Chapter 2

Elsie ran as fast as her legs could carry her out of the office. She stopped a cab and told the cab man her destination.

She was still panting heavily as she cleaned sweat off her head.

She took her phone and dialed her sister’s number but it kept going to voicemail.

“s**t” she cursed out loud as she ordered the driver to move faster.

“Amy, I need to call Amy” She murmured and dialed her best friend's number.

Amy was the only one she could call now, she couldn’t call her father because she knew he wouldn’t even care.

Kasley and her dad are always at loggerheads with each other.

They were close before their mother died but after her death, their father lost the love he had for them and kasley developed hatred for her father.

“Hey best girl” Amy said through the phone.

“Amy hi, please can you meet me at the station at warren street. Kasley has been arrested and my car has been seized. She said they found some substance in her car but she doesn’t know how it got there” Elsie mumbled.

“What! Hey calm down okay I’m leaving my house now and I’ll meet you there” Amy hurriedly said and ended the call.

“Please can you move any faster?” Elsie asked the driver because she was already losing patience.

She was furious at the same time scared. She was angry that Kasley took her car without her permission and has landed herself in a big mess. She was also scared because she didn’t want anything to happen to her sister. She was like the only family she had.

“Here you go” Elsie handed the money to the driver and stormed out of the car.

Not too long after she arrived, Amy arrived at the station too.

“I don’t do drugs! I don’t know how that got into the car. You need to believe me” Kasley yelled and stared at everyone in the eyes. From the look on their faces she could tell that no one believed what she was saying.

“Right no one believes me” Kasley threw her hands up in the air in disbelief.

“We will have to keep the car in our study and carry out further investigations on it. For now, we will let her go but if we find anything then we would have to send for her” the officer said.

Elsie was so disappointed and furious. Now she would have to be taking a cab to work everyday until the police was done with their investigations.

“That’ll be all for now you can go. And stay out of troubles” the officer said, talking directly to Kasley.

They all left the office and Amy held Elsie by her shoulder. She could tell that her best friend was really angry and she was trying to calm her down.

“You need to calm down” Amy whispered to Elsie.

“You need to believe me, I can be anything but I don’t do drugs. You need to believe me Elsie” Kasley tried convincing her sister but it wasn’t working.

“Kasley, enough I don’t want to hear anything again” Elsie shouted at her sister.

“Okay, everyone needs to calm down. Get into the car and let’s go” Amy said as she unlocked her car.

“Ping” Elsie’s phone buzzed. She reached out to her phone and saw a text message from her boss.

“Get back to the office now or never return” it read.

“It’s my boss, he said I should come back to the office or I’ll get fired. You need to drive faster please” Elsie told her best friend.

The ride to Elsie’s work place was a silent one. The car was silent as a graveyard. Kasley was angry at herself for the mess she had caused but she knew she wasn’t the one that put the drugs in the car.

In less than 30 minutes, they had arrived at Elsie’s workplace.

She got down from the car without saying a word to anyone and left.

“She is so mad, I knew I shouldn’t have taken that car” Kasley thought to herself as she watched her sister walk into the building without looking back.

She was feeling very bad for what she had done but she needed to get to the root of how those drugs got into the car.

“Are they here yet?” Elsie asked Kim as she walked into the office with a gloomy face.

“No, they are not. What happened? Where did you go in such a hurry?” Kim inquired.

“Kasley got into trouble with my car and now the car is in their custody” Elsie plainly said and put her phone down on the table.

“Wow! Sorry about that” Kim replied.

“Let me go change my dress before boss rains down fire on my head” Elsie laughed and walked out of the office.

She got into the storehouse and immediately changed her clothes and headed to her boss's office.

“Sir” Elsie said as she got into her bosses office trembling.

“There are some unfinished clothes I need you specifically to work on. It’s in the showroom and I’ve sent the designs to your system. Fix them up and be fast with it because the client would soon arrive and I need to deliver those clothes before the end of this week” Jeremy said as he glanced at her from head to toe with a pen in his mouth.

“Alright. I’ll get to it now” Elsie said and left the office.

She was feeling quite surprised because Jeremy was acting rather very kind to her today and it was unlike him.

Normally he was supposed to yell and shove it in her face how he achieved everything he had.

She walked back to her office and checked her system for the designs. She copied them into her phone so she would easily have access to it.

“I’ll see you later, I have work to do” Elsie said to Kim who was also busy and left the office.

“Hi, good afternoon I’m here to see Jeremy,” a lady said to Kim.

“Good afternoon, please, is he expecting you or do you have an appointment with him?” Kim asked the strange lady in front of her.

Kim couldn’t tell if she was the client they were waiting for or this was one of Jeremy’s numerous girlfriends.

It was hard to tell because she was dressed too simply to be the big client they were waiting for and also she was dressed too simple to be one of Jeremy’s girlfriends.

Jeremy’s girls are always high class and rude but this one was different.

“No I don’t have any appointment but he is expecting me. Just tell him Sharon is here to see him” the lady said flashing Kim a warm smile.

“Alright, please sit and wait for me I’ll be back” Kim pointed towards a chair for the lady to sit and she took a quick glance at her again before leaving the office to inform Jeremy about the lady.

“Sir, there is a lady here to see you, she said her name is Sharon” Kim boldly told him.

Kim was one of few workers in the office that wasn’t scared of Jeremy.

She was bold and fearless. She only saw him as a proud person who looked down on anyone but he didn’t scare her one bit.

“Let her in,” Jeremy said, waving his hand while still focusing his eyes on his laptop.

“Alright,” Kim said leaving the office.

“This can’t be a client if not he would have asked me to call Elsie. He never works without Elsie. Who could she be then? Why am I bothered about them though” Kim thought to herself and could feel a spang of jealousy in her chest.

“You can go in. It’s the first door on your right” Kim told the lady and returned back to what she was doing.

“Arghhh, could she be another of his girlfriends? Everyday he keeps bringing different women here” Kim angrily talked to herself as she tossed the cloth she was working on.

She was tempted to eavesdrop on their conversation but there were cameras everywhere so she would definitely get caught.

“Hey baby” Sharon said, grinning widely as she got into Jeremy’s office.

“Who is your baby? Haha come here” Jeremy laughed happily as he spread his arms wide to receive a hug from Sharon.

“I missed you. When did you come back?” Jeremy asked Sharon as he pulled out from the hug and sat on his chair.

“I came in yesterday and I decided to surprise my best buddy,” Sharon happily said as she crossed her legs and put her hand on her chin.

Sharon is Jeremy’s best friend. They had need friends since childhood. Both of them are the same kind of people. They don’t believe in relationships so they do not go into it.

Sharon and Jeremy are more than best friends though. They are more like friends with benefits.

They both like each other but won’t admit to it because they do not believe in relationships.

“Awww, that is so nice of you. And to think that we talked this morning and you didn’t even mention anything about coming back” Jeremy told her as his eyes hovered round her body.

“Someone looks like he wants to eat me” Sharon says, flashing a flirty look at Jeremy.

She stands up from her chair and moves over to where Jeremy is seated. Jeremy turns his chair around and faces her, he opens his legs wide so she could sit on his laps.

“I missed you” Sharon whispered into Jeremy’s ear sending shivers all over his body.

Jeremy pulls Sharon closer to him as she begins to kiss his neck and let out tiny moans from her lips.

She kisses his lips passionately and begins to unbutton his shirt but she immediately stops when his office door flings open causing both of them to jerk in fright.

“Sorry sir I wanted to ask for something but I’ll come back. It seems you are busy, sorry for interrupting. I will come back later” Elsie mumbles and rushes out of the office, closing the door loudly behind her.

“Why did I not knock?” Elsie hits her hand on her forehead and chuckles a bit.

“That scene was quite funny” she says and goes over to meet Kim.

“We should have locked the door” Jeremy said, disappointed as he begins to arrange himself. He felt somehow knowing that Elsie had just caught him almost naked making out with a lady in his office.

“Yeah” Sharon plainly replies him as she returns to her seat and adjusts her dress.

Things felt a bit awkward in the office between Sharon and Jeremy.

Sharon wondered why Jeremy was acting awkward. It was not like it was the first time they were doing it.

“Maybe it’s because his worker just caught us but who cares,” Sharon thought to herself.

“You won’t believe what I just saw! Jeremy was making out with a lady in his office almost naked” Elsie tells Kim who just shoves her shoulders and acted like she was not interested in the topic.

“You’re not saying anything? Is anything wrong?” Elsie asks her but still does not get a response.

“Maybe you’re not in the mood. I’ll give you the gist when you are in a better mood” Elsie says happily and sits on her chair.

Kim turns to stare at Elsie with anger with so much anger and jealousy in her.

Elsie’s phone buzzes and she reaches out to pick her call.

“Check your w******p, I sent you a photo” Amy says and hangs up before Elsie could say anything.

She quickly goes to her w******p and is shocked when she sees the picture Any sent to her.

She began to feel very heavy in her chest and it was as though she couldn’t breath.
