When I finally got back to my dorm at the end of the day I was buzzing with excitement. I wanted to tell Rosa so badly, but I knew she wouldn’t really care. Part of her rules were to keep quiet and keep away from her. I ran a finger over my lips, losing myself in the memory of our kiss. My thoughts halted when I remembered he said he had a son. I wanted to smack myself on the forehead, I should’ve asked more questions. If his son is two years older than me that means he’s twenty. If his son is twenty Donovon could be in his late thirties early forties. I gnawed at my lip, he’s my parents' age. I wonder how they would react if Donovon and I accepted each other. What if he doesn’t accept me? I’d have to find a chosen mate. I sighed, I was worrying myself sick. I looked towards the door when I heard the sound of it opening.
“You little shit.” Rosa hissed at me, slamming the door behind her. I flinched at the sound.
“I promise I won’t tell our parents.” My words did little to relieve her anger.
“Why don’t you just give me his name?” She said, planting a creepy smile on her face.
“No.” Rosa let out a little screech and stomped her foot. She kicked off her shoes and climbed the short few steps up to her lofted bed and flopped down.
“Huh?” I said after she mumbled something into her pillow.
“He wants to take me on a date.” She said clearly, turning her head to face the wall.
“A date?” My eyebrows shot up and I sat up in my bed.
“I’ve never been on a date before.” Worry laced Rosa’s voice. My confident, headstrong, total badass sister is worried about a date.
“Me either.” I replied, shrugging my shoulders even though I knew she couldn’t see me.
“Don’t worry about it, I’m sure it’ll go great.” Rosa snapped up at my words, glaring at me.
“I’m not worried.” I raised my hands in surrender. She let out a huff and rolled back over. After a while I started to hear her light snoring. I chuckled as I got up and flicked off our light.
“Goodnight, Rosa.” I whispered as I climbed back into bed. I’m determined to ask him questions tomorrow, I need to know more about my mate.
I was a ball of anxiety for the first half of my day. My legs were constantly twitching, I wanted to storm into his classroom and demand answers, but I knew I needed to be patient. The feeling of wanting to be near him was driving me absolutely crazy. I wanted to feel his lips again, I wanted to be close to him. When it was finally time to go to his class I was practically bouncing with excitement at the chance to see him again. I had truly been a whirlwind of emotions all day. Once again, seeing him took my breath away. The sleeves on his button up were rolled up to his elbows, exposing his muscular forearms. As if he felt my gaze he looked up and for a brief moment I saw lust in his eyes. A shiver ran up my spine at the thought of him wanting me in that way. I wanted to curse myself when I felt my panties dampen. Unfortunately vampires, just like wolves, can smell their mates arousal. Donovon c****d a brow and I felt my face flush. I hurried to my seat in the front row and refused to look up at him. Seeing him stand in front of the class and take control was so attractive. I mean everything about him was attractive, I couldn’t help myself. I let out a breath of relief mixed with anxiety when the class ended. Approaching his desk gave me a sense of deja vu.
“I have some questions for you.” He stroked his jaw as he looked up at me.
“I figured you did, but this isn’t the best place for that.”
“Let me take you on a date.” I blurted, wishing I could smack myself.
“You know it’s usually the other way around.” He said with a raised brow and the ghost of a smile on his lips.
“I know, gah, I’m really screwing this up.” A low chuckle escaped his throat.
“Don’t worry, Daniella, I will take you on a date. I’ll pick you up on Friday.” He said almost dismissively.
“O-okay, I’ll see you around.” I hurried out of his classroom before I embarrassed myself anymore.
DONOVON POV
I clenched and unclenched my hands as I watched Daniella disappear through the doorway. Willing myself to not focus on her perfectly round ass. I wanted to smack myself and the curse the Goddesses have bestowed upon us. At the age of forty I assumed I’d never meet my promised, which is the vampire version of a mate. I never would have guessed it would be someone young enough to be my daughter. Daniella was so young, so pure and innocent, why would she want some old man? I know on the outside I only look twenty five, but on the inside I feel old as dirt. When she asked me on a date my old heart melted. She’s so adorable and I’m so not. Thinking of the things I’ve done, the person I am, I’m not the man for her. After our date I have to let her know that she needs to reject me. She deserves a younger man, a better man. Not some old bat with skeletons in his closet.
“What up, pops?” I looked up to see my obnoxious son stroll into my classroom.
“Why aren’t you in class?” I asked in a neutral tone.
“I have a date on Friday.” He says with a dreamy look in his eyes as he sits on top of one of my desks. I felt my eye twitch.
“Congratulations, now go to class.” I turned my focus back the the papers I’ve been trying to grade.
“She’s my promised.” My hand halted mid stroke.
“What?” I slowly raised my eyes to meet his. It was hard to look at him sometimes. He was the spitting image of his mother, down to the little mole under his left eye.
“She’s an absolute firecracker, dad.” He gazed up like he was in a fantasy.
“And you’re sure she’s the one?” I raised my brow at him.
“Yes and she’s a wolf mixed with a vampire.” My back straightened slightly.
“Interesting.” I replied nonchalantly, but inside I was internally panicking. My Daniella was wolf and vampire which isn’t a very common mix.
“She’s stunning and her eyes are this intense shade of silver.” I fought the urge to let out the breath I was holding, not my Daniella.
“She sounds great, son.” I nodded my head slightly.
“You should go on a date too, dad, it’s been years.” My mood immediately soured, I clenched my pen so harshly it snapped in half. The two pieces flew apart and ink flooded my hand.
“Not now, Marcus.” I gritted out through clenched teeth.
“But dad-“
“No one can replace her, no one.” I roared at him, rising from my chair I heard it fly back and hit the wall.
“I didn’t say replace her, but you don’t need to be alone. She would’ve wanted you to move on.” Anger coursed through me.
“And what would you know? Hm? You were barely ten when she died, you didn’t even know her.” I immediately regretted the words as they flew out of my mouth.
“Yeah, thanks for the reminder, asshole.” He said bitterly as he jumped off of the desk and stormed away. I slowly sat back in my chair, he’s right, I’m an asshole. That’s exactly why I can’t have my Daniella, she deserves a good man and I’m not a good man.
DANIELLA POV
Sitting through Donovon’s class every day was pure torture. My body screamed for him, especially after the kiss we had shared. I dreamt of him and his lips every night. It was finally Friday and I was practically buzzing with excitement. I was in the middle of getting ready when Rosa barged into our dorm room.
“What are you getting dressed up for?” She asked with a raised brow.
“I, um, have a date.” I replied quietly.
“Since when? You never told me you were going on a date too and who is this guy anyway?” She popped out her hip and crossed her arms.
“Oh it’s just a guy from my English class.” How was I going to tell her that my date was my professor? Or the fact that he’s my mate and probably our parents' age.
“I feel like you’re hiding something.” She said, narrowing her eyes.
“But I’m not gonna push it.” I let out a little sigh of relief.
“Thank you, I’ll explain more after the date, okay?” I replied, giving her a smile.
“It’s whatever, I don’t really care.” She flipped her hair and rolled her eyes.
“What are you gonna wear?” I wanted to bite my tongue. I prepared myself for Rosa’s wrath, but it never came.
“I’m gonna wear this.” She gestured to her regular outfit. I took in her graphic shirt, black cargo pants, and black boots.
“You don’t wanna wear a dress or something nice?” I watched Rosa’s back stiffen.
“I, uh, well-“ I’d never seen Rosa stumble over her words and if I wasn’t mistaken I would swear she was blushing.
“Do you want to borrow one of mine?” I asked as I walked over to my closet.
“Do you have any in black?” I let out a small chuckle.
“Yeah, I think so.”
