Chapter Three

Blues POV * * * As I walked down the side walks of New York, Ive noticed most of the population arnt humans here. Shop owners bar, tenders, drivers, business men/woman, most, if not all, are demons. I look around to see the sun setting and the sky beginning to darken. “I need a place to crash before it gets dark.” I look in my wallet and see I only have a few bucks on me. A sigh escaped my lips. “Well looks like we are roughing it.” I continued walking, looking for any place that was open late. With it being mid October it was starting to get cold. I walked by a pub that had a 9pm to 5am sign on the window. Rubbing my shoulders to get little warmth it provided, I decided to duck into the small bar. It wasn’t very busy but it was also far from empty. I walked over and sat down in a dimly lit corner booth. “What can I getcha’ hun?” I looked up to see a woman in her late fourties’. Honey blond box dye hair and brown eyes. I looked down at the table to look through the small bar menu that was already sitting on the table. “I’ll have uhm...just a coffee I guess.” I smiled up at the woman. “You okay doll?” She asked in a motherly like voice. “You don’t seem like your from around here.” “Oh well, I’m not. I came here to find my-someone-, but it didn’t go exactly as planned.” “Well I hope it all works out for you doll.” The woman gave me a side glance before walking away. I couldn’t really tell but she smells like werewolf. I haven’t noticed many werewolves in the city but now that I’m on the outskirts they seem to be more frequent. The waitress came back with my coffee and a few creamers. I didn’t really want it, I just didn’t want to be kicked out for loitering. I sat in my booth and stirred my untouched coffee. A loud bang came from the front of the building making me jump and spill a little bit of coffee. I looked over my shoulder to see three tall men walking up to the bar. “A few shots for me and the boys barkeep!” The other men were loud and kept rough housing with each other. Until one of them spotted my booth. I turned back around in my seat as fast as I could. The sounds of their boots clicking on the hardwood floors got louder with each step. “What is a pretty little thing like you doing in a sh*t hole like this?” Said the man with dusty brown hair and dull blue eyes. “There’s better places to get coffee then a place that’s run by mongrels and mutts.” “I like their coffee thank you and I don’t appreciate you calling anyone a mongrel.” I stated without looking at him. He sniffed the air around me. “Excuse me what the hell are you doing?” “You don’t smell like them, in fact you don’t smell like any thing other then coffee and vanilla.” He flashed a creepy smile at me. “Are you human?” What the hell is with this guy? You don’t go around asking people if they are human or not. Most humans don’t even know about the supernatural worlds. “Cam, just leave her alone dude. Your freaking her out.” The other man that was rough housing came up and spoke. He had dark black hair and golden eyes. Eyes that would surly glisten in better light. His facial structure was that of a gods. His tall and lean body towered over the other men. His voice deep and soothing and his skin like porcelain. “Hi, I’m Ryder, and this is Cameron.” His hand extended towards me, it’s so big it could easily encase mine entirely. I extended mine to shake his hand, and I was correct my hand was barely visible compared to his. “Uhm I’m Blue.” “Pretty name for a pretty girl.” Ryder stated. “May I?” He asked gesturing towards the empty booth Adjacent to mine. I just shrugged not really sure if I wanted them to sit here. “So, you new here?” He asked while sitting down. Cam followed right after him. Seemingly bored of the conversation. “Yeah, kinda. I only ca-“ as I was speaking a tray of shot classes and cups slammed onto the table. “What’s this? Conversing with a mutt?” I look up to find the man that was at the bar. His dark brown hair and brown eyes showing rage in them. “Well how does it feel little b***h, you caught my boys attention, now it’s time to be on your way. We don’t appreciate your kind on our turf.” “Hey, Vic chill out bro. She isn’t causing any harm.” Ryder tried to defend me. “Besides Vic she ain’t a mutt. She’s human. Which is so boring.” Cam yawned. “So human, how does it feel to be surrounded by the things you fear the most?” Vic’s voice whispered into my ear. “I’m not sure what you are talking about. I don’t fear anyone, especially you. You can have the booth I was only in here to get warm.” I stated trying to get out of the booth but Vic stood firmly in the way. “Oh so you don’t know what we are?” Putting his hand on the back of the booth and leaned forward. Vic now mere inches from my face and is completely blocking my exit. I began to worry that I may have put myself in a bad situation. “Vic come on dude, don’t play like that.” Ryder started to stand up from his seat. “Blue do you have a place to stay or somewhere to go?” I wanted to answer him because he has been the only decent person thus far, but with how his friends are, he can’t be trusted either. I sucked in a sharp breath and looked away from Vic. I can sense it, what these guys are, between the smell of booze and tobacco. I’m in trouble.
