Chapter 4

Ava's Point of View I wake up slowly, relishing in the heat of the body pressed against my back, and the heavy arm draped over my waist. A small smile tugs at the corners of my mouth and I snuggle in closer to Adam. A soft growl comes from him, making his chest rumble and I frown. My eyes quickly snap open, and it takes a second for them to adjust. I look around the room and my frown deepens. Where am I? This is not our bedroom in the apartment. I glance down at the arm draped over me and a hollow feeling settles into my stomach when I realize that it is not Adam's arm. I swallow hard and slowly glance back over my shoulder. My eyes land on what is probably the most handsome man I have ever seen in my life. I always thought Adam was extremely attractive, but he is no match for this man. Flashes from last night begin flooding my brain and I can't help but blush. I can't believe I did this. Oh god... Where is Spencer? Where are my things? I begin to panic, but I spot my bag on the floor. I slowly lift the heavy arm, trying not to wake him. He grunts, and I freeze, but luckily he just turns around and continues to sleep. I quickly slip out of the bed and my eyes begin scanning the room, looking for my clothes. I find everything but my panties and I begin frantically looking for them. The man on the bed shifts and I freeze again. "Well, I guess I'll be going commando..." I mutter to myself before reluctantly straitening. I try to fix my messy hair, but when he shifts again, I decide it is not worth it. I quickly grab my bag and head out of the room, closing the door softly behind me. I quickly rush down the stairs, digging my phone out of my purse. I see about a dozen missed calls and a few messages from Spencer and even more from Adam. I ignore his, and I quickly tap on her name, calling her back. She answers on the first ring. "Ava! Thank god! You're okay! Do you have any idea how worried I have been? What the hell happened to you? I came back from the bathroom, and you were just gone! Where the hell are you?" She scolds as soon as she answer, I winch, pulling the phone slightly away from my ear. "Jeez, Spence! Just calm down and stop yelling, please?" "Excuse me? I have been going crazy trying to get a hold of you, and you want me to calm down?" She hisses at me and I sigh. "I'm sorry okay. I did something stupid." I mutter and for a few seconds there is nothing but silence. "What happened?" She asks quietly and i sigh again, running a hand through my hair. "I hooked up with the guy from the bar." I say softly, and another short silence settles between us before she speaks again. "Where are you?" She asks softly and I look around us. I spot a coffee shop and I quickly make my way over. "I am at The Grind. The one near the bar." I say as I slide into a booth. "Stay there, I am on my way and when I get there, you better have ordered me a coffee." She mutters before hanging up without waiting for an answer. A waitress smiles at me and comes over. I quickly order two café mocha's and two country breakfasts. It isn't long before the door opens and Spencer steps inside. Her eyes scan the room and I stand. Her eyes snap to me, and she quickly makes her way over to me. "Thank god, you are okay! I was so worried about you." She says, pulling me into a quick hug. I pull away, and I give her a small smile. "I'm okay. I'm sorry I just disappeared last night." I say as we both take a seat. She sighs. "It's fine..." She begins, but then shakes her head. "Well, no, it's not, but it's already done. All that matters now, is that I found you and you are okay." She says just as the waitress brings over the food and our coffee. "My treat for worrying you." I say with a smile as she takes a sip of her coffee. "Well, it is the least you can do after everything." She mutters before giving me a small smile that I return. We sit in silence for a few minutes, both of us just drinking our coffee. "Adam was at my apartment waiting for you when I got there last night, so you were right about not going there." She says after a few minutes and I look up at her. "What did you tell him?" "That I dropped you off at another friend of ours and that I was just there to get myself some clothes. He didn't believe me, so I let him into the empty apartment, and when he saw that you really weren't there, he kept trying to convince me to take him to you. He wouldn't leave until I threatened to call the police." I shake my head. "I'm sorry." I say with a sigh and she shrugs with a small smile. "It's fine, really, because I gave him a piece of my mind and finally told him what I thought of him." She says, a bit smug, and I can't help but laugh. "So, your first one night stand, huh?" She asks teasingly and I wince. "Please don't remind me. I can't believe I did that." I murmur, running a hand through my still slightly messy hair. She laughs softly. "Me neither, but it happens to the best of us. Just tell me you were at least safe?" She says, and I choke slightly on my coffee when the image of me rolling the condom onto him flashes through my mind. My cheeks heat up, but I nod my head. "We did. He was pretty adamant about it." I say, and she nods her head, letting out a relieved sigh. "Good, because a surprise pregnancy is the last thing you need right now." She says and I nod my head again. "Tell me about it..." I murmur, pushing my food on my plate. Spencer lowers her mug to the table and grins at me. "So, how was it? Tell me everything." She says, and I laugh even though I feel my face heating up again, and I begin to tell her about last night.
