3. A WOMAN SCORNED

868 Words
Camila always had firm beliefs in revenge and karma. She could say that it came from her childhood. Her mother had always encouraged Jessica and Camila to compete, and they didn't disappoint. As a child, Camila was a bit calmer than she was now. But with time and living with an older sister, Jessica, who hated her and did all sorts of things to make her cry. Camila had to get a hard shell and quickly. It didn't take long for her to start to reciprocate her sister's gestures. They were sisters, after all. They had to share everything. Usually, when Camila would go to her mother and complain that Jessica was bullying her, her mother would simply tell her to stand up for herself, and Camila did. She stood up for herself all these years, and she made sure that she was never bullied. There were even times that Camila became the bully. When Jessica was three years old, their mother left Jessica's father and got married to Camila's father. Camila was born not long after that. There were times, very few and far, that Camila felt bad for Jessica and even understood why her sister was so hostile towards her, but that was very rarely. It was not Camila's fault either. Jessica had the habit of stealing everything that belonged to Camila, and Camila would, in fact, make sure to steal it right back. That was why she wouldn't break up with Alex, not because she still had feelings for him, but because she wouldn't let Jessica have him. As for Alex, she would make sure that he felt the exact amount of pain that she did. Her sister's betrayal hurt, but her sister had been betraying her all her life. Their relationship was one that was filled with betrayals and fights and lots of anger. But Alex, Camila loved Alex. She might not have said it to him in the two years that they had been dating, but she was ready to say it then. Camila had known Alex for years, but he was the sort of guy that he was on the sidelines. He was handsome enough to be the light of the party, but he usually enjoyed chilling at his own side. He didn't like people very much. Camila and Alex met officially during a party. It was her parents' 22nd marriage anniversary. Her parents were crazy in love, but more so, her mother, Elaine Anderson, always loved a good party. Her father, Richard Anderson, was a businessman, and he knew the importance of networking. Their anniversary each year was a business meeting of sorts. A reason for her mother to throw a party and a way for her father to make money. She had met Alex at one of those. She was extremely stressed out and didn't want to mingle with any of her father's friends or their children. She talked to Alex first, then. Camila always noticed him, but this was the first time that they had a real conversation with each other. They talked about business and whatnot, and then about the movie that just came out, about the type of music that they liked to listen to. It was nice to talk to someone her age, so refreshingly young. He already knew what he wanted to do with his life. He had so much going for him. Camila knew then that she was going to date him. "Take me out on a date," she said then. It was an extravagant dinner in a gold-decorated, brightly lit hall, and she could see the blush stain his cheeks as she asked him out. Alex raised his hand and threaded it through his hair. His voice was shaking when he answered, "Yes." The memory that always evoked sweet and giddy feelings in Camila made her stomach tighten and not in a good way. She was angry, hurt, pained, and so pained. "f**k it," she cursed as she drove. Her hands tightened on the steering wheel as she struggled to calm herself. The vision of Alex and Jessica entangled in each other's arms came to her again. She had to do something about it. She had to take her revenge. There was no way she would let them get away with treating her that way. It was not okay. Camila promised herself there and then that she would make them suffer. They would feel the pain that she felt in a thousand folds. Camila would wipe that smug smile off Jessica's mouth and she would never again try to take what was hers. Alex would regret all the times that he lied to her. When they would lie in bed together and he would tell her that he loved her, only for him to sleep with her sister. Camila closed her eyes in pain and anger as she thought about it. They would regret it all. Camila would make sure that both Jessica and Alex regretted the moment that they messed with her. She drove into her parking lot and then began to plot all the ways that she could make them pay. Like they said, all is fair in war and love.
