Diana's tear-filled eyes frantically search for him once she gets inside her room but can't find him right away. He's not in the bedroom. He's not in the bathroom. He's not in the closet either. Maybe he's out on the balcony. Maybe he left. As he should. He should leave. Maybe it's for the best. She sobs at the thought, unable to control the deluge of confusing emotions that she's feeling. She leans against the wall and closes her eyes, letting the flood of sadness, anger and fear wash over her. Jacob hears her sobs from where he's been lying on a chaise lounge on her balcony.
