ROSALINA POV
“Bill, I can see you.” I shouted at one of my parents warriors that had been stalking me on their behalf.
“I’m sorry, Rosa, but I have to follow Alpha Rafael’s orders.” Bill said, stepping out from the tree line. After I found my second chance mate I came out to the edge of the forest that surrounded our school. I’d been kicking and screaming until I heard a branch crunch. Of course it was the absolute goofball Bill. Dumb as a rock, but strong as f**k. Once upon a time I would’ve found him handsome, but now all I can think of is red eyes and blonde hair.
“f**k!” I shouted into the air with my fists clenched at my side. I need to get out this pent up frustration. When I looked up at Bill an idea popped in my head.
“Spar with me.” I told him as I threw my thick hair up into a ponytail.
“Are you sure?” He asked hesitantly.
“Yes you big oaf.” I barked at him as I kicked my backpack out of the way. I took my opening stance and slowly circled him. We’ve been sparring and training since we were twelve. It’s the average age for a wolf to start training even though we don’t have our first shift until eighteen. My parents almost had a heart attack when I first started training. They wanted to treat Dani and I like princesses. f**k that. I remember my first training so vividly. My father yanked me off of a boy named Jay that I was pummeling into the dirt. I was covered in dirt and blood as I sat in my fathers office. Even though my father was pissed that I did it without permission, he still held so much pride for me. I was momentarily distracted by my memories giving Bill the opening he needed. Before I could think he had me flipped over on my ass.
“Again!” I barked as I jumped back up, taking my stance once again. As we continued to spar I ended up taking my shirt off, opting to spar in my sports bra. I was one of the top warriors at my pack and one of very few women. I took pride in being able to beat ass, but right now? Right now it’s my ass getting beat.
“Stop holding back.” I yelled at Bill. I knew he wasn’t using his full strength and it was pissing me off.
“If I don’t I could seriously hurt you.” He replied with worry in his voice.
“I don’t give a s**t, that’s the point, now f*****g hit me.” I yelled in his face and shoved at his chest. Before he could say anything or do anything I watched as someone ran between us, pinning Bill to a tree.
“Hey, what the f**k are you doing?” I snapped as I yanked on the stranger's arm. I gasped when tingles traveled down my spine causing me to immediately jump away. It was like slow motion when he turned to look at me. My heart melted as I looked into his deep red eyes and my knees felt weak. I wanted to yank him off of Bill and slam my lips against his. It’s like I was in a trance, completely mesmerized by him.
“Put your shirt back on.” It was like a record scratch, completely snapping me out of my daze.
“Excuse me?” I crossed my arms under my breasts in a way that I knew pushed them up. I watched his eyes immediately flicker down and then back up to my face.
“Put it back on.” He forced through clenched teeth.
“Why?” His eye twitched at my defiance so I gave him a smirk. Toying with him caused me to let my guard down. Before I could blink, the mystery guy threw Bill to the side. He stepped into my personal space snatching both my wrists in one large hand and then wrapping my ponytail in his other hand.
“You want to know why?” He snarled, his face only inches from mine. I kept my defiant smirk in place, refusing to answer him.
“Because I can’t stand the thought that other men are checking out what should be mine. Only I should be able to see you like this.” His eyes raked down my body.
“Barely clothed and covered in sweat.” He husked and tugged my ponytail lightly causing a moan to escape my lips. A wide, cocky smile spread across his lips.
“f**k you.” I spat.
“Gladly.” He murmured, his lips just inches from mine. I couldn’t help but run my tongue over my lips, enticing him a little more. An awkward cough from our side had us breaking apart quickly. Mystery guy picked up my discarded shirt and tossed it at me, I snatched it up and put it back on.
“Who are you?” Bill asked the mystery guy.
“He’s no one.”
“I’m her mate.” I groaned after the words left his mouth at the same time as mine. Bill’s eyes grew round as he looked back and forth between us.
“If you tell my parents, I will kill you.” I growled through clenched teeth, glaring daggers at Bill.
“Rosa, I can’t keep secrets, they need to know that you got a second chance mate.” I clenched my eyes shut and prayed that the Goddess would give me strength.
“Rosa is a beautiful name.” Mystery guy said, throwing me a flirtatious smile.
“I bet yours is better, so just tell me your name and I can get this over with.” I turned to him fully with my hands planted on my hips. His smile faltered at my sharp words and I immediately wanted to take them back.
“Give me a chance, go on a date with me.” He blurted quickly.
“What?” I balked with wide eyes.
“Let me take you on one date and if you decide you hate it, I’ll tell you my name.” I eyed him curiously and slowly circled him. I don’t know why I was considering it, I know what I want. I want the chance to choose my own destiny, but something about him was pulling me in.
“Okay.” I shrugged my shoulder.
“Okay?” He asked enthusiastically.
“Don’t make me regret this decision.” I bit out, glaring at him.
“So, Friday after classes around seven?” He asked with a raised brow.
“Fine, I’ll see you then.” I picked up my backpack and slung it over my shoulder.
“Come on, Bill.” I barked out as I walked away from the two men. I heard Bill jog up next to me, following me to my dorm. I bit the inside of my mouth to stop myself from smiling. I held a hand to my stomach as I felt butterflies swarm it. Never in my eighteen years had I ever been asked on a date, I have always intimidated guys. It was almost relieving to know my mate wasn’t anything like them.
“Sooo, a date?” Bill said, breaking the silence.
“I’m serious, keep your trap shut.”
DANIELLA POV
My hands trembled when class ended and I approached his desk.
“P-professor Driscoll.” I spoke, my words coming out shaky. He let out a sigh as he closed his laptop and leaned back in his chair. Anxiety twisted in my gut, why was my mate acting this way? Shouldn’t he be happy?
“How old are you?” His eyes finally rose, staring me directly in mine.
“Eighteen.” I replied meekly. He sighed again and ran a hand down his face.
“My son is two years older than you.” A dark chuckle escaped his lips. Wait, he has children? My gut twisted once again, children usually means wife.
“I can reject you if you want, I just need your name-” My words were cut off by his speed. In less than a second his chest was pressed against mine, his hand cupped my cheek.
“You think I don’t want you?” He asked in a hoarse voice.
“I-I assumed-” His thumb gently caressing my bottom lip halted my words.
“You’re so beautiful.” My breath caught in my throat, there was such conviction in his bloody eyes. His face slowly came closer to mine, our lips were just an inch away. Without giving much thought I gripped the front of his dark blue button up and yanked him forward. When our lips collided it was like an explosion of butterflies in my stomach. I moaned as his lips moved against mine. They were soft and plump and warm. I felt his arm snake around my waist as his other hand snaked its way into my hair. When his tongue slid into my mouth my knees nearly buckled. Too soon he pulled away and I felt dazed, high on that earth shattering kiss.
“Wow.” I breathed.
“Was that your first kiss?” He asked with a raised brow, I nodded slowly, not trusting my words. He slowly pulled himself from our embrace, he turned and walked back around his desk.
“I-I can do better.” I felt my face flush.
“You were perfect, I just don’t know how this will work.” My stomach started doing flips, happy at his compliment and then nervous at his last comment.
“Just think about it, please just give it a chance.” I almost begged him on my hands and knees.
“I’ll think about it.” He gave me a half smile that made my heart pound.
“It’s Donovon, by the way.”
“Daniella.” I smiled up at him, hope thrummed in my chest.
