CHAPTER 8.2

Wyatt followed Ian's gaze. When he saw me, he dropped the controller and ran over to me. “What the hell did that bastard do to you? Mia, are you okay? I'm going to f*****g kill him." I cut off his tirade by putting my hand on his arm. "Let's go in the back. We can talk there." I didn't see Ethan anywhere, so I assumed he was with Jeff, who was also curiously missing. I led Wyatt to the patio table, and we sat down. "Wyatt, I am in love with Ethan. He's my heart and soul and I'm his. We are going to disagree and fight from time to time. Please know that he would never harm me. I'm safe with him. I would be very happy if you and he got along, because one day I plan to marry him and be with him forever. Please give us your blessing and end this feud." There. I had laid it all out. Besides Ethan, Wyatt was the most important person in my life. I needed his assurance. He looked into my eyes before replying. "Okay, Mimi. I trust you. But do you know what and who Sodero is?"  I nodded. Wyatt seemed shocked. "He confessed everything to me, and I love him anyway. He's my everything." I was sure my brother could see the honesty and love on my face. "Okay, baby sis, you have my blessing. Ethan is Abigail's brother. If both you and she love him there must be some good there." He smiled and pulled me in to a hug. As we were coming in, I spotted Ethan coming out of a room behind Doctor Mitchell. Ethan was laughing, but stopped once he saw Wyatt. He walked over, and there was a silent question between them. Wyatt released my hand and gave it to Ethan, and all was said. Wyatt looked at me one more time before returning to the living room. Ethan kissed my palm. "I love you so goddamned much, Mia Watson. You are mine forever."  I hugged him and we just held each other for a while. Ethan told me that Lena had made up over the phone with her fiance and took the first flight back to Chicago. I asked him to apologize to her on my behalf next time he spoke to her. He said he already explained everything to her, and that it was okay. Dinner was served, and everyone sat around eating heartily. There was everything from baked mussels to fettuccine alfredo. Ethan sat next to me and traced circles on my upper thigh as we fed each other. Abigail sat in Wyatt's lap to eat causing a couple of snickers from the table. Ian made fun of Ethan and Wyatt for being so whipped. But when Valerie declared she was cold, he almost broke his neck getting her a shawl from the living room. We all laughed at him. Jeff and Eleanor were wonderful hosts and kept up the conversation throughout dinner. The guys made a date to all go fishing together in two weeks, and Abigail set up a spa day for us girls. My heart swelled with happiness to see Ethan so at home with his family I was so caught up in the emotions around me that I began to cry. Ethan looked concerned. "What's wrong, baby doll? Are you okay?" I leaned over and kissed his forehead. "I'm just happy. That's all, Ethan. I love you." We finished dinner and dessert and then retired to the sitting room. Eleanor convinced Ethan to play the piano. He played an instrumental version of "Wild Horses" and all the couples danced. I sat on the piano bench next to Ethan, my arm around his waist. When he was done, we shared a deep kiss. Of course I blushed when everyone applauded. After the music, it was time to go. We all set up a date to have dinner again soon. Valerie, Ian, and the twins were spending the night. Eleanor invited the rest of us to join them. Wyatt and Abigail accepted, but Ethan and I declined. We needed to be alone together. Eleanor seemed to understand. She and Jeff gave us one last hug. Then Ethan took my hand and helped me put my cardigan. He led me out to the car. By then I was exhausted, so when we got in the car, I started to fall asleep. I felt Ethan pull me closer and whisper love words to me.  There would be many obstacles for us, but I was willing to fight with everything I had to be with my love. For once, I welcomed my dreams, because I knew they would all be of Ethan. He was close to me, and no distance could tear us apart.
