Rose's Point of View:
I dragged Leo deep in the woods and shivered as the air thickened. I walked until I reached the cabin, where I found Starlet still sprawled out motionless on the floor. Then the idea struck me. Leo was going to wake up staring at the body he had stabbed. Laughing quietly to myself, I lifted Leo up onto the bed and looked around for some rope to tie him with.
When I finished tying him tightly to the bedposts, I built myself a fire in the fireplace, squatting close to it and shivering. I sat silently, staring into the hot, dancing flames. The room was quiet and all I could hear was the crackling of the fire and the slight sounds of Leo’s breathing; in and out, in and out.
As I sat there, the lights above me began to flicker and I heard faint giggling from behind me. I spun around quickly, expecting to find Leo already awake and ready for a fight, but Leo was still knocked out cold, sleeping peacefully.
A chill passed through me and I turned back to the fire, listening carefully. There it was again! Light whispers and what seems to be what sounded like a little girl’s gleeful laughter. I spun around again, sure that I wasn’t just hearing things. Just where was it coming from?
That’s when I saw her for the very first time. Just a little girl, about four or five, standing at the foot of Leo’s bed, giggling with delight as she stared down at him. My stomach tightened and something told me that there was defiantly something off about her.
The child’s skin was paler than anyone’s I’ve ever seen and her unkempt black hair stuck to most of her face. I could see only her little, beady, black eyes and her mouth. Her mouth was partly the reason why I felt so uneasy about her. It was stained with dark red- it being lipstick or its natural color, I don’t know- but there was something about the way her mouth curled up into a chaotic smile, revealing all of her yellow, pointy teeth.
The girl’s eyes darted over to Starlet and her eyes lit up. My whole body tensed as I watched her walk past me over to Starlet, not seeming to have taken any notice in me. My muscles locked and my heart pounded; I didn’t dare move, afraid to catch this terrifying girl’s attention.
She stopped next to the body and I watched in horror as her face slowly began changing. Her mouth grew wider across her face, too big to fit most faces. Her beady eyes rolled to the back of her skull, only showing empty sockets. Her tongue flicked out, almost nine, ten inches long. It was a petrifying sight as I watched the now hideous monster bend down and, unhinging its jaw, take a huge bit out of Starlet’s stomach.
A small whimper escaped my mouth and the creature spun around, blood dripping off her lips. I stumbled back petrified as she started my way in quick, long strides. The monster hovered over me now, her long tongue licking off the rest of the blood that ran down her chin. I swallowed hard, heart pounding violently in my rib cage. I was trapped.
The ugly creature reached a boney hand towards me, and I squeezed my eyes shut, crying-no begging for it to stop. As soon as I said this, I felt a sudden rush of energy rush through me. A second later, I heard an ear-ringing shriek and opened my eyes to find the demon trying to fight off chains that had closed around her throat. She fought hard, letting out deafening screams, but lost as she was forced onto her hands and knees, finally defeated.
I stared at the creature in bewilderment. What… just happened? A bright, yellow light was glowing on my hand and I raised it to find that the light was coming from the ring.
“The ring!” I cried, remembering it. I can’t believe that I’ve forgotten about it! How can I forget that such power was now in my possession?
Another weird thought came to me. Was I actually planning on creating demons in my book before this? I hadn’t made up my mind about it completely, but I guess now it’s been made up since here I am, standing in front of the ghastly thing, forced on its knees, reluctantly bowing before me.
Bravely, I took a step closer to her, holding the ring out in front of me. The demon let out an empty moan, the hallowed sound filling the room. I studied the ring closely, thoughts reeling once again.
“So I’m in charge of demons…” I said, but even when I said it aloud, it still sounded ridiculous. I looked back at where the demon cowered, her face had transformed back into a little girl.
“What’s your name?” I asked. The she-demon made a face of disgust, but still replied “Amiusha”. She answered with a sound unlike any I’ve ever heard. I blinked. “What?”
“Amiusha,” the girl said, struggling to lift her head to look at me. “It’s a name that is not known in the human language.”
“Alright…” I said. “Do you have a HUMAN name that you’d like to be called then?” The girl’s eyes narrowed at me before she looked back to the floor.
“Alice,’ she muttered. I smiled brightly when I heard this.
“Alright Alice!” I said, clapping my hands together. “I want you to stay here and watch Leo for me!” Alice raised an eyebrow, looking over at the sleeping body on tied to the bed.
“You want me to watch an unconscious boy?” she asked sounding amused. “He still looks like he’s in high school! What were you thinking, tying him up like that?” Heat filled my face when I realized what it might have looked like to others.
“Just... watch him, okay? He’s a dangerous guy, Alice. I don’t want him hurting anyone again.” Alice rolled her in annoyance.
“Fine,” she said. “I’ll watch the unconscious, tied up, helpless boy.” Feeling flustered, I started outside, then stopped.
“And no,” I said, not turning around. I could feel that Alice had moved, being unchained by her agreement. “You can’t continue eating Starlet.” I turned around to find that Alice had paused over Starlet’s body, holding one of her arms to her mouth.
“Screw you,” she muttered. Finally feeling accomplished, I turned back around, grinning from ear to ear, and walked out into the chilly night.
Good. Now Leo won’t be able to hurt Lilith or anyone else. He’s stuck here until I come back to fetch him. But little did I know it wasn't going to be that easy to stop a psychotic killer from trying to get what he wants.
