Julia's POV I lay in the darkness, my body aching from the rogue's kick.Over a sudden, I was laying down, powerless on the bottom of a certain hill.I was awakened by too much light that came my way and stopped right in front of me, I tried as much as I could to peek through and see whoever it was“Who are you?”I asked “I am serene my child, the moon goddess” “You are not supposed to go through this pain, you were chosen to a greater purpose”She said touching me from head to toe. “What do you mean, mother godess.I'm too weak, that's why my mate even rejected me.Why am I this weak?”I asked and she let out a laugh. “Well, I gave him a gift and he didn't handle it with care.He lost you then he will have to suffer.” “I don't understand” “You will, when the time is right my child. Now it's time to get out of here, you've been here for too long”She said and I got up. The pain I had before was all gone.I had lost all sense of time, unsure how long I had been held captive. Suddenly, I heard the sound of rustling outside the tent. The flap opened, and a figure slipped inside. "Come on, we have to get out of here," a low, rough voice whispered. "Who are you?" I asked. "I'm Max. Come on." "Where are you taking me?" I asked. "We have no time for that; we need to move now." I hesitated, unsure if I could trust this stranger. But something about his tone put me at ease. The stranger grabbed my arm and pulled me to my feet. I stumbled, my legs weak from lack of use. As we emerged from the tent, I saw a group of rogues closing in on us. There were five of them, their eyes gleaming with a feral light. Max pulled out a knife and positioned himself between me and the rogues. "Stay behind me," he growled. The rogues charged, their movements swift and deadly. Max met them head-on, his knife flashing in the moonlight. He took down the first rogue with a swift kick to the stomach, followed by a s***h to the throat. The second rogue tried to attack from behind, but Max spun around, his knife slicing through the air. The rogue dodged, but Max was relentless. He pinned the rogue to the ground, his knife pressed to the rogue's throat. The remaining rogues hesitated, unsure of what to do. Max took advantage of the momentary distraction to dispatch the third rogue with a swift s***h to the chest. The last two rogues turned and ran, disappearing into the darkness. Max stood panting, his chest heaving with exertion. He turned to me, his eyes gleaming with a fierce light. "Are you okay?" he asked. I nodded, still trying to process what had just happened. "Y-yes," I stuttered. Max nodded and offered me his arm. "Come on, I'll take you to meet our Alpha." I took his arm, still feeling a little dazed. As we walked, I couldn't help but wonder what lay ahead. Who was this Alpha, and what did he want with me? Max seemed to sense my unease and gave my arm a reassuring squeeze. "Don't worry, you'll be safe with us," he said. But as we approached the Nightshade Pack's territory, I couldn't shake the feeling that I was walking into a whole new world of danger.
