen you before?..... Why should I believe you… who knows you might be an imposter being sent to accomplish a mission. Nobody can be trusted anymore these days…." Stephan responded while he observed Mia's expression
"Excuse me?….. I would never lie about who I am" Mia responded looking at Stephan right in the eyes but she couldn't help but feel a soft spot for him.
"And who are you by the way to accuse me of impersonation" Mia asked without any reservations.
Stephan let out a dry laughter and Mia could hear him snarl lightly before closing the distance between them making her breath faster.
"Who doesn't know who I am in whole of Isolde of crescentmoon pack. You could be killed for questioning my identity Mia!". Stephan replied as Mia could feel the rage from his inner wolf.
Mia looked down to the ground wishing it could open up and swallow her when she realized she was talking to the alpha king Stephan. Mia could feel his aura wrap around her, knees slamming into the tiles in the large bedroom.
"I am…. I am… sorry alpha Stephan for questioning you" tears ran down Mia's cheeks as she tries to catch her breath when he knelt down in front of her and gripped her chin. Not right enough to hurt her but enough to make her look at him.
"You are done cleaning yeah?" Stephan asked Mia
"Yes, I am done cleaning". Mia answered and she could feel a pain in his eyes but she could don't know what was the problem.
"Then, get out right now. Leave!" Stephan said raising his voice at Mia.
He released his grip on Mia as she shakily pulled herself back up just as she stood up, grabbed the dirty linens and walked out of the room.
Mia knew in as much as she is drawn to Stephan, marrying him might be a mistake judging from the fact that they started off on a wrong foot.
"Is this who I am betrothed to as his Luna?.... Someone who is very cold and domineering?" Mia asked herself this question aloud.
As Mia walked to the kitchen still lost in her thought, she was snapped back to reality by the head omega walked towards her direction.
"Here, eat something" the head omega offered Mia.
"Ma'am"
Mia was surprised to be offered a good meal by the head omega as she was already used to eating leftovers or little foods. At first, she hesitated before collecting the food.
"You need to eat well…. You will be getting married in few days time" the head omega told Mia.
Still reeling in confusion, Mia walked to the corner of the kitchen to eat her meal, attempting to be out of everyone's way as she eat her meal.
"I have to speak with my father, I cannot marry Stephan" Mia thought out aloud.
Stephan was under pressure to get a luna and bore the pack an heir otherwise he would be dethroned. As the alpha of the crescentmoon pack, his responsibilities towards the pack comes first even before his feelings or emotions.
"Alpha, you have to get married as soon as possible. You can't run away from this" Aiden told Stephan as he was discussing with Stephan in the room.
"I have to kill him, that way I would have peace" Stephan responded in a ferocious tone.
"You know killing him is against your power as the alpha, taking his daughter will do " Aiden said trying to pacify Stephan.
"I am only marrying his daughter to bore me an heir which afterwards I will make her life miserable. I will make her pay dearly for her father's mistake" Stephan said.
"You should meet her Alpha Stephan before the marriage" Aiden said.
"I am not interested in knowing who she is, all that matters to me is seeing her in pain!" Stephan replied with so much anger and revenge wildly expressed in his reaction.
Mia met her father in his quaters still going through an agreement letter.
"Father, I cannot marry Stephan" Mia said affirmatively.
"Well then, you only have two choice. It's either you marry Stephan and we both live or you don't marry him and we both die!" Mia's father responded with a mixed emotion of fear and anger written all over his face.
"Father, please tell me what you mean by what you just said" Mia asked.
"Mia, all you need to do is marry him" her father insisted.
"Father, if you don't tell me what you mean by saying we both die if I don't marry him then I won't….. ".
"Okay…. okay…. Okay, fine I will tell you" her father cut her short just before she could finish.
"I…. I …. I owe alpha Stephan a huge debt that can only be repaid back with a life otherwise he would kill us both" Mia father replied.
Mia could feel her inner wolf pain so much she fell to her feet. She had always endured pain and torture but finding out she is being married off to the alpha as a payment of her father's debt kicked in another type of pain Mia has never felt.
"When is the holding wedding father" Mia asked.
It's in three days time my daughter" her father responded.
"Don't you dare call me your daughter, you lost that right the moment you sold me off to repay your debt" Mia said as she walked out on her father.
