Chapter 7; 162 candles

2919 Words
Lilly Not much had happened over the past couple of days, it’s just been full of a newbie vampire and finding the necklace, which thankfully I found. I don’t know why I didn’t think about it when Damon was down in the cell, but it finally hit me the other day, Caroline. She was with Damon that night and since Damon didn’t have it on him that left Caroline. Thankfully I didn’t have to do anything since when I found Caroline at the high school she was handing the necklace over to Bonnie, the witch that I needed to make sure got the necklace. I couldn’t risk rising suspicion, not since it was made clear that the council is now hunting us. The device I found the night Vicki became a vampire, on Logan Fell is a compass that I saw back in 1864, it helped the person holding the compass to detect vampires, which is how Logan managed to find Stefan. Vicki, she made a b***h of a vampire, I didn’t particularly like her, she caused too much trouble for us to deal with while we had the council hunting us. She ended up leaving the boarding house to go meet up with Jeremy at the High school’s Halloween party, who she later tried to kill but Elena got in the way and got bit herself before Stef swooped in and staked Vicki, all in front of Jeremy. Of course me and Damon had to clean up the mess, well Damon more than me, all I really did was spare Elena a few more days of walking on this earth. The b***h thought it was a good idea to slap me around the face blaming all of it on me and Damon. Damon ended up burying the body and then compelled Jeremy to forget everything he saw and to think that Vicki had left town and she wasn’t coming back. It also turns out that Zach was part of the council and provided them with vervain, and Damon conveniently let it drop that he knew about vampires and since Zach was ‘out of town’ they could speak to Damon about it, and because they know vampires are back in town they want more vervain for the councils kids, families and the rest of the founding families. I swear, this god damn council has ruined my life since the day I was born. “You didn’t even know Katherine” I raised my eyebrows wondering who Stefan was talking to, until a voice I knew all too well spoke up. “Cause’ if I did I’d kick her ass, little b***h” You’ve got be bleeding kidding me! I should have known she’d be here, it is Stefans birthday after all, and what type of best friend would she be if she didn’t visit him on his 162nd birthday? Knowing that my day in bed with alcohol wasn’t going to happen I climbed out of bed making my way into my bathroom so I could get freshened up before getting changed into some light washed jeans, a burgundy long sleeved crop top, a sleeveless denim jacket and some Giuseppe Zanotti heeled ankle boots. Once I was ready I made my way past Stefs room popping my head in to see him getting ready to go out and Lexi laid on his bed. “I’m going out. Leave me alone for the day” I warned making him nod. I flicked my eyes over to Lexi glaring at her. “Lexi” I ground out staring at her. “Lilly… I should’ve known you’d be here” I chuckled smirking at her, but not stopping the glare I was sending her. “It’s called the Salvatore boarding house for a reason” I pointed out still with the glare. We’ve never got on, she walked around thinking she was better than the rest of us, claiming to be one of the best at controlling her thirst, which is why she offered to help Stefan out with his thirst for human blood. She’s 350 years old and even after all this time she still walked around thinking she was the best of the best. Just because she’s never relished in being a vampire doesn’t mean she’s better than the rest of us. She lectures me all the time about my feeding habits, but the way I see it is, if humans can feed off animals why can’t we feed of humans? It’s the food chain. Vampires are at the top, the best of the best. Looking over at Stef I smirked at him. “Happy birthday, Steffie” He nodded his head in thanks before I started to walk off but I stopped in my tracks when Lexi decided to open her ugly trap she calls a mouth. “It’s your brothers birthday you self-centred b***h. The least you could do is celebrate it with him” I sped towards her wrapping my hand around her throat, slamming her against the wall. “I’m well aware that it’s Steffie’s birthday, have you not just heard me? And I’d much rather spend my day alone than with you or Stefan” I snapped glaring at her as she tried to get out of my hold, but it was no use. “You may be older, but I’m stronger. Remember that” I squeezed my hand tighter before pushing her against the wall and letting her drop to the floor. I looked over at Stefan who was looking at me with pity, but I just ignored the look and sped out of the house and towards the grill. Since my plan for staying in bed all day and drowning my sorrows with alcohol didn’t exactly work, I decided to drown my sorrows here. I walked straight over to the bar compelling myself a bottle of whiskey and a glass so I didn’t look like an i***t sat at the bar looking like a loner alcoholic, even though technically I am, I don’t have any friends, I have food. I’ve met a few vamps over the years, but none that I actually remember or bothered to keep in contact with, I’d prefer to be just me. That way you don’t get hurt and you only have to protect yourself. Half way through the bottle Damon came and joined me for a drink to let me know that he had been to the Sheriff’s office to give her some vervain which the council wanted, and he also did some digging to see how the vampire hunt was going, and apparently they believe that the whole ‘Vampires can only come out at night’ is a load of c**k-a-bull, so now they’re starting to look into who arrived in town the day the killings started. “So what’s Damon Salvatore’s plan?” I asked not even bothering to look at him since I wasn’t really interested. “I heard that Caroline’s throwing a party here tonight, who knows what could happen” He shrugged grabbing my bottle having a swag before leaving me here to sit and think about the last 168 years. Well more particularly, why I don’t like November 1st. Exactly 177 years ago, in 1860 Giuseppe beat me near to death, he hated me that much he would try and kill his own daughter, and if it wasn’t for a maid stopping him he would probably have succeeded. I was the disgrace to the family, I was 19 and un-married, I held something that they all hated me for, I did something that brought even more shame onto the family name, I think that was the one thing that made him hate me even more. Damon and Stefan never bothered to help me, or even try and stop him, they hated me just as much as Giuseppe did. They let their hatred come before helping their sister. Shaking my head I grabbed the bottle taking a swag not bothered if anyone saw me, it’s not like it’s 1864 where women had to be ladylike, but that’s a good thing since I’m nowhere near being lady like. I downed the rest of the bottle before leaving, I decided to nip out of town for a meal, I wasn’t gonna get anyone from here just to risk the council hunting me down. After a quick snack I went back to the boarding house to get changed, I couldn’t go to a party with a little blood stain on my clothes. I changed into some denim jeans, a Nude crop top and some beige Valentino shoes, leaving my hair and makeup the way it is before grabbing my phone making my way to the grill where I was guessing Damon, Stefan and Lexi was since nobody was at the boarding house. Walking into the bar I let out a groan, it was full of teenagers, Stefan and Lexi was by the pool table having a game, Damon was stood talking to Elena as they watched Steffie and Lexi. I rolled my eyes before walking over to the bar ordering myself a glass of wine looking around just as Lexi came walking over compelling herself 3 shot of tequila before walking over to Elena. I went to listen into their conversation but instead Damon came walking over to me. “Be careful tonight, Lilly” He spoke lowly before ordering himself a drink, I rolled my eyes as I picked up my glass of wine. “Whatever you’re planning, I want in” I spoke turning my head towards him. “It’s already been done” I huffed downing the glass of wine before flagging the bar man down. “A bottle of tequila” I told him before looking over at Damon who was staring at me. “How much have you drunk today?” I groaned shaking my head. “Not nearly enough… What is it that you’re upto anyway? Why are you in town?” I asked raising my eyebrows wanting to know if he’d tell me the truth or not. “That my sister is a surprise” He smirked at me, acting like I didn’t know I rolled my eyes. “Of course it is” I mumbled before having a drink of the tequila looking around at the bar, my eyes landing on a drink Caroline who Matt picked up throwing her over his shoulder. Humans can never handle their alcohol. “Alright, the shots are a bribe… What are you both really doing here in Mystic Falls?” Lexi asked as she placed 2 shots out in front of us, with her standing in between us both. I looked towards her as I picked up the shot and downing it. “Cheers for the shot munchkin, but unfortunately for you, I don’t do bribes” She glared at me, and if looks could kill I’d be 6ft under right now in my final resting place. “I have a diabolical master plan” Damon smirked at her as he downed his own shot. “What is it?” She asked been a bit nosey. “Now if I told you that it wouldn’t be very diabolical now, would it?” “Whatever it is, don’t ruin Stefan’s birthday” She glared at us both making me smirk raising my eyebrows. “You know, anyone would think you’re in love with little Steffie always sticking up for him like 2 little teenage loved up fools” “He’s my best friend Lilly” She gritted out making me smirk, but before I could say anything to her Liz walked over to us shoving a needle into Lexi’s hip. I stood up along with Damon looking at Liz in shock before looking around us. “What are you doing?” Damon whispered looking over at Liz. “Thank you for the vervain, now if you’ll excuse me” Liz looked at us both before walking off, 2 deputies dragging Lexi with them. I stared after them before looking around to see if anyone saw what had just happened and my eyes landed on Stefan and Elena who was watching. I can’t believe this was Damon’s plan all along, he could’ve at least involved me in it, I hate being out of the loop. “Excuse me” Damon mumbled before walking off no doubt making sure Lexi didn’t bring mine and Damon’s names into it. As Damon left Stefan and Elena joined me making me groan knowing he’d sure have something to say about this. “What’s going on?” Steffie asked getting a shrug of the shoulders from me. I wasn’t gonna be the one to tell him that his best friend is no doubt dead. “Elena, stay here with Lilly” Stefan told her before walking towards the back so he could leave. “Yeah, sure, have a seat Elena” I mumbled before downing the tequila having a good look at her. It was kind of freaky seeing the resemblance of Katherine. “So how are you? You know after the whole confrontation” I asked raising my eyebrows. “Still coming to terms with it” She shrugged messing with the sleeve of her top. “Yeah, that’ll probably take a while. Everything you thought was a myth or whatever is in fact true. Well parts of it” I chuckled smirking at her. “Are you drunk?” She raised her eyebrows smiling at me in amusement. “Not as drunk as I wish I was” I grumbled waving down the bar man, as he came walking over with a bottle of whiskey in his hands I leant over the bar and grabbed it. “Hey, you ca-“ I cut him off as my eyes connected with his. “I can have the bottle, and it’s on the house” I compelled. “You can have the bottle, and it’s on the house” I smiled “Thank you” He walked off not saying anything as I turned my attention back to Elena. “Gotta love compulsion” I smirked at Elena making her look at me worried. “Don’t worry I’m not gonna compel you, that little necklace Steffie gave you protects you” I nodded to said necklace finally taking a notice of it, and it looked very familiar. “What happened with Lexi?” She asked making me snap my eyes to hers. “She was injected with vervain, I’m sure Steffie’s told you everything” She slowly nodded her head making me chuckle. “You don’t seem bothered about it” I took a drink of the whiskey before looking back at her. “Why would I? She’s 350 years old, she’s lived her life and this way the council won’t suspect me or my brothers being the vampires” I shrugged having another drink. I could feel Elena’s eyes on me but I didn’t bother to say anything instead I sat and drank my whiskey until Stefan came storming over to us, not looking happy, which is an everyday occurrence with Broody Steffie. “If you keep frowning Steffie you’ll only give yourself more frown lines” I chuckled but he didn’t find it funny. “Damon’s just killed Lexi” I sighed before having a drink of the whiskey. “W-what?” Elena stuttered. Apparently Lexi managed to knock the deputies out but Liz shot her but she still wouldn’t go down and then Damon came swooping in staking her. I tried to explain that he was doing this to get the council off our arse but he wasn’t having any of it. He took Elena home leaving me here at the Grill, so I finished my bottle of whiskey before heading home having enough of this day. As I walked into the boarding house I was welcomed to Damon and Stefan arguing about the whole Lexi thing. “Well what a wonderful time to come home” I spoke as Stefan shoved a stake into Damon’s stomach. “You missed” Damon whispered looking at Steffie, I rolled my eyes and walked into my room having enough of the brother arguments. Brothers. Who’d want them? In fact does anyone want mine?
