Chapter 10: Tina?

1512 Words
Alex walked into the living room and froze momentarily as he found his sister sitting on the couch while playing with her phone. "Tina?" Alex called out to his sister while feeling lost. "W-what are you doing here?" He finally found his voice as he stammered. She heard this question and stood up immediately as she moved closer to where Alex was standing with Greg and hissed indignantly. Her phone was long forgotten on the couch as she was ready to blast someone. "Of course, this is my brother's apartment. So I can come to this place anytime I want to. And you, what are you doing with him and why is he so drunk?" Tina looked coldly at Greg who was fast asleep in her brother's arm and became infuriated. "He... we...." Alex didn't know what to say or how to give his tigress of a sister an answer to her question. "Don't tell me that you're still hanging out with him after he refused to get engaged with me? Do you know how much I love and hate him at the same time?" Tina asked with her face almost red with anger. Alex couldn't still say anything as he opened and closed his mouth. He just stood there and watched his sister speechlessly, he could also feel the pain that she was going through. "Ha.... I can't believe that my brother of all people is still siding with my enemy" Tina laughed bitterly with her lips curled up while looking down but she suddenly paused, raise her head up and threw a scathing glare at her brother and Greg who was totally unaware of what was happening. "No matter what, you're my brother and it's either you chose me or that fool in your arms" And with this statement, she stormed out of the living room and towards the guest room. Alex felt frustrated with this type of situation as he wondered how the hell he's going to choose between his sister and best friend. God knows that he couldn't make that decision, instead, he wanted the two to stay by his side. And so he carried Greg to his room, laid him down on his bed and ran out to the other room to meet his sister. He needs to talk some senses into her love-hate clouded mind. Alex knocked so many times on the door but got no response, but he persisted. He didn't want this matter to continue this way without helping the two to break away from this pain. "Tina, please open the door" He pleaded. "Go away, I don't want to talk to you" Tina shouted from inside the room as she couldn't endure it anymore. "Tina I know that you're angry but can you please calm down and listen to me?" Alex said, not wanting to give up just like that and so he continued to knock on the door. He knocked several times without any response and so he decided to let her be for now, he could see that she was bent on not talking to him. But just when he was about to go back to his room, the door was suddenly opened with Tina standing there. She stared at him for a while, before giving way for him to enter. Alex smiled appreciatively at her as he entered the room while she closed the door and then folded her arms to her chest. She gazed intently at Alex and she appeared to be curious as to what he'd to tell her and uninterested at the same time. "Tina, you are my twin sister and the only sister that I have in this whole world, which is why I wouldn't want you to live a life of misery" Alex tried to persuade his sister as he moved closer to her and held her hands with his. "You are the sister that I love so and cherish so much and I want you to think about this, do you really believe that getting engaged to Greg is all? What about his love and affection?" Tina pursed her lips as she kept gaze fixated on the floor. She was silent but that only assured Alex that she was paying attention to him, otherwise, she would've shoved him out of yhe room. Alex took her silence as an opportunity to talk more sense into the sister he loved. "The three of us have been together since we were kids and we're like family, we ate, played and laughed together. Don't tell me that you want to throw all that away? And I remember him caring about you so much and in so many ways that even I your brother couldn't. Why is it that you still don't understand his feelings towards you?" Seeing that Tina wasn't ready to look him in the eyes, talk more of answering his question, Alex smiled and held onto her chin as he gently raised her face up to look at him. And eyes met, "Huh?" He asked with his brows raised up while a warm and caring smile was plastered on his handsome face. The two brother and sister looked identical except the fact that their hair color was different. While Alex's hair was brown like their mother's, Tina's was dark like that of their father's. She was of course a very beautiful and clever lady that goes for what she wants. Tina averted her gaze shyly before opening her mouth, "He only cares for me like a sister" She mumbled as she finally welcomed the reality she'd tried several times to push to the back of her mind. She didn't want to accept that fact at all. "That's right" Alex nodded at her reply. "That's why you shouldn't force him to get engaged to you because both of you will end up suffering. Truly, he will never stop caring about you but what about as a partner? You should know how painful it is to be in a relationship with someone that doesn't feel that way for you" "Alex" Tina called out with teary eyes as she rushed into Alex's open arms.. "I know how difficult it is to let go" Alex said as he patted her back soothingly. "It hurts him and me also to see you sad all the time" Greg woke up with a piercing headache hammering his head as though it'd burst at any second. He slowly opened his eyes and squinted at the dazzling bright sunlight covering the whole room that was decorated in blue and cream color, with blue curtains which indicated that he wasn't in his room, since he's was decorated in white, gray and black. nevertheless, he didn't need to think hard to know whose room he'd crashed in yesterday night. "Ahhh..." He winced in pain and held onto his head as the headache became unbearable when he tried to remember what'd happened yesterday. He remembered some and the rest was history since he'd make sure to stuff himself with excessive amount of alcohol. Greg paused as he felt someone else in the room with him. He slowly tilted his head to the side to meet the burning gaze that was directed at him without flinching, he became startled and sat up immediately with one hand holding onto his aching head. "T-Tina....why are you you here?" Greg stuttered. "Ha... why are am I here?" Tina snorted coldly then paused and then looked at Greg like she was looking at a total fool. "Shouldn't it be, what are you, Greg doing here?" "I'm sorry, Tina" Greg apologized unconsciously, but in his voice there was a patent sincerity, remorse and guilt. It seems that Tina was still angry with him and there was nothing he could do but to repeat those two words anytime they meet since he couldn't love her back. Tina stared at Greg while he said those words to her and was suddenly filled with a different type of anger; this time, towards herself for loving someone impossible. This person gave her so much care that she felt her heart moving for him and finally falling for him. She fell in love with Greg and then talked to his father about getting engaged to him. Now, looking back at the things that has happened so far, she felt that she was very stupid for misunderstanding this person's intentions towards her. He was always there for her, both in good and bad times but the most important thing was that, he did all this because he sees her as his sister and nothing more. "Should I really l let go of him like my brother said?" Tina thought within herself, as she pondered over it seriously with a concentrated look on her face. Greg just stared but had nothing to say as he waited for the next action from Tina. As a no nosense and decisive lady she is, she might throw him out the house along with his bitchy headache that was still trying to knock him out.
