Later that week, Anthony asked her to plan their visit to the Palace for the following week, saying that he would rather conduct his business while they were there and save some time, so that they would not have to go back to town any time soon. Margaret wanted to object, because she wanted to go to the Palace at least once every fortnight, but she knew the importance of picking one's battles, and so she kept quiet about it for now. She would argue with him if it came up again. Beyond that they spoke as freely and normally as they had before the night of Anthony's drunken kiss. Anthony did not bring it up the next morning, or any time thereafter, so Margaret reckoned that he had no recollection of it. It had not meant anything.
