Ben’s POV
The door knocks gently but I don’t bother to look up. My eyes are focused on her face, which looks as beautiful as ever despite everything she must have gone through tonight.
She has a wolf… and tonight she shifted for the very first time. The doctor confirmed it pretty quickly after some tests. Her human cells are apparently in the process of mutating rapidly and in the midst of all this change, she’s also dealing with life-threatening injuries. Injuries that have kept her unconscious now for the past twelve hours.
“Officer Warner…” a gentle voice asks questioningly.
I look up into the kind eyes of the doctor who has been checking on Abby periodically over the course of the night and early morning.
