Chapter Nine – The WalkersAs spring turned to summer, Geoff began to settle in to a new routine at the foundry. Work was steady and new staff had been employed, which now offered him the flexibility of starting earlier in the mornings and setting off home an hour earlier in the evenings.
Now that baby Godfrey was starting to notice the exciting world around him, Geoff decided to use this extra time taking his son on a tour around the village. Together they explored the hedgerows, saw wild animals frolicking in the fields and used the time to catch up with the other villagers. Geoff had never been one for idle gossip, but he was more than happy to while away some time chatting about the weather or the latest events taking place at the village hall.
Of course Olive was delighted with this
