Chapter 5: Vancouver

Before long, Aeturnus suddenly appeared beside Ethan which surprised Ethan but he didn't have time to say anything and Aeturnus first whispered in his ear with a teasing voice, "Eh, I'm fine. Why are you nervous, huh? ".

Ethan was shocked and was about to answer but Aeturnus had already walked up to Kenzo and asked Kenzo about Aaron's condition, "How is he doing?".

Kenzo opened the car door and said, "Your Majesty, His Highness needs your power because the wound was caused by a silver blade so it can't heal by itself".

Aeturnus nodded and got into the car. Eden who was standing outside the car could only wait. Ethan patted Eden on the shoulder and said, "Everything will be fine".

Ethan sees how Aeturnus gives Aaron his powers by using his own blood as a way to heal Aaron. And somehow Ethan felt that he had felt the same way, a scent that was very similar to the scent that was currently around the car just after Aeturnus gave his blood. Ethan began to remember when he took a bath with Aeturnus, at that time he was asleep but he felt the same smell as now. Ethan widened his eyes at the blood flowing from Aeturnus' hand, he realized what happened back then.

Before long, Aeturnus was outside and asked Kenzo about Aaron's condition, "How is he doing?".

Kenzo opened the car door and said, "Your Majesty, His Highness needs your power because the wound was caused by a silver blade so it can't heal by itself".

Aeturnus nodded and got into the car. Eden who was standing outside the car could only wait. Ethan patted Eden on the shoulder and said, "Everything will be fine".

Kenzo drove the car with Ethan sitting beside him while Eden sat in the back accompanying Aeturnus and Aaron who were unconscious. Ethan was worried about Aeturnus' condition after giving Aaron his blood and suddenly lost consciousness which shocked Ethan but Kenzo said if it was normal, he also said that Aeturnus would wake up a few hours later and there was nothing to worry about.

They finally arrived at a house in the Chinatown area, a house in a small alley that was only enough for one car but the house which from the outside looked simple and small was actually quite large because the house had two floors and was quite long. Inside there are also several rooms that can be used.

Arriving at the house, Eden carried Aaron into the house while Agnis brought Aeturnus who was also still unconscious like Aaron. Kenzo directed them all to enter the house and escorted them to their respective rooms. After dropping off Aaron and Aeturnus, Kenzo escorts Ethan to his room.

"What about the condition of Mr. Aeturnus?"asked Ethan who entered the room.

Kenzo replied calmly, "His Majesty will be fine, His Highness Agnis will take care of him".

Ethan nodded without saying anything. Kenzo said again, "Ehm, then I'll excuse myself. I have to clean up the remnants".

"Thank you," said Ethan before closing the door to his room.

Ethan sighed and looked around, he was worried and wanted to see Aeturnus but he didn't want to disturb so he just sat in his room and opened his cellphone to call some people to take care of this incident. This incident does not only deal with vampires but also between werewolves and humans, especially Ryan who is clearly a traitor in the Special Investigation Unit, so Ethan must interfere in this matter.

After finishing contacting his people to catch up with Vancouver, Ethan, who was really tired, finally fell asleep soundly enough that the next day he woke up startled. The person who was unconscious yesterday has come to his senses and is lying beside him, Aeturnus is lying beside Ethan hugging Ethan's body.

Realizing that Ethan had woken up, Aeturnus turned his head and said, "Good morning, how did you sleep last night?".

"Are you awake? Since when have you been here?", asked Ethan, fixing his sleeping position.

"Hm, I was just here a few moments ago. It's already noon, do you want breakfast?", Aeturnus asked with a smile on his lips.

"I'm going to take a shower first, last night I didn't take a shower," replied Ethan who broke away from Aeturnus' embrace.

"Ethan..", called Aeturnus who saw Ethan was about to leave his bed.

"What's wrong?", Ethan turned his head and looked at Aeturnus questioningly.

"Nothing," replied Aeturnus who sat leaning on the bed.

Ethan nodded and was about to walk to the bathroom but Aeturnus called him back, "Ethan".

Ethan turned back to look at Aeturnus. Aeturnus said softly, "I'm going now, I have to take care of some things. I'll leave Aaron to you".

Aeturnus' words like that of course made Ethan worried about what Aeturnus would do. Ethan asked, "Are you going to take care of what happened last night? Will it take long?".

Aeturnus stood up and approached Ethan, "Yeah, it might take a while and it looks like I have to go back to the main castle as well to continue my delayed deep sleep".

Ethan is shocked to hear that, he knows how long a vampire can go into a deep sleep. They can sleep for several months to several years even a pure vampire-like Aeturnus who has lived for thousands of years, can experience deep sleep for tens or even hundreds of years.

"Then what about the experiment you want to do?", asked Ethan who was actually confused about what to say, he didn't want Aeturnus to go at all.

Aeturnus stroked Ethan's hair, "Maybe it's fate if I can't do the experiment yet. You can stop taking the medicine".

Ethan looked down, he felt lost and lonely hearing Aeturnus' words. Aeturnus held Ethan's chin and tilted it upwards until they looked at each other "I'm glad to have the opportunity to meet you, Ethan. If I don't get to see you again then I will come to your place to rest forever and bring you your favourite flower".

"I'll be waiting for you for my flowers", said Ethan who for some reason he said like that as if all the vocabulary in his brain had disappeared.

Aeturnus looked deep into Ethan's eyes and a small smile appeared on his lips. And quickly, Aeturnus kissed Ethan's lips before pressing his forehead to Ethan's forehead. He said softly as he looked at Ethan, "You... are so beautiful and I'm lucky to have been a part of your life".

Ethan nodded slowly and his eyes were filled with tears. Without realizing it, Ethan pulled Aeturnus' neck and kissed his lips. Aeturnus was clearly very happy and returned Ethan's kiss gently which slowly deepened. Aeturnus pulled Ethan's back closer to his body which made Ethan lift up and have to tiptoe.

Ethan came out of his room and saw that there was food on the table but no one else was in the kitchen but him. After drinking a glass of water, Ethan went back up to the second floor and checked Eden.

"Eden?", Ethan called to his younger brother while knocking on the bedroom door.

The bedroom door slowly opened and Eden with a tired face greeted his older brother, "Brother, what's wrong?".

"How is Aaron?" asked Ethan who glanced into the room.

Eden said quietly, "He still hasn't woken up, Kenzo said he might wake up in two or three days".

"Hm, have you had breakfast?", asked Ethan who was worried about Eden.

"Not yet," replied Eden curtly.

"Then, take a shower first and go downstairs for breakfast. I'll be waiting in the kitchen, there's something I need to talk about too," said Ethan who patted Eden on the shoulder then after Eden agreed, he turned to leave.

Ethan sat at the dining table with a cup of coffee in his hand. Breakfast is ready at the table, there are pancakes, fried eggs, sausage and bacon and there is also toast with jam. Ethan did feel hungry because yesterday he didn't have time to eat dinner, plus he only had breakfast but he didn't want to eat alone this time and waited for Eden to come down and have breakfast together.

Eden came down with a fresh face even though he still looked exhausted. Ethan gave Eden a cup of coffee and told him to have breakfast. Eden nodded and started breakfast.

After breakfast, Ethan finally started to speak, "Where are Kenzo and Agnis?".

"I don't know it's Agnis but Kenzo said earlier that he received orders from the Vampire Leader and will return in the afternoon or evening," Eden replied.

"Today you just take a break because tomorrow my people will come and you will lead them to take care of this incident," said Ethan who took a tissue and wiped his lips gently.

Eden didn't answer much and only nodded in approval of Ethan's words because he knew that it was his obligation.

All-day Ethan just spends time in front of his cellphone to take care of the work he left behind. When night finally came, he remembered the kiss he had with Aeturnus this morning. When he remembered that kiss, his face immediately turned red.

"I'm crazy, what did I actually do...", Ethan muttered, regretting his own actions this morning.

He put down his cell phone and rolled over on the bed in embarrassment but after that, he fell silent and stared at the ceiling of his room. He thought back to Aeturnus' words and said quietly, "Is he really going to sleep so long that he can't see me again for the rest of my life?".

Ethan felt sad at his own words, he felt lonely. He tilted his body and stared out the window, "Hah, I haven't known him for long but why am I like this?".

"You missed me?", a husky voice came softly from behind him which startled Ethan who immediately got up and looked back.

The blood that covered Aeturnus disappeared quickly and Aeturnus' face showed a smile on Ethan's face. Ethan was surprised by the sudden arrival of Aeturnus and said, "What are you doing here? Didn't you say that you...".

Aeturnus cut Ethan off and said, "It would be a shame if I didn't spend as much time with you as I could, wouldn't it?".

Aeturnus walked up to Ethan and said "Besides, you seem to miss me a lot".

"What did you say?", said Ethan who felt embarrassed and also a little annoyed with Aeturnus, especially after his words this morning.

"Haha, I'm just joking. I still have a lot of work to do so I'll be postponing my deep sleep for some more time so, during that time, I'll be here first", said Aeturnus who was sitting on the bed.

"And as for what I said this morning it's true, you can stop taking the pills I gave you too because I'm not sure that I will be by your side for a long time," said Aeturnus, caressing Ethan's cheek.

"Whatever," said Ethan curtly who immediately pretended to sleep by covering himself with the blanket.

Aeturnus laughed at Ethan's level which he thought was very funny, he then climbed onto the bed and hugged Ethan from behind. Aeturnus said softly " I will be by your side as long as I can".

Ethan opened his eyes and he really wanted to look at Aeturnus but he was afraid to fall too deep so he just took out his hand and touched Aeturnus' hand that was holding him then hooked his pinky on Aeturnus's pinky as if he wanted to make a promise from Aeturnus' words.

Aeturnus kissed Ethan's head and held Ethan's hand which was in contact with his. Both Ethan and Aeturnus realized that both of them would be better off not starting a relationship that uses their feelings and must stay within their own boundaries. They know that they have very little time together and if they fall too deep it will be very difficult for them to say goodbye to each other.

Aeturnus knows very well what it feels like to let go of the person he loves, he knows very well what it feels like to see people around him leave him alone in a world that keeps on turning and changing. Aeturnus didn't want to leave bad feelings for himself and for Ethan but on the other hand, right now he felt he wanted to spend a little more time with Ethan. At least he wanted to be with Ethan when Ethan was lonely, so maybe Ethan would find someone to spend the rest of their time with.

Ethan held Aeturnus' hand which was cold but also warm, for him the hug from Aeturnus was the warmest hug he had ever felt after his parents left. He wished that this hug would continue to be his but he knew that it was impossible, however, he had to let go of this hug and this hold of his hand. He must not fall into this relationship, he must be the one who is ready to let it all go. Ethan closed his eyes and felt Aeturnus hug him so he could keep him for a long time.
