Dinner that evening was tense. It was made even more uncomfortable by the fact that Margaret did not realize this, as she spent the entire time ruminating over the identity of the person who had written the note that she did not disperse the tension, as she usually did. The atmosphere was chilly and unfriendly. Elizabeth and Anthony were, for reasons unknown, not on the friendliest of terms. The apathy seemed to be completely one-sided, though, as Anthony kept trying to make conversation with an irate Elizabeth, who kept her replies as short and uninviting to further conversation as she could.
