Chapter 15Sid looked around the tiny cabin. It was smaller than the cottage they’d stayed in last night, but it was in better shape, which had guilt welling up inside. This was where Shade had chosen to live, and now she had to move because of him.
“It’s…small.”
Sid glared at Thorn. “She lives alone. It’s a perfect size.”
Thorn raised his hands disarmingly. “You, me, and the beast—it’s gonna get crowded.”
As he spoke, Cognac bumped into the small coffee table Shade had in front of one of the smallest sofas Sid had ever seen, moving it several inches as he walked by.
“Beggars can’t be choosers.” And it was nicer than the cottage they were meant to live in.
“Too true.” Thorn studied him for a few seconds. “It’ll be fine. Shade is resourceful.”
