Chapter 5 - Curiosity Kills The Cat

Paige P.O.V

I finally get everything sorted and get Max what he needs, I look up to see that i am the only one left in the office. Gemma left at 4 to get ready for a huge date that she will probably be at now. I'm feeling so exhausted from such a stressful day that I can't wait to go home and just sleep. My day dreaming of being home asleep stops when my phone rings it's Max. "please give me some good news to end this dreadful day Max" I say in a pleading voice.

"well after all your hard work and my work mens hard work everything is completed" he says in a happy voice although I can here he is just as tired as I am.

"you bloody star..I owe you a drink for working that ass off" I say in a relieved voice.

"I will hold you to that Paige, thank you for your hard work too and speak to you soon" he says with a yawn.

"Bye Max get that well deserved rest!" I say as I put the phone down. I am so relieved that something actually worked out today. I'm surprised I didn't have Mr Dodd on my case checking up on me but I'm guessing he is too busy catching up with Declan. Thinking about Declan I wonder if he is going to tell his father what I had called him in the Elevator. Just the thought makes me want to be sick as I would definitely be jobless.

I look at the time it is nearly 9pm, I just need to photocopy this file and put it on Sian's desk so that Mr Dodd can have it in the morning to see we are still on-time and in budget. I sort the file out and make my way to the desk, as I put the file on her desk I see her bag, I look around but then I can hear slapping noises and moaning. My curiosity made me look between the bit of glass that is not frosted for Mr Dodds office and I had such a shock to see him ploughing into a very naked Sian. I slowly back away and quietly hobble to my desk to get my jacket and bag. I log off my computer quickly in a fluster and then I turn around and nearly collide straight into Declan.

"oh - gosh" I breathed in a fluster and nearly fell over.

"we really should stop meeting this way of me needing to pick you up" he smirks.

"most certainly" I say quickly grabbing my bag.

"why you still in the office it's so late" he questions.

I give him a run down brief description of making sure I meet the deadline today to keep on schedule with the project.

He looks at me impressed and smiles "your a good worker Paige"

"thank you" I blush and start to move from my desk. I stop and look at him as he is starting to walk up to his dad's office.

"Declan" he turns around and looks at me

"yes" he looks puzzled as to what I am about to say.

"about our conversation earlier, I'm so sorry for calling your dad .. my boss a Arsehole and a son of a b***h" I look down feeling disgusted with myself and continue "It was very unprofessional of me and I understand if you have to let him know" I'm now looking at him and see a smile on his face.

He takes a few steps forward "Paige do not apologize I'm sure you have your reasons to say those things, I wouldn't worry I won't tell him" he says with a smile.

"thanks Declan" I say softly

"Go on get home and get some rest you look like you need it" he says as he starts to walk back up to his father's office.

I then remember what is currently happening in his father's office and turn around again "Declan" I say my voice a little more urgent. He turns around now looking confused "Paige?"

"This is going to sound strange but can you trust me and just not go to your father's office?" I say with wide eyes in the hope that I don't have to explain what I seen.

He gives me a puzzled look "why is that Paige"

"well ....erm let me say he is not alone" I say in a shaky voice and feel my cheeks turn red.

"ohhhh I see.. how you know this?" he questions.

I was thinking of my answer when we both hear really loud s*x noises coming from his office now. I will be surprised if Sian hasn't lost her voice tomorrow after the way she is screaming out Mr Dodds name. I am now feeling even more embarrassed and just want to get out of the office so I start to walk to the Elevator. I hear footsteps behind me so gathered Declan thought the same way...I held the door of the Elevator for him to get in.

I was still so embarrassed of what I just heard let alone seen and he is not even my dad, I look up at Declan and give him a smile.

"pretty f****d up right?" he says as he looks at me.

"just abit" I giggle.

He looks at me "Sian?"

I nod yes to him and he just lets out a angry laugh, at that point I feel hurt for him. "what a bloody day hey" I say and nudge his shoulder.

He looks at me and smiles, I look at the car park and only see my car and Mr Dodds car.

"How you getting home? " I look at him.

"plane haha nah taxi to the hotel im staying at I will call one now"

"I can give you a lift I really don't mind?" I say as I give him a smile.

"That would be fab actually" he says as he smiles down at me. Just that smile makes my heart flutter, he really is such handsome man.

We get in the car and I make my way to his hotel, we talk about work until we get outside the hotel. He checks his phone and sees a message and laughs.

" you are right tho Paige he is such an arsehole as he has just messaged me saying how's the hotel I would of come and had a drink but I had to go home as had a migraine see you tomorrow son" with an angry tone and he slams his phone on the dashboard.

"so sorry Declan for once I don't like being right ..." I say honestly and he looks at me.

"I seen Sian's desk, she is married and it still doesn't stop my dad"

I look at him and give him a soft it's okay look as I really don't know what to say.

He grabs his phone "thanks for the lift Paige...also can you not say anything about my dad to anyone, it's hard enough trying to fix his mess but don't want gossiping around me with it" he looks at me.

"ofcourse, don't worry I wouldn't dream of saying anything, wouldn't want to give your dad the reason to sack me" I give an awkward giggle.

He looks like he was going to ask me something but changed his mind as he gets out the car and waves goodbye.

Declan P.O.V

I watch Paige drive off and wave one last time, it was really nice of her to give me a lift as I still haven't received my rented car yet. It was still worth getting the private jet down as for me it would have been one hell of a drive from Edinburgh. I get into my room and I just feel so much anger and rage towards my father.

A married woman has to be a new low although from how he treated mum I don't think he even thinks about the woman's marriage as he wouldn't ever think of his own. My poor mum always says there was always more than 2 in her relationship as he could never keep it in his trousers. The man completely broke her and I would never forgive him for that. I haven't seen him in person for over 5 years and the first night I'm in London rather than come catch up with me in the hotel bar he is too busy getting his d**k wet!

I'm now even more determined to get the information I need for the business and then fly back. I just hope that this news doesn't go round the office whilst I am there.

Even though I don't know Paige I feel like I can trust her not to say anything.

Thinking of Paige I can't work out why my dad has a huge problem with her. She is such a hard worker, after my tour of the building I was going to go and see if she was okay from her fall but every time I looked out my office door which is just set behind her department I could see and hear that she was just so busy all afternoon. I will drop her name into conversation with the old man tomorrow see for myself what his issue is.

Why am I caring so much I think to myself, I then convince myself it's because of how hard she works and how little appreciation she receives.
