Prologue

310 Words
The forest is filled with towering trees and endless darkness. As the wind whistled, it carried the sound of leaves rustling along with the howls and growls of dozens of wolves and the smell of raw flesh. Amidst all this, there’s a black wolf running through the forest with its paws thumping on the wet grass, avoiding trees, and jumping over trunks lying on the ground. The black wolf heard a twig snap from its right, so it immediately crouched, avoiding the claw of the brown wolf from scratching its back. The black wolf immediately bit the neck of the other one, slamming it into a tree and tearing its throat out. The black wolf spit the flesh on the ground, then continued running downhill, leaving the dead wolf behind. The black wolf kept on running until it reached the road where a black van was driving past. It could hear the other wolves getting closer, so the black wolf broke into a sprint to chase the van. The van’s backdoor flew open to reveal a guy beckoning the wolf to go faster. The guy shouted something to the driver and the van went a little slower, enough for the wolf to catch up. After jumping into the van, the guy closed the backdoor while the wolf underwent a transformation. Its bones started shifting, making a snapping and cracking sound. The black wolf turned into a girl, and she immediately took the clothes offered to her by the guy and put them on. She looked back at the wolves chasing her earlier, unable to chase after them anymore because they were entering a populated area already. She thought to herself, Goodbye, Nightfall. I’m sorry but, I hope I never see you guys again. She thought as she and the other people in the van cut their ties with the pack.
