Ano ba naman CL magtrabaho ka nga!

Wala akong ginawa sa OR kung hindi ang isipin si Luca. Naiinis talaga ako. Nakailang beses akong masita ng surgeon sa ginagawa ko kaya pinaka safe na gawin ang mag observe na muna.

Kaya heto ako ngayon sa labas kasama ng ilang mga matataas na opisyal ng hospital. Ofcourse most of them are doctors. Naghihintay kami na magsimula ang isang very rare case na operation na gaganapin sa MNH mismo.

A first-ever separation of conjoined twins at Mercy National Hospital. Dahil sa kapalpakan ko kanina I became one of the lucky audience. Ako lang naman ang naiba. The rest ay mga veterans doctors who held a very important position in the hospital.

What will happened is a very rare case. Delicate one. And very complicated. Some surgical challenges included dividing large veins and brain matter that connected the twins so they could have independent circulatory systems. The team performed a fistula ligation, a process that involved clipping and separating shared veins.

"Barya lang yan sa kaniya. You're his girlfriend hija?" Tanong ng katabi ko na babaeng Doctor. Nasa fifties na rin 'to. At ngayon nakatingin sa akin at nag-aantay ng sagot ko.

Ang haba nga ng tinagal ng operation. May naghatid naman ng mga pagkain sa loob. Iba nga lang ang pagkain na binigay sa akin. May pa special treatment pa ang isang 'to na nalalalman. Kinain ko naman kasi masarap. It's like an arab food. Ngayon ko lang natikman.

Mercy National Hospital successfully separated the nine-month-old conjoined twins Fatima and Mikaela Alkatahni in a marathon surgery. The two girls were craniopagus twins — born fused at the head, a condition that occurs approximately only once every 2.5 million births.

The 24-hour surgery — the first separation of conjoined twins at MNH— took place in a MNH Neuro Surgery Department operating room custom-built for the procedure’s high complexity.

Team members included more than 30 surgeons, nurses, anesthesiologists and other key surgical staff lead by a pediatric neuro surgeon, craniofacial surgeon and Chief of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery; director of pediatric anesthesiology and Children’s Surgery Center nursing team.

Kahit ako na nanuod lang I really felt exhausted na halos ayaw ko ng maihakbang ang aking mga paa. I'm thankful that I've been part of that historic event in our hospital.

Tiningnan ko ang pangalan ng tumatawag. It's Doc Allen. Kaya hindi na ako nagdalawang isip na sagutin ito.

Me:

[Yes, hello?]

Allen:

[Oh, did I interrupt something? My bad. Sorry, I'll call later.]

Me:

[Wala Doc, ako lang ang sumagot. He is with me. Tinatamad lang sagutin ang kaniyang phone.]

Allen:

[Ah, yah he is tired. We all are. I'll call again next time hindi naman urgent. I thought wala siyang kasama. Take care of him. Enjoy.]

Me:

[I will. Bye Doc!]

"Whose that?" Parang lasing nitong tanong sa akin. Sobrang pagod talaga niya. Pero malibog pa rin. Naramdaman kung binigyan niya ng mumunting halik ang aking leeg. Pataas at pababa.

"It was Doc Allen. Come on let's go. Uwi na tayo. Huwag dito please."

I will drive his new car. It's a Tesla Model Y. Diffenitely a new one. Ngayon ko lang nakita. Iba kasi yong last time. He loves car. One thing I like about him.

I am the one driving and we are on our way to GA Executive Subdivision. Mabilis lang ang naging biyahe buti na lang at walang traffic. Luca is in deep sleep. Pati ako ay inaantok na rin.

We went to the terrace after we ate. Nasa may second floor ito ng bahay. Dito tanaw na tanaw ang ibang bahagi ng Maynila. We appreciate the view while we drink some tea para naman matunaw ang mga kinain bago kami parehas na maligo.

"Can I take you out for a date? Or let's have a vacation?" He suddenly suggested.

And suddenly my phone beeps. It was Kuya Rennon. Napatingin ako kay Luca dahil nakatitig siya sa aking phone. Hindi ko alam kung bubuksan ko or huwag na lang pansinin since hindi naman urgent dahil text message lang. Ngunit sa di katagalan bigla na itong tumawag. His name appeared on my screen. Kuya Rennon:

[Caily? Andyan ka pa?]

Me:

Kuya Rennon:
