FALLING APART

CHAPTER 2

In the morning, the class was required by the professor to do a research project about “The Philippine Presidential and Vice Presidential elections for the year 2016”. The project is for individuals and needs to be submitted after two days. As a good student, Jezz is doing all her efforts during her vacant time to finish her project. When she is about to finish it, it is more difficult for her because she is not confident in her work. It makes her stressed as she reviews the paragraph.

In the evening as usual, she was watching a series but she had to hide under a blanket just to let her parents see that she was in her deep sleep. Because they notice that Jezz is always late to wake up in the morning, until they find out that it was because of the lack of watching drama series on her cellphone. Now, her parents are becoming stricter in her young age, and they want Jezz to sleep as early as possible for her class the next morning. Jezz has a prosperous life with her parents. They worked hard in the market to support her studies in college. So even though she is not that smart, she takes her grades by joining extra curricular activities of the school.

In the morning, while eating her breakfast, she decides to ask for assistance from her best friend, name Zero. Luckily, Zero replied on her text and confirmed that he will assist her. Zero give an advice to Jezz to get her project in the afternoon to the house where he rented a room.

Zero and Jezz is a best friend couple since their child hood. They are about 3 years of age gap. So Zero is even older than Jezz. Jezz, is a second year level in college at this time, while Zero is currently taking his on the job training at one of the popular bank of the town. He will be soon a graduated student of the school.

After class in the afternoon,

Jezz, went to Zero’s boarding house not far from her school.

When Jezz, got in front of Zero’s boarding house, there was an old man sitting in front of the house near the main door. He told Jezz, that she is not allowed to enter inside the house because the house is exclusive for boys only, visitors is not allowed except the parents. So Jezz couldn’t do anything so she sends a text message to Zero to let him know that she is currently waiting for him from the outside of the house.

When Zero came out, Jezz saw that he was currently walking with a man at his age, as they walked going through the leaving area. Her judgemental mind said;

" For the two of them, Zero is much taller than him he was with. Zero is a smart looking guy, while he is a simple but so damn hotty guy , ohh Emm Jee! how lucky I am, if I have this two guys"

When the two men approached Jezz, Zero introduced his best friend Jezz to his male companion.

“Jezz, this is Kent my friend” Zero said.

Jezz was stunned by the two of them.

“Hi, how are you?"

Jezz replied in a soft voices.

The guy named Kent had a cute smile and he held out his right hand, a sign that he would like to make a hand shake with Jezz as their first meet up for each other and said,

“Hi, nice to meet you”.

Then Jezz and Kent made a hand shake. After that Zero envites Jezz and said,

“By the way Jezz, why don’t you come with us for lunch? I’ll take the charge.”

Jezz didn’t hesitate to agree because that’s the only time she can talk to Zero. He is on duty for his training on the next morning and in the evening he still has one class to attend.

On their way to the nearest restaurant, Kent and Zero, who were walking with Jezz, were having a good chat. There are some of their topics that Jezz don’t understand, because they use a word in a sentence that only the two of them can understand. Jezz made over think of it so she never minds them, and let them talk for a while until they reached the restaurant.

The restaurant is small and they sale food for an affordable price as indicated on the tarpaulin they have seen, from the outside. They both go inside and proceed near to the counter to check the menu. they saw the orders of food from other customers they served. It looked so delicious, so Jezz whispered to Zero for the type of food that she wanted to eat that time, so Zero held some money to Kent and Kent initiated the order and made the payment. Then Jezz and Zero left the counter and searched for a table that fit for the three of them.

“Jezz, by this time, just eat a lot and don’t pay attention to what Kent and I are talking about, okay?”

Zero said with a serious face. While the two sat in a corner with a small table. Jezz nodded and smiled as a sign that it was OK to her.

While Kent was queuing at the counter, there was a group of men entering that small restaurant. They looked around as if they were looking for something and stopped their gaze at the counter and Jezz noticed them.

"Hey, you’re the one named Kent, right?"

One guy from the group said.

“Yes, I am. How may I help you?

Kent replied in a gentle voice .

After that, the one guy who talked to Kent earlier, suddenly punched Kent on his face on the left side, it was the first one. When Kent was hit, his head had directly tilted to the right side and hit the table, causing his dizziness and bleeding. Fortunately, he managed to hold on to the table so he was able to balance his body and wouldn’t fall to the floor.

Due to sudden events, Jezz shouted at what she had seen. Then Zero turned his face to where she was looking at. when he saw Kent with a bloody head, he immediately stood up to go to Kent. But before Zero could get close to Kent, the man who was obviously very angry with Kent had another punch at Kent. At this time, Kent fell on the floor.

“Hey! You, what are you doing to my friend?

The loud voices of Zero approached the man who punched Kent, while the other guy and other customers who witnessed what happened had nothing to do with that time, including Jezz. She couldn’t help Zero and Kent because she was preceded by fear, and she didn’t know what to do while she just stood and broke.
