Chapter 6   Sara's pov “Ugh! There has to be an easier way to warn Jane!” I growled out to my wolf. "Sara calm down! He will feel your panic too!" She hissed back. "I know Riley! I just need to make sure she is safe!" I was near tears, the pack doctor is under Rick's control. He has been ordered to give me wolfsbane everyday to keep my wolf down and me weak. Only doing it for 17 years had been making me build a tolerance to it. It hardly affects my wolf anymore, the only issue is that I haven’t been able to shift. Dr Willis knows and refuses to say anything to Rick about it. He lies to him about it thankfully Rick doesn't seem to even care. The Wolfsbane still keeps me weak but I have been able to talk to my wolf for the last ten years. "I feel stronger today. Maybe it means we will be able to shift and we can leave." She said hopeful. "I don't know Riley, I'm still weak." I could feel how weak I felt. My arms and legs felt like blocks of lead. "Part of that is because our poor excuse of a mate is abusing us." She said with venom in her voice, she hated Rick as much as I do. However, his wolf is another story. "I know, we need to get out of here, but I'm not sure how to do that. It took me six years to convince him to take the bars off the windows. It would take even longer to convince him to stop the wolfsbane or let me leave the territory." I said. I looked into the mirror, my once black shiny hair is now salt and peppered, more salt than pepper, and dull. My eyes are sunken in with dark grey bags under them. I put my head into my hands and groaned. Suddenly my door was flung open and of course the devil himself was standing there. He stalked towards me and grabbed my wet hair. “Oh, I should have come earlier. I missed a great opportunity.” He leaned down and smelt the hair in his hand. "Ugh, can't you ever knock, and maybe not touch my hair?" I can’t stand when he just barges in here. Hell, I can’t stand when he is in the same room as me, let alone touching me. He roughly grabbed my throat from behind faint sparks erupting. "No, I don't have to knock on my mates door, and I can touch her how I please." He had an evil glint in his eyes. "Now I have some questions for you and I expect you to answer me." He roughly turned my chair around to face him leaning me back. I put my hand on my, now aching, throat. "I have nothing to say to you." I spat out at him. "I had hoped you'd say that." He grabbed me by the hair and ripped me out of the chair. I knew what was coming, he was going to torture me to get what he wanted. Same old Rick and his tricks, he threw me onto the bed and put each of my wrists into silver chains. "I want to know where my little girl is." he said in a said in a sickly fake sweet voice. I looked him in the face and spat on him. "Hm I can't wait for this! Sylvia!" A woman roughly my age walked into the room. "Let me guess another one of your little whores?" she chuckled, but her eyes did not seem thrilled like her body language was. "Honey, I'm his one and only true love. You're just here for appearances." I locked eyes with Rick and I wondered if she knew that he came in here nearly every night to satisfy his needs. I looked back at her and it looked like she was trying to relay something to me. "Enough, she will be performing a locating spell on you to find our daughter." I started struggling against the chains. "Like hell she is!" I screamed at him. "Why are you doing this? You had an amazing pack! Why hurt our daughter for nothing but power?"  “Something isn’t right about this witch. Her eyes say one thing and her words and body language say another.” I didn’t say anything in return, thankfully Rick was paying more attention to the Sylvia b***h than he was to me. She looked me square in the face and smirked, she began to walk towards me away from Rick. She winked at me, as he began to yell at me. "That's my business!" He walked towards Sylvia and ran his finger over her neck. "Do it, so we can go celebrate." He nipped at her ear as he said the last word. I could see her holding back a grimace, she doesn’t care for him does she? She probably just wants his power. "Why doesn't she do it to you? You're supposed to be her father!" My irritation was growing, I didn't want him to find her. "Because you held her in your womb for five months you have a closer physical connection to her than I do. Not to mention how much it will ruin you knowing you had a hand in revealing her location." The evil smirk on his face was enough to make me sick.  He kissed Sylvia’s neck, “I had her location a few days ago, but she managed to escape from me. Now I need to know where she is going.”  Oh my goddess! He almost had her once, how did he know where she was? I did my best to keep that information to just myself. The witch walked up to me and I growled at her. She put her hand on my forehead and slammed it backwards into the headboard and laid her other hand on my lower abdomen. I looked straight into her eyes and for a second I thought I saw regret, or remorse maybe? As soon as she started her chant I felt a hot searing pain flood through my whole body. I bit my lip to keep from screaming, her chanting stopped but the pain continued. I opened my eyes to look at her and she was looking straight ahead, her eyes glowing a bright green. The pain was increasing as whimpers left my mouth. Then I screamed, black dots blurred my vision then I realized the link is wide open to Jane. "Jane, Jane! you have to find your mate before your father finds you!" I could hear other voices like I was there with her. That's never happened before. "Jane what's wrong?" He sounded worried. "Ahh, my head! It hurts so bad! Make it stop Jace! Make the voice stop!" "Jane, you have to find him and mate with him before your father finds you! There is a spell-" I didn't get to finish as the link was forced shut. As the pain dissipated I looked at the stupid witch. She had a smirk on her face, "thank you for her location." she turned and walked towards Rick, "come my love, I need a map." Her eyes met mine one more time and she seemed like she really didn’t want to do this. He looked at her and her face completely changed. He grabbed her hand and pulled her out of the room, slamming the door shut behind them.  I hung my head in disappointment, "Riley, they knew I had found how to contact her." I was stupid. "It's not your fault! Don't ever think it is!" Her voice was reassuring. "If I wasn't so weak none of this would be happening right now!" I knew what was happening when I felt the burn start in my chest, they were going to have s*x. Thank Goddess it’s with her and not me, for now.  "Sara, you need to shift now!" Riley’s voice was urgent. "Riley we are in silver chains, it won't work." I chuckled a little, her determination was funny when she knew we were stuck. "Sara stop, look at your wrists." I could feel how giddy she was to have a chance to get out. I tilted my head up and realized there wasn't any pain there. "We could actually shift." "He is preoccupied, now is our chance! This is what the moon goddess was saying to me! I would know the right time to go and it's now!" I focused on my wolf, for the first time in seventeen years I could feel myself shifting. It didn't hurt like I thought it would. "It doesn't hurt, the moon goddess told me she blessed our first transformation to be painless. She said we had suffered worth a hundred first transformations." "When did you talk to the moon goddess?" I asked her confused. "I will explain when we are out of here." She said hurriedly. Once the shift was over I stood up and was a little wobbly at first. I looked down at my paws but they weren't black. They were white. "Riley, why are we a different color?" "It’s because of the amount of wolfsbane, after so long it starts to affect our physical appearance as well." "Whatever we need to leave!" Riley pushed forward and took control. "Get to her Riley and don't stop!" I took the back seat and watched through Riley’s eyes. "You don't have to tell me twice!" Riley jumped off the balcony and took off running toward the Eastern border; following her instincts to find our daughter. Paws could be heard behind us. "Riley go! Jerome is catching us, again!" I am Luna of this pack, screw this, it’s time for everyone to know what he has been doing! "Stop chasing me Jerome!" I linked him; it was the first time I used my Luna voice. He slowed to a stop, "I am sorry Luna! I didn't recognize you!" I turned to face him, standing tall. All the other wolves followed suit and stopped as well. "None of you will tell the alpha I am gone. For seventeen years he has been giving me wolfsbane to keep my wolf at bay, my wolf now being a different color should be enough proof to what he has been doing. Now you all need to choose, stay and support him as your alpha or follow me and protect your future Luna, my daughter!" I could hear growls coming from all of them. We turned and walked to the border. "If you wish to stay you have been ordered not to say anything if you wish to come follow me!" We continued to walk and we could hear them behind us. As I got to the border I looked to my left and right and saw every wolf that was chasing me standing on either side. Thirty wolves in total. "When we leave they will all know. We run and we run fast." "Luna, half of us have mates that are on their way here. They will be here in just a few minutes as well as our children. Where are we going?" "We head towards Pennsylvania, to the Alpha of the rogues." I looked towards the forest and saw more wolves and children. Way more than I thought. Nearly a hundred wolves. In the link I could hear all of them. "We pledge our loyalty to our true Luna, Sara Richardson!" They didn’t use the Alphas surname, that meant that they were rejecting him as their alpha.  "Everyone grab a child, it's time to go. We head east to Pennsylvania, to my brother, the Rogue Alpha!" I said through the link, I watched as Jerome's head snapped in my direction. He must not have expected me to inform all of them.  “Marcus is the Rogue Alpha?” It was one of the warriors that had trained with Marcus when we grew up. I nodded my head and he grabbed one of the bags and came to stand near me. His tail was wagging slightly, he must be excited to see Marcus again. "Everyone keep in a group we are going to go fast! Link if any problems arise!" Jerome's voice came through the link. I'm on my way, Jane! With that thought in mind we all took a child or rucksack in our mouths and we ran as fast as we could! I knew he would be able to feel once we all stepped over the border. It won’t be long before he realizes just who and how many have left.
