When Emma wakes up in a hospital room after a crash she doesn't remember, her mind quickly spirals as she realizes all traces of her boyfriend have disappeared.

“Where is Lucas?” I asked in a panic, trying to keep calm.

Mason looks at me with a worried expression and immediately I go hysterical. That look can only mean one thing- Lucas is dead.

Everything rushes back in that very instant. I went out to dinner with Lucas and he surprised me with a beach picnic while we watched the sunset. We had a great night but Mason thought I was with my friend Kelsey and on the way back home, the car in the lane next to us swerved and hit us from the left. As soon as I felt the impact, everything went black.

As the memories rushed back, I began crying and screaming for Lucas, needing to find out if he was here or even alive. My brother rushed to my side, putting his hand over mine trying to calm me down. He looked terrified, like he had no idea what to do.

After what felt like hours, I calmed down enough that Mason felt comfortable to speak. He looked a bit hesitant about what he was about to ask but after closing his eyes, running his hand over his face and taking a deep breath, he looked me in the eyes and whispered “Em, who is Lucas?”

Prologue
*2 weeks ago* I sat on the edge of my bed and tied my shoes, listening for the familiar faint rumble at the end of the road. As I heard it, I grinned. Checking my appearance in the mirror one last time, I see my semi-tan skin glowing, my light brown wavy hair falling perfectly around my shoulders, and my green eyes popping against my mascara-covered lashes. My phone buzzes as I pick it up, a text from my boyfriend, Lucas. I squeal when I read it. "I'm here, pretty girl." I grabbed my purse and ran outside, making my way down to the end of the road. As I approached him, he pulled his helmet off and I smiled even wider. "Hi, baby!" I grinned, wrapping my arms around his neck as soon as he's off of his motorcycle. I pulled myself onto my toes, pressing a quick kiss to his lips. "I've missed you," I said softly even though I had just seen him a few hours prior at school. "Hi, baby girl. I missed you too." He smiled down at me, pressing a kiss to my forehead before pulling back and grabbing the motorcycle helmet he bought for me about a month ago. He slips it onto my head, buckling it for me before slipping his own on and helping me onto his bike. "Come on, Em. We have dinner plans," He grins before slamming his visor shut, knowing it always drives me crazy when he plans surprises but also knowing that I love how much thought he always put into them. I wrapped my arms tight around his waist, my fingernails brushed lightly over his abs through his shirt, sending a shiver down his spine. He started the bike back up, I pressed a soft kiss to his shoulder before tightening my arms around him in preparation for him to take off.
