The Curse of the Blood Moon
Sarah's POV.
The evening was finally approaching,The lunar eclipse standing visibly in the evening sky.
As I lay still in my room with my eyes fixed on the top of the ceiling, I thought deeper in an attempt to decipher what Lucian the beta had said to me previously.
"I know you have got questions, but don't worry about it, It's not for a slave mate to know the Alpha's deep secrets" His words resonated yet again, causing me to suspect Alpha Jared even more.
As I pondered inwardly, striving to get my mind to understand the situation, I heard the Emergency alarm system go off from the outside of the town as commotion followed.
In an effort to satisfy my curiosity I looked out through the window, as I noticed the once-peaceful pack members running in undue haste, while the rest barricaded themselves indoors.
A mixture of terror and curiosity engulfed my being at the sight I've just witnessed.
Just then I recalled Lucian's last words to me before heading back to the Alpha's chamber.
"But why did he warn me not to step out the door until someone comes to get me?? What's really going on in this pack?" I questioned internally, still confused about the situation.
In a quest to find answers for myself, I turned to the exit door, ready to step out of the castle and see for myself what was the reason for the chaotic events unfolding.
"Open up Sarah, there's an impending danger and I have to get you to safety" A voice came barking from the other side of the door.
In desperation to know what was happening in the pack I unlocked the door and there stood Lucian, the Beta of the pack.
"Lucian what's happening??" I questioned, anxious to know what was happening.
"I'll explain later Sarah, for now we have to move while we still can!" Lucian uttered as he grabbed my hand and hurried me out of the room.
As we ran down the stairs in an attempt to navigate our way out of the mansion I could hear thunderous growlings coming from a dark dungeon-like room inside the mansion.
"What was that, Lucian?" I questioned again in an attempt to get him to start talking. But he kept silent, ignoring my every question, still running towards the exit door.
In frustration I pulled my hand off his grip causing him to come to a halt.
"I may be a slave mate to your Alpha but I am still your Luna, And I demand that you show me the respect that I deserve Lucian" I vocalised authoritatively, my face etched with curiosity and anxiety.
But truth be heard, I was f*****g losing my mind, fear and anxiety couldn't stop crawling all over my skin.
He paused for a second looking troubled but then, he opened up.
"You want the truth? fine!!! The Alpha has lost control over his wolf again Sarah. He is cursed with the Curse of the blood moon and if we don't get the hell out of here this instant we are dead meat, My Luna! '' He divulged, making me fear and tremble for my well being.
"Now, can we go?" Lucian asked and without delay, I nodded my head incessantly.
I never knew about this, I never knew that the one Ruthless Alpha I was forced to be married to, to be a slave to was cursed.
Just then, Beta Lucian grabbed my hand again and just when we were about to head out of the mansion, I suddenly sighted a monstrous figure charging towards us from the dungeon we had just passed.
"Lucian he's coming!!" I screamed in terror, seeing what grave danger we were in.
"Oh no! This isn't it, Alpha!" He panicked, turning to look back at the monster coming towards us.
"Save yourself Sarah I'll hold him off" Lucian uttered, turning to face the ferocious beast.
I didn't wait to get another order from him, I instantly kept running at full speed towards an unknown location trying to escape this fatal fate.
As I ran a few steps away from the mansion, I heard a piercing loud growl from behind which I assumed was Lucian defending himself from getting hurt by the Alpha.
I ran deep into the dark isolated parts of the town as I cowered in great fear, my heart beating profusely fast like it was going to jump out of my chest. I prayed to the goddesses of the moon for safety as I continued racing with my legs all weak and tired.
I suddenly fell to my knees, my body forcefully colliding with the hard concrete floor as my legs had grown weaker and wobbly.
With the last ounce of strength, I raised my wounded body up from the interlocked concrete floor but then, I instantly witnessed my worst nightmare standing before my eyes.
There he was, The savage monstrous figure standing in the shadows, with his crimson red eyes staring deep into my soul.
I fixed my eyes on him and then it dawned on me that it in fact had the physiques of a male figure.
"Alpha?" I questioned inwardly as I still maintained eye contact with the Beast.
From where I stood I could sense a dark ambience of rage flowing from him and the thirst for blood visible in his eyes.
Just then, he charged viciously with a speed fast as light and I couldn't stand and let him get me.
I jerked in terror and turned on my heels, trying to get myself to safety and even worse, my wolf had refused to be awakened.
"Please!! Please!" I panted in short gasps and I kept racing thinking I could escape his grip but then, he caught me.
I fell to the ground and he instantly stood over me, his monstrous figure looming right over me while I remained beneath him panting.
"Don't kill me please! Please!" I cried out, tears rolling uncontrollably from my eyes as I stared at him.
Ignoring my pleas, he raised his shiny claws to land a bone shattering s***h on me, to kill me.
I couldn't help but struggle to set myself free from his grip. But nothing proved to be right.
Just then, seeing I couldn't do anything to help myself get out of the situation, I tightened my eyes ready to meet my nemesis.
"I guess this is how it ends for me." I mumbled, tears trickling down from my eyes.
A few seconds had passed and I still didn't get the head smashing s***h that I expected so I opened my eyes slowly while quivering uncontrollably in fear for my life.
I opened my eyes and before me was the Alpha, now half human and half his wolf form trying violently to resist the power of the blood moon upon him.
"Arrrrgggh!"
He growled in pain as he held his head as if he was possessed of an entity more stronger than his mind.
Despite his efforts, the curse still took hold, as I watched the once powerful Alpha growl in anguish and suffering.
"Run you fool!! I can't hold it for long! I can't control it that long!!" The Alpha bellowed in agony trying to warn me.
Normally this was my chance to flee the scene and let the Alpha battle whatever it is he was fighting alone with but I halted and took deliberate steps towards him, a sense of urgency coursing through my veins.
"I don't care what you do to me Alpha Jared, You're my mate and I can't just leave you to fight this curse alone" I asserted, tightening my fist.
But suddenly, I felt sharp and intense pain below my chest region and instantly, I found myself coughing out blood.
"What just happened to me, Jared?" I fought to say, my words shaky and choking.
My legs became weak as I wobbled backwards away from the Alpha.
I helplessly fell to the ground as I opened my eyes to take one last glance at the Alpha still battling to power down his wolf and that was all I could recall.
