Road Trip

701 Words
A couple days flew by, and before we knew it we were road tripping it to Rhode Island. A relief considering he arguing and stress that come with any vacation. Es now back to 100% and Cam herself as ever, they took off a couple days to help prep for the journey. I never knew truly how expensive getting food for us and Jackie was until we had to road trip again; one of my many love hate relationships. We said good bye to Raelyn, unfortunately she had no vacation time on such short notice. Consecutively, we left at 2 in the morning,  and called our families when we hit the high way. My jeep was packed to the bone with food, blankets, luggage, and more that Jackie only just had enough space in the back , and a semi-squished Cameron and Esme in the front passenger seat with me driving. (The only way I was driving was practically drinking coffee like it was supplied o me via an IV.) By 11 in the morning we had covered moderate ground an decided to stop in a state near and dear to Cam, Utah. There we visited BYU, the college she had only dreamed of going since I met her, the capitol Salt Lake, and a little tourist type shop on the way back on track. Our goal is to make it to Nebraska at least before calling it a night, and camping somewhere. We drove the day away, singing the music from the 80s, or the rock of 90s, or when  I got bored with that random decades to current date music. Jackie had to stop a couple times for a walk and to use the bathroom, but after her last stop at five in the evening we fed her, walked, and let her use the bathroom, and the she slept until we stopped almost all of the way through NE. We ate at five after we fed her and then hit the road.  Setting up a little camping spot is not difficult if your are tired and  motivated enough to do so. Es was least tired so she called our parents and stuff to update them. By the time everyone was asleep it was 45 minutes after 12 pm. We broke camp at 6 am, and was back on the road by 6:15 am, hoping to be in the New England area before night fall. Nightfall came, with everyone starting to be really irritable and  over road tripping our vacation. We stopped in at a pet-friendly hotel at around 10 pm, all of us took turns driving so we told Alexa to to just text our parents about our whereabouts. We slept until five and then took a walk and went out to a little cafe. Now feeling clean, well rested, and satisfied with semi-healthy food we hit the road again, with me driving.  I called my family to notify them in person and because I miss them. Then after, just to wake them up because I got bored I started obnoxiously singing "On the Road Again" by Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson, at around 6 am. Needless to say Esme and Cameron were not humored by this and punched me on the shoulder. I, however, found it the most hilarious thing since "Family Guy." Officially, at four in the evening we were in the Ocean State, singing "Home! Sweet Home!" We of course when we hit RI, took a picture right infront of the road sign saying #homesweethome and posted it on social media. I dropped Cam off at her parents' house and Es just the same. I went to my brother and his wife's house because I was surprising my parents with a visit and my older sister was inhabiting my old room. The girls and I had plans to do what we did together as teens in RI, but we wanted family time first. That night I hung out with my brother and wife, had a nice, simple dinner, and then passed out on the couch watching either "Inside the Mind of A Serial Killler" or "Planet Earth"; I ceased paying attention after my dog was fed and walked, and when my head hit the couch cushions.
