Chapter 36 Crazy escape

1026 Words
“Well, you seem to know a lot about animals. Are you a vet?”   Lily thought Vera was just talking nonsense. She did not expect that this thirty-year-old handsome guy really knew a lot about this field. She wanted to get close to him to talk more about it.   But at that moment, the two remaining dogs suddenly stood up and growled in a low voice. At the same time, their fur was growing at an alarming rate and their teeth were getting sharper and longer, like a dagger. The collars they were wearing snapped as their bodies grew larger.    “What the f**k? What are they doing?”   Seeing the eyes of the two police dogs slowly turn to a strange blood red, put everyone in a panic. Even the stupidest person could sense that something was very wrong. This was not a movie. They really were witnessing an ordinary-sized police dog mutate then kill its trainers, in front of their very eyes.      “This is insane. Attention! The dogs are the targets, shoot them!”     Although Captain Dempsey was a little hesitant, he was experienced in dealing with emergency situations. No matter how crazy the situation, he knew the dogs were a threat and had to be taken out   Unfortunately, his response was too slow. Just as he pulled the trigger, the mutated dogs moved. In a flash, there came a miserable cry from another police officer. A huge dog was tearing him into two pieces, separated at the waist.   Under the influence of gravity, a pile of intestines fell to the ground like broken sausages. The other dog stuck its mouth right into the wound and pulled out the dead cop's stomach and liver like a bunch of rotten grapes.    Janet and Lily started vomiting. After seeing this bloody, disgusting scene, they lost control. They puked up all the food they had just eaten. For a moment, they now realized how fake horror movies were compared with this. They even lost the ability to scream in this situation because fear had taken control of their bodies.   After killing the first SWAT team, the two dogs didn't seem to want to stop. Before anyone could respond, they flung themselves into the crowd of officers that had come from outside as backup. They killed and injured more than a dozen SWAT team officers in just a few seconds.   It got so chaotic that the air was literally filled with spraying blood. The violent dogs had turned a tidy room into a disgusting hell. Everyone fled in all directions. Shots fired amid a wail of shouting, cursing, crying, and screaming.   “Dr. L, where are you?”   In the chaos, Captain Dempsey looked around for Dr. L. and soon he found him on the other side of the room. The cowardly man was escaping down to the basement. In front of him were Richard and Anthony, also running downstairs.   "Have you got the medicine?", Richard asked as he and Anthony ran wildly together.   Anthony handed over a backpack to Richard, then asked, “What is going on? Did you know that this dog would hurt people?"   "Stop talking and keep running. Don't make any noise in the basement. I'll explain later."   Richard tried to keep calm but he was also scared. Just as he had guessed, the four dogs began to mutate. One of them turned into a common mutated creature and was nearly killed by Captain Dempsey. But what about the other two? There was only one explanation for the sudden and drastic change in the body shape: it was a new kind of mutation. Of course, Richard had seen mutant creatures before but the chance of two animals mutating into the same kind of giant dog was so slim.   Things had completely exceeded Richard's estimations. He didn’t know for sure what was normal and what wasn’t. But the two large dogs were feeding on the policeman with brutal ease. He knew that the people outside were doomed. At the beginning of Doomsday, this kind of mutant creature was completely invincible. Even if the cops had fought back and killed one of them, the other one would have killed everyone in the room.   In fact, from the point of view of mutation, this was a completely new creature, a fearsome beast whose hunting instinct was above and beyond any mammal humans had ever known.   A few guns with guys could not win the battle, so Richard knew they had to hide. He must wait at least until the two creatures had enough food. In this period, Richard would take the activation portion to become mutated himself. Only then would he have the confidence and ability to fight the two mutant dogs.   Richard pushed open the heavy iron door to the basement and the first thing he saw was Mary’s anxious face behind the gate. There were another man and four women also in the room.   Their faces were covered with grease, dirt , and excrement while their mouths were sealed with tape. They tried to call for help, their bodies twisting on the floor. Seeing someone new come into the room gave them hope.   “Let’s talk inside.”   Outside, the sound of gunfire gradually died away and there were no curses or cries. Undoubtedly, the two mutant dogs were frantically feeding on the bodies of the survivors. However, when Richard was about to close the door, a thin hand suddenly shot through the gap between the wall and door, blocking it from closing. Through the crack of the door, the thin, dirty face of Dr. L appeared and he shouted to Richard, “Let me in! I know the hostages are in there. Let me in!"   “Let go or I will cut off your hand!”   Richard's face flushed with anger and he picked up a sharp Nepali hunting knife nearby. It was one he had prepared in advance. It had a sharp opening and was made of very strong material. It could cut through an entire animal; a human hand would be nothing.
