Barrier
There she stood watching in silence as her boyfriend broke down in front of her still body. His sobs wracked his body and he fell to the ground beside her, he was afraid to even touch her in case she would deteriorate before his eyes; if that was even possible.
She watched as he clutched his hair in his hands and screamed to the heavens. There was nothing she could do. Every time she tried to touch him, to hug him, to comfort him in some way, some sort of force wouldn't allow her to. Frustration bubbled under the surface and she too wanted to scream.
It was all her fault. She had been the one to insist on going on a ride. She was the one who wanted to get on the back of his motorbike and ride off somewhere, to forget the world for a moment and just be with him.
It was her fault. It was her fault. It was her fault.
And now she was paying for the price of it all. She was the one lying on the cold tarmac of the road, bloody and broken. She was the one who had to watch her boyfriend in agony.
It was selfish of her to think of these things. It wasn't just her affected by this, but him as well. He was still alive and breathing. She wasn't.
Could they turn back time? Could they change what happened? No.
How were they to know that a driver would brake too late and ram into them. How were they to know that the motorbike would skid and fall.
It had come to a stop in the middle of the road and Jungkook was left with nothing but a few scrapes and bruises, possibly a concussion. And there was Sunhee bleeding out and close to dying.
She couldn't take this anymore!
Before she was able to try and reach out to him again, the ambulance finally arrived.

Later in the hospital, Jungkook sat next to her bed and held her hand in his own.
"Sunhee, please come back to me," He sobbed. "This is too cruel. You're so young, how could you just die like this? You're strong and you have plenty to look forward to. We're planning on spending our lives together aren't we? We had so many plans. So I'll wait, I'll wait as long as it takes. So please come back to me."
"I'm right here!" The girl's heart hurt as she was only able to look on at all of this.
It was terrifying seeing yourself lying in a hospital bed, hooked up to countless machines - including one that helped you to breathe.
"What was that?" Jungkook jumped up, clearly startled, and looked frantically about the room. "Sunhee?"
"Kookie, you can hear me?"
She took a step back in fright when she saw him look in her direction, like he could actually see her.
"That's impossible, no way." Jungkook shook his head and collapsed in the folding chair. "You're right here, Sunhee. I'm just hearing things."
"But I'm right here!" She pounded on the barrier separating her from Jungkook and begged him to listen to her.
Despite all of her efforts he chose to believe that it was nothing more than his imagination. That what he was hearing was just his way of trying to cope with what was happening. He wanted to keep a firm grasp on reality, even when he felt like his mind wanted to slip somewhere else; somewhere to wherever Sunhee was right now.
She continued to pound on the barrier and then her astral body failed her. She felt herself slipping into a deep sleep.
