7. Dates II

ROSALINA POV I crossed my arms and tapped my boot clad foot on the concrete. Dani tried to get me to wear some little wedge shoes, but that’s where I drew the line. I tugged uncomfortably at the black dress she let me borrow. Is this stupid? Why did I even dress up? I chewed at my bottom lip with indecision. I’m not normally like this, I’m confident, headstrong, and normally a little cocky. So why do I feel this way? Why does he make me second guess myself? This is ridiculous, I just need to turn around and go right back to my dorm. Dani’s out on her date so I can just lie about mine and she won’t know. Well unless she reads my mind or vampire boys mind. I let out a groan and tossed my head back. The end of my braid tickled the part of my back that was exposed. The braid was another thing Dani had suggested I do. The more I thought about it, the warmer my face felt. Again, why am I putting so much effort into someone I’m just going to reject? My thoughts were brought to a halt when a red Dodge challenger pulled up in front of me. Its loud engine vibrated the ground beneath me. I watched as mystery guy hopped out of the driver's seat and came around to the passengers side. “You look beautiful.” He said as he opened the passenger door for me. “Shut it.” I snapped as I reluctantly climbed into the car. “And I can open my own damn doors.” I added as he closed the door, he simply shook his head and chuckled. I crossed my arms across my chest and gazed out the window. “So where are we going?” I said bitterly as he took his seat behind the wheel. “We’re going to see a movie.” He shrugged as he pulled away from my dorm. “A movie?” I asked, flabbergasted. “Yeah.” He gave me a sly smile. “Aren’t you supposed to be, I don’t know, trying to impress me?” I arched my brow as I studied his face. He didn’t respond, he just chuckled, again! “Well what kind of movie is it?” “Stop asking so many questions.” I watched as he rolled his eyes, his smile never leaving his face. “Ugh!” I groaned as I focused my attention outside. He is absolutely insufferable. Soon enough we were pulling up to the small movie theater in town. When we parked he used his vampire speed to be at my door in the blink of an eye. I rolled my eyes as he opened my door and held his hand out for me. I grumbled and swatted his hand away. I tensed up when he placed his hand on the small of my back and led me to the front of the theater. “Two tickets for Me Before You, please.” He smiled at the girl in the ticket booth and I felt a small bit of jealous bubble inside me. I quickly squashed it and shook my head, trying to purge those thoughts. “Would you like some popcorn and a drink?” He asked, gazing down at me. “Blue raspberry icee, make it a large, milk duds, and a large popcorn.” I huffed as I cross my arms. “As you wish.” He gave me a sly smile and a wink that made my stomach flutter. This handsome bastard is going to be the death of me. As we walked to the theater he kept his hand on my back the entire time. I knew deep down I needed to correct the behavior, but I couldn’t. I liked the feeling of his hand on me. When we stepped into the theater my mouth popped open. “Where is everyone?” I asked, thinking back and realizing I hadn’t seen a single person besides the staff in the building. “I rented out the theater and I picked a movie that came out a few years ago. It is one of my favorites.” I looked up at him with my mouth popped open. “Are you serious?” I watched as his hand lifted and gently pushed underneath my jaw to close my mouth. “I’m supposed to be impressing you, remember?” He gave me a wink as he led us to our seats. I just rolled my eyes as we settled into our seats. As the movie started to play, mystery guy started to reach for my popcorn. I leaned forward and snapped my teeth at his hand causing him to pull back. “Should’ve bought your own popcorn, sucker.” I huffed as I dug in. “So vicious.” He chuckled and I realized I was starting to like the sound. “Hush and watch the movie.” I snapped as I slurped my icee. Two hours later I feel tears rolling down my cheeks. “You’re an asshole.” I barked at him, trying to save my makeup with a napkin. “How is that your favorite movie!” I exclaimed, barely giving him a chance to reply. “I honestly wasn’t expecting you to be interested, I thought you would just play on your phone.” He shrugged as we walked back to the car. “I may be a b***h, but I know proper movie theater etiquette.” I huffed as I crossed my arms. I felt his hand intertwined with mine and gently tugged me to stop. “Come on.” Was all he said as he led me away from the car. “Is this the part where you murder me?” I raised my brow at him and all he did was chuckle. I hesitantly followed him around the corner. I was shocked when I saw a little food truck area with string lights hung up everywhere. “Did you talk to my sister?” I asked, narrowing my eyes at him. “No, why?” I could tell by the look on his face that he was being honest. “Because I love food trucks and that one.” I pointed at the barbacoa truck. “Is my favorite.” He looked back and forth, eyes wide. “Well I guess I made a good decision.” He smiled as he led us to the food truck. “Rosa! ¿Cómo estás, mija?” Jorge called out to me as we walked up. I watched as his gaze wandered to where I was holding mystery guys hand. “Hola Jorge, ¿bien y tú?” I smiled up at him. “Good as always, you want the usual?” He said, switching back to English. “Yeah and make it double.”I said, nodding my head towards mystery guy. “You got it, mija.” He turned and called out orders to the guys it the truck. “You speak Spanish?” Mystery guy asked as we took as seat at one of the picnic tables. “I’m half Mexican, did you just assume I was white?” I replied with a raised brow. “No, no, no, of course not.” I watched as his cheeks turned a pale pink. I let my head fall back as full body laughs shook me. “You should’ve seen your face.” I gasped through laughs. A small smile tugged at his lips as he gazed away, cheeks still tinged with embarrassment. “Orders up!” I heard Jorge call out to us. “I got it.” Mystery guy said, standing up, he quickly gave me a kiss on the forehead as he went to retrieve our food. I stared at him, mouth agape. “You’ll catch a fly like that.” He joked as he walked back, arms full of food. My mouth snapped shut at his words. I clapped my hands and did a little dance in my chair as he sat down the food. “So what are we eating?” He asked, gazing at the food. “My regular order is one mexican coke, three barbacoa tacos, and elote in a cup.” I smiled up at him, pure joy flooding my system. What can I say? I love food. “Elote?” He asked with a raised brow. “It’s seasoned corn in a cup.” I giggled, actually f*****g giggled. Someone please smack me. We sat in comfortable silence as we destroyed our food. I was sucking off barbacoa juices from my thumb when I noticed mystery guy staring at the action with heated eyes. “Hey, don’t get any ideas, I don’t put out on the first date.” “So maybe on the second date I’ll get lucky?” He gave me a smirk as he eyed me up and down. A small warning growl tumbled past my lips. “Easy there little wolf, I’m only joking.” He gave me a wink as he stood to throw our trash away. We made small talk as we headed back to his car. I hated to admit it, but he’s kind of growing on me. He held my hand as he drove me back to my dorm and I let him. When we pulled up to my dorm and once again used his speed to his advantage. “I guess now is when I’m supposed to tell you my name.” He rubbed a hand across the back of his neck awkwardly. “My name is-” Without thinking I smashed my lips with his. It was awkward at first since his mouth was half open, causing our teeth to hit, but he quickly saved it. His arms encircled my waist, pulling me flush against him. His tongue snaked its way into my mouth and fought against mine for dominance. My arms wrapped around his neck, one of my hands tangled into his hair. A soft moan left me as he pulled away from me. I felt my cheeks turn bright red as I quickly removed myself from his hold. I cleared my throat and fixed my dress. “Well I’m going to bed now.” I rushed the words out and spun on my heels. I felt his hand snatch my wrist and yank me backwards, pressing my front to his back. “Marcus Driscoll.” A shiver ran up my spine as he whispered his name against my neck and placed a soft kiss. I yanked myself free and dashed towards my dorm. Everything was a blur until I was safely in my dorm room. I closed the door gently and pressed my back to it. I slid down the hard wood until my bottom hit the floor. I bright smile spread across my lips. Best. Date. Ever.
