The man that was positioned between my legs was ripped off of me. His head was completely severed from his body. 'SolSkin, did you see what it was?' I asked her shaking in fear. But, I get no response from her, she must be very focused on healing my injury. I tried to get up when I felt a warm body atop me. An ashy blonde wolf placed himself over me in a crouched low position. I smiled and scratched his neck. I knew this wolf very well, "Malachi." I all but whispered to him.
His worried eyes looked down on me. The scent of blood was thick and heavy in the air. I heard a faint buzzing in my head, a familiar sensation that signaled the worried mind links from my other pack members as they tried to locate me, or perhaps my poor Beta was reaching out to me. Recalling that I had sent him a message about the rogues just before the attack happened, I was jolted from my thoughts when I felt a cold, wet nose nudge me on my cheek. I was so tired, the amount of blood I had lost had to be liters. SolSkin was doing her best to heal me, but my injury was indeed profound, and I was nodding in and out of consciousness.
"Alpha Memphis, we are closer to my pack and my pack's hospital. We should take her there." The mysterious deep voice spoke softly. I felt Malachi move off me, and I could hear bones snapping back into places telling me Memphis was back in control to talk to whomever it was. "We need to stop this bleeding or she will not make it to any pack or hospital," Memphis said with concern laced in his voice. "Memphis," I mumbled out. "I have to get my team, Joce and her sisters, Coach. I need to go to them!" I started to panic and willed my body to move with tears streaming down my face in concern. "Oh, Freya. Your team is safe now." I felt strong hands scoop me off the forest floor. This wasn't Memphis, Memphis scent was teakwood and vanilla, this was ocean mist and sea salt. "Come, Alpha Memphis." was the last thing I heard before passing out.
I woke up to the sound of hushed arguing. The ceiling was white, the lights were off, and there was a gentle humming of machines. I realized I was hooked up to an IV. 'SolSkin, what's going on? Where are we?' Even though I was unconscious, I knew SolSkin was very much aware of everything that was happening around us to some extent. 'Hmmm... Where to start? So much juicy information. It would be much more fun not telling you and watching it play out.' Great. She was in one of those moods. 'Never mind then.' I huffed out. I was straining to hear the whispered arguing but wasn't having much luck.
The doorknob was turning and I quickly laid back down pretending to be asleep. The scents of teakwood, vanilla, and ocean filled my room. I knew one by heart was Memphis's scent, just the other one.... I vaguely remember this scent but I can't seem to remember where I've smelt it before. "IS SHE YOUR MATE?!" a hushed growl came from the unknown other in my room. "I asked you first!" replied Memphis. "Well, you act like she's your mate, so I was asking an innocent question." spoke the unknown one. "Why does it matter if she is or isn't my mate? I care about her and so does my wolf. If she would allow it I'd mark her and make her mine." Memphis stated. 'Wow, he is a bold one. He is fine on the eyes and his wolf is a strong leader.' 'I feel a (but) somewhere coming along Sol...what is it?' 'Best to wait for a fated mate. Chosen ones are nice and yes can have feelings for each other, but a fated mate. It's like the other half of your soul. Say you pick Memphis and Malachi, what about his fated mate, hmm? And your fated mate will be just as upset if you went with someone else too. I say let's wait and see. Trust me.' A deafening growl erupted from the other male, shaking the floors.
"Now, Alphas, I know I told you that Lady Freya needed to rest and recover in silence. Did I not tell you that?" The authoritative voice rang out in the room, causing both males to grumble in response. "Yes," they reluctantly admitted. "Shall I have both of you escorted out by your Betas?" the voice continued, firm and commanding. "No, that won't be necessary. We are both leaving. Right, Alpha Memphis?" The sound of chairs scraping against the tile floor filled the room as the two Alphas made their departure, their scents slowly dissipating in the air.
"You can open your eyes now. They both are gone, but I'm guessing not too far from you. You must be either a unicorn or something so magical that you have two very big Alphas willing to fight over who gets to carry you into the hospital. It was Alpha Johnathan's Gamma Bjorn, who ended up carrying you in. Which begs me to wonder. Hmm, never mind about that. Can you state your name and your pack please?" 'Well, hello to you too, you are as annoying as a tick between my toes.' I happened to laugh out loud at my wolf commentary only to have the man in the white coat stare at me with raised eyebrows. "My name is Freya Green, I am from Cypress Bay Pack." "Righty, I am Demitri, I am the Doctor here at Harmony Meadows Pack Hospital. Now, can you recall anything that happened before waking up here?" "Um. I remember the track meet. We were running cross-country at Lilac Falls. About 3/4th of the way we were ambushed by rouges. I'm not sure how many were there. We got separated with the fighting." As memories started to flood through my head of the attack, I remember the painstaking look Jocelyn's wolf Cecilla gave me when we both heard the howl from Coach Daniels. Tears were now streaming freely from my face from the uncertain fate of my team. As a future Alpha, I feel like I have failed my pack. "I don't even know if my pack mates are okay." I all but whimper out.
The deafening sound of a BANG echoed through the room as the door was violently smashed open, leaving it hanging by a thread on its hinges. A figure emerged from the doorway - a tanned man of immense stature, towering at least seven feet tall. His hair was an unusual shade of indigo blue, and his eyes, a piercing glacier blue, seemed to bore into my very soul as he stormed into the room. "His voice was raspy and filled with barely contained fury as he accused Dr. Demitri, "You. You made my MATE cry!" SolSkin's ears perked up at the mention of the word 'mate,' and she reacted with uncontained joy, likening her excitement to that of a cat purring loudly.
