“If you live to be a hundred, I want to live to be a hundred minus one day so I never have to live without you.” – A. A. Milne
"Okay, yeah Mr Fitz I got it. You can get your dresses by tomorrow. Yes, I am so sorry. Yeah, see you tomorrow." Mia ended the call and took a large gulp of air, it was the third day since she has been here in New York and the work at the parlour was blabbering along with a lot extra number of customers.
"Emily? Are the dresses ready for Mr Fitz?" Mia asked as she kept down her phone and the papers with all the orders and designs.
"The black feather one right? It will be ready by tomorrow." Emily responded as she stuck a dress tightly on a mannequin.
"Emily it has to be ready by today, they have to pick it tomorrow. Mr Fitz will kill me." Mia responded as she took the pin from Emily’s hand and took a second to sort the dress out.
"Thanks" Emily smiled in appreciation earning a glare from Mia "And I will tell Taylor to start working faster." She responded not to flair her anger anymore.
"Hey, where is Xavier by the way. I have not seen him since the day I picked you guys up from the airport." She asked curiously pushing herself on one of the seats.
"He..he had some work around. You will see him soon." Mia responded trying to get herself busy with work. She hadn’t seen him, for three days. He left early the morning and hadn’t returned. Somehow she has contended that he was gone for good and she could be free but she knew better than anyone that he was not someone to get easily rid of.
"Hm, you know, you still didn’t tell me how you guys met." She asked. As much as Mia wanted to, she couldn’t tell her the truth. She can’t put yet another person in danger.
"He knows my brother, we met at one of my brother’s parties. We clicked the first time, and he asked me out and then here we are." She shrugged sharpening the edge to the pencil nervously.
"Ah, but I thought you were with –"
"We broke up, he..he dumped me," Mia answered instantly not wanting to even think about what happened. It’s funny how you think you know a person and then suddenly they show you, you knew nothing.
"I am sorry Mia, he was a bastard to let you go," Emily responded placing a hand on Mia's shoulder. "Plus now you totally have a hot Calvin Klein model." She winked at her and giggling like a schoolgirl.
"Yeah, now tell Taylor to hurry up!" Mia reminded her chuckling lightly.
"You got it, boss!" Emily shouted as an answer and returned to the back of the parlour to set up the dress and tell Taylor to hurry up.
How did you even think any of this would work out? I never loved you, Mia! We met 4 months ago! I can’t love you. And you were just too naive to understand that.
"Do you usually stand in front of these designs and pray that they draw themselves on their own? "
The voice suddenly startled Mia as all the papers in her hand got knocked down. She locked up and saw Xavier standing in front of her, holding a cup of coffee in his hand. She could use some of that right now.
"You scared me and ruined my arrangements. I have to arrange them all over again." She answered irritated, she spent two hours settling all of these records.
"Well that’s not how you welcome your boyfriend" he smirked and kept the coffee aside to help her pick some of the pages. "And this is good." He pointed at a black swan dress which was yet to be started.
"That’s not done," she answered and snatched the paper from his hand, lending to pick all the papers up in a swift motion.
"So, when see we going home?" Xavier asked as if unaffected by Mia's irritation.
"I am working right now, you can go wherever you want." She answered without bothering to look at him.
"The thing is princess," he started to answer, placing his hands on her waist and hugging her from behind. Mia's heart reached a thousand miles as soon as his hand touched her skin, leaving shivers all over her body. "I want to go home with you. Right now. Don’t argue." He answered in a determined tone, making it very clear that Mia didn’t have a choice here.
"Mia see the dress-" the voice startled them, as she took this opportunity to quickly wiggle out of Xavier's arms.
"Taylor hey, how is the dress going?" Mia asked tugging her hair behind her hair. She just recently hired Taylor when the previous tailor left. Well, technically Emily asked her to hire someone, for the stitching. She knew Emily had a crush on him, and no matter how much she didn't want want to admit it he was really handsome. His jet black hair leaning on his forehead, while his eyes were brown and captivating. All the good looks were quite what was all needed and the sense of fashion just comes in handy.
"Sorry I didn’t know you were busy." He trailed setting a piece of clothing on the table.
"Oh no no, I was not. Show me what you got there." Mia answered moving forward to see the material on the table.
"Tim is it? I am Xavier" Xavier introduced shaking his hand, his face left with un-called emotions "Mia's boyfriend."
Why does he have to say it like that? Like he means what he is saying.
"Oh, hi. Nice to meet you, man! It's Taylor by the way"
Before Xavier could say anymore, Mia quickly snatched the attention towards her and started to question Taylor about the dress.
"I think you should try it out once to see if there are some issues with it. Other than that it is all done"
"Yeah, I will-"
"She will try it at home, we have a dinner to be at." Xavier quickly cut Mia off before she could answer him. "Don’t we sweetheart." He asked placing a hand on her back and lightly tugging her skin with his fingers.
"Yeah, I will let you know how it is once I get home." Mia trailed off without meeting Taylor's eyes. "Tell Emily to look after the shop while I am gone." She responded moving out of Xavier’s grip and putting the dress in a bag.
"I will see you tomorrow Taylor." She greeted walking out of the shop with Xavier hot on her trial.
"What is your freaking problem? Why is everything I –"
"Get in the car Mia," Xavier asked meeting his eyes with hers. He's asking for no argument.
Well, when has he ever listened to someone?
