Allergy

"Honey, are you ready?" Xavier asks Bella as she walks into the room after dressing up.

"Maybe, maybe," Bella replies, nervousness evident in her eyes and voice.

"Oh! Come on, why are you so nervous? I don't understand!" Xavier chuckles as he sits next to Bella and grabs her hand.

"You won't understand," Bella mumbles and sulks a little as Xavier laughed at her.

"Well, I don't and why would you be so scared to go to our parent's house? I mean it's not even like I'm taking you to meet my parents for the first time. We were there. So, I don't understand. Make me understand, please." Bella shrugs.

Right now the situation is that Xavier and Bella are invited by Xavier's parents for lunch. No special reason or occasion. They just called them and invited them. It's not anything new, it happened so many times in the past. They all just randomly invite one another to each other's houses and spend some time over lunch or dinner.

whenever they find time, they spend it together. They don't need special occasions for this. It's just that simple.

However, Bella is so nervous to go and meet the parents. She had met them before, spoken to them, and gotten close to them. But, to go to their house seems like a hard task for her. She was ready when they called but now that it's time to leave, she's scared shitless. Xavier doesn't get why Bella is so nervous like she doesn't see a reason as to why. Even still, Xavier has been telling her not to be anxious and that everything will be fine, Bella can't bring herself to act normal. For god's sake, Bella herself doesn't know why she's so nervous. She doesn't remember things, but that's fine because their parents already know it. It's not like they would point fingers at her even if she makes any mistakes, so why the hell she's scared?

"I don't know. I just don't want to disappoint them, guess. I mean, I don't remember how or what that place would be and looks like. What if I unknowingly make them sad?" Bella puts forth her worry.

"Honey, they all know about you and I'm sure they'll not be disappointed by anything you do. And I know you wouldn't do anything to make them feel sad, even unknowingly. So, don't trouble yourselves with such unnecessary thoughts. Let's get going already, I don't want to be late and make you starve." Xavier's last sentence makes Bella chuckle.

Xavier was saying things seriously until she spoke about Bella being starved which kinda ruined the seriousness of the words. Nonetheless, it made Bella feel better. She sighs and makes up her mind, she's ready to go.

"Okay, I'm ready," Bella states making Xavier nod.

Getting up from the bed they walk to baby Aubrey's cradle, while Bella carries her Xavier takes her essentials bag. They leave the room and get downstairs. The driver starts the drive to Xavier's parent's house when they settle in the car.

It doesn't take long for them to reach the house as it's located near to their house.

As the car pulls in front of the house, Xavier hops out before helping Bella to get down. When Bella stands at the house, she looks up at a beautiful house. It's almost the same size as their own house but it's different init sayyyyyy. Bella feels a hand on her back and when she turns, she finds Xavier smiling at her. Returning the smile, Bella nods at Xavier when he gestures for Bella to move. They walk to the door and Xavier press the button which rings the bell. It doesn't even take a second for the door to get open. It's as if a person is waiting at the door, ready to open as soon as the bell rings.

"Welcome!" Mrs. Aom exclaims while standing in front of them as the maid opens the door.

"Thank you, mom." Xavier thanks her with a chuckle, she looks so excited.

Nodding at her, both Xavier and Bella enter the house and greet Mr. Benz who is sitting in the living room. Xavier's mother takes baby Aubrey from Bella's hand and holds her in her hands. Xavier takes a seat and pulls Bella to sit next to him as a maid brings their drinks.

They enjoy the soft and cold drink while Xavier's parents get busy with Aubrey. It's been more than a month since they have last seen her, face to face. There were days when they had video calls and saw her while speaking to them. But seeing in person is always different from watching through a screen. Bella takes a glance at them to see how they're cooing at baby Aubrey while she's giggling at them.

"Mom, the dad, look at us as well," Xavier calls his parents who are so engrossed in their granddaughter that they didn't speak anything to them.

"Oh, sorry." Mrs. Aom apologizes nervously, "how are you, Bella? Your health is fine, right?" She asks Bella, totally leaving her son who looks at her with wide eyes.

"I'm fine, mother, no problem whatsoever," Bella replies, surpassing his laugh.

"MOM!" Xavier whisper yells making the others laugh, Bella too.

"Okay, I'm just teasing you." His mother laughs, "how are you? Hopefully, no further health issues, are they?"

Mrs. Aom queries Xavier, worry prominent in her voice. Though she teased him she can't help but worry about him, a mother's heart after all. She's always worried that though he seems fine, the impact of the accident would suddenly resurface and put him in serious condition again. She talked about this with doctor Jack and he assured her there won't be anything of that sort. But as a mother, she can't help but worry.

"I'm completely fine, mom. Don't worry about us anymore." Xavier assures her making her smile with a nod.

Their conversation continues for some more time before they have their lunch. As usual, Mrs. Aom prepared all of Xavier's and Bella's favorite dishes.

"I made all your favorite dishes." Mrs. Aom says happily.

"Thank you, mom," Xavier replies while Bella nods at her restfully.

Bella stares at the food on her plate. There is a variety of seafood dishes on her plate and she said it's her favorite. But Bella can't bring herself to eat. Is this her favorite?

She wonders and shrugs it off thinking it's her who forgot the past but the others know her well. So, without dwelling much, she eats shrimp soup. The food tastes great but she just won't get the satisfaction. Not wanting to disappoint his mother-in-law, she takes a few more spoons of soup before she eats chicken.

Not very long later, their lunch finishes, and they sit in the garden with some fruits as they chat randomly. Bella feels upset, like not upset but it's her body that makes her feel tired and kinda itchy. When she rubs the place where itches, red spots appear in the area. She doesn't even talk rather just sits and watches others.

"Bella, what's wrong?" Xavier, who saw Bella falling asks her as she turns to her.

"Nothing, I just feel itchy," Bella says while gazing at Xavier.

"Your eyes are swollen!" Xavier gets up from his seat and crouches in front of Bella, looking at her worriedly.

Bella's eyes turned red and puffed up like bread. along with the rashes on his skin.

Xavier gets scared seeing the change in Bella who was fine until before. She wonders what suddenly happened to Bella.

"Are they? feel weird and my body is hurting." Bella whimpers as the itching become unbearable.

"Let's go to the hospital." Xavier stands up and pulls Bella along with him before turning to his parents, "mom, we'll be back. Look after Aubrey until then."

His mother nods at him while worriedly looking at Bella. Hurriedly, Xavier walks to the car and orders the driver to take them to the hospital. The drive goes fast and when they reach the nearby hospital, the doctor checks Bella immediately.

"Nothing serious looks like an allergy. What did she eat for lunch?" The doctor queries after thoroughly checking Bella.

"SSeafoodand chicken." Xavier answers.

"Maybe she's allergic to seafood You know some people get allergies when they eat seafood" The doctor explains.

"It's not the first time she ate." Xavier wonders.

"Oh? That's different. Usually, people won't know and realize it after eating. If it's not her first time, then she would know about it and won't eat," The doctor mumbles, "maybe she forgot. Regardless, be careful from now on."

The doctor then prescribes some medicines and they take their leave after thanking her. On the way back home, Xavier can't help but think about how did it happen. Seafood is Bella's favorite and somehow she's allergic to it.
