I couldn’t believe it. Amber’s dad was the damn Alpha. I thought I was done picking girls with questionable background. For some reason, I couldn’t help it when Amber came into the picture. I wanted to be close to her all the time. I wanted to be the one making her smile. I understood we were still in high school, but I felt like Amber could be the one. She is the one. Gideon had already fallen in love with her evidently. We need to go slow. I can’t go through what I did with Aliana again. I checked my phone to see if I had any texts. I just wanted to know if Amber was serious about her dad being the Alpha or if she was just kidding.

*HER*

Yes he is. He said he wants to meet you before you can take me on a date.

Part of me cringed internally. It was bad enough that I’d be in the hot seat with her dad. But now that I knew he was the Alpha, I was even more nervous. But a date? Amber wanted to go on a date with me? Hell yeah.

Oh so it’s a date then? Hell yes.

You can’t apologize without taking a girl out for some ice cream afterwards.

How about ice cream after a drive in movie and dinner? My treat?

Please say yes! I started out just wanting to do a simple apology, but now I just wanted to spend time with her. I knew I would have to work to regain her trust, but something told me I was already more than forgiven.

I’ll be joining you at the packhouse meeting with my family.

Duh silly. I heard my dad say to invite Jairo and his family. Not a surprise (;

How’d you know my dad’s name is Jairo? I’ve never told you that..?

My dad is the damn Alpha boy. Come on now. Lol.

I got the feeling that Amber knew more than what she was saying. I wasn’t going to press the issue though. My iPhone flashed at me indicating a had a text so I checked my messages.

*Sayed the Man*

Bro you going to this meeting? My parents said my sister and I had to come too. Wtf is going on?

Give your dad more time to make things right. He’s hurting just as much as we are baby.

I thought about my mom’s text. On one hand she was right, but still. What man could honestly leave his mate and his family? His pack? I couldn’t understand or wrap my head around it. I knew eventually we would have to talk, but I just wasn’t ready yet. I decided I would just surprise Sayed when we showed up. I closed my eyes to try and relax before seeing Amber. Everything was different now. I didn’t have a girlfriend that was making her life hell now. I know I had said we needed to go slow, but I wanted to make Amber mine. What about Aliana? Gideon thought to me as he came to the forefront of my mind. What about her? That’s over and done with. You know she found her mate. I understand, but I get the impression that she still feels very strongly for us.

Well. She threw that all away when I caught her with Terrance. We have to move on. What are we going to do about my dad? He will want to be the head of the house now. I didn’t like the thought of that. When my dad left, I had to step in and fill that role. I kept us safe. When I wasn’t at school or basketball, I was in warrior training. My mom had let me sign up early after I had begged. I told her I needed to know how to defend our home if it ever came down to it. Luckily she had agreed and for that I was thankful. “Estamos aquí, mi amor.” My mom turned and said to me. As we pulled around to the sleek and modern mansion, I noticed that the front door was red. That’s cool as hell. I thought to myself. I also saw several garages and cars.

“Son. I know you’re still angry with me, but please try and place that anger aside for the duration of this dinner and meeting. I need you to be thinking with a clear head and no emotions to distract you.” Why was he even talking to me? “Yes sir I understand.” I knew being respectful would make my mom happy. As we got out of the car, I noticed Sayed and his family being escorted inside by a big burly man in a golf cart. As soon as they met a woman standing at the door, he nodded and began driving towards our direction. “Hello DeLeon family and welcome to the packhouse. My name is Rafael and I will be your escort for the night.” He smiled and I felt at ease instantly. I felt like I could trust this guy with my life. “Son you can take the front seat and your mom will take the back seat with me.” I nodded and began to climb in.

“You didn’t change your name? You still have mine? I thought you would’ve filed for divorce by now. You are so beautiful mi Estrella.” I could hear my dad lowly speaking to my mom. Estrella? I didn’t recognize that name. In Spanish that meant star so I had no clue. Maybe it’s your mom’s wolf’s name. Gideon spoke to me. I felt weird. It was like I could feel something in the air. I was nervous, but I didn’t know why. Something about this meeting was going to change my life forever. But for good or bad? That was the question. Before I knew it, we had pulled up in front of the door. “Thank you Mr. Rafael. I hope you have a great night. He extended his hand and I squeezed firmly. “The pleasure was all mine. Enjoy your evening familia DeLeon.” We made it to the front door and my jaw dropped. Amber. She was smiling and I couldn’t but grin too. I was so happy to see her.

She was wearing a purple sundress and it suited her. I loved the change up from sneakers. My girl could honestly pull anything off. Then I noticed her mom. Mrs. Henry could be her daughter’s twin. Her skin was smooth cocoa brown, but she had hazel eyes. Wow. “Luna Jelena, thank you for inviting my family and I here for dinner.” “We are truly honored.” Both of my parents slightly bowed as they said these things. “I uh.. I am very happy to be here as well!” I said quickly. Amber laughed and her mom elbowed her so she stopped. It was too late by then, everybody began to laugh at my expense. “Please come in, my husband Azerin will be starting soon.” Amber lead us to where everyone was standing waiting to be let in to the dining room.

I saw Sayed and we slapped hands! “Is that your dad bro? When did he get back? Man you’ve been holding out!” Sayed said to me. “It’s a long story dude. Let’s try to get together after this ok?” I said to him. I then went and greeted his parents and little sister. She made me wish I wasn’t an only child, but then again it had its perks. I heard the Alpha beginning to speak so I found my parents and stood beside them. We were right in front of Amber and her mom. I caught Amber’s eye and couldn’t help but smile. Mate.
