CHAPTER 5-THE SYMPTOMS

At this state, the “vampire-side” of him will try to take over his body, since the “vampire-cells” were very aggressive. A vampire-cell is usually very active and dominant, and it will take over the body so it will become a complete vampire when it reaches full maturity. That’s why hybrids need someone to guide them when they are still very young, so after they grow up whether they will stay on their human-side or fully become a vampire. There was one time, when his master, brought him to the forest to find some firewood. At that time he was five years old, but with the appearance of a fifteen-year-old kid. They saw a bunch of mountain wolves feeding on a small deer. Keita was amazed by that view, not because he was in pity of that deer. However, he was amazed by the blood coming out from the deer’s body. He was stunted and didn’t move at all. He kept staring at the blood that spread around the ground. Suddenly, he was thirsty for it. His master kept calling him but he didn’t hear it. His master is trying to drag him away as afraid they will alert those wolves then it would be dangerous. However, Keita didn't make a move no matter how his master called him or even dragged his arm, until Keita was annoyed by his master and he made a hissing sound at him. He was shocked when he looked at Keita’s face as Keita’ both eyes turned to yellowish color and his fangs started growing a little longer than normally and also with “elf-ear” looks. For the record, for a complete vampire, usually their eyes were both red. But for a hybrid, both eyes were yellowish. This is one of the physical differences between a complete vampire and a hybrid. He knew there was something wrong with this child's body. His master knew the current keita wasn’t him anymore. He was something else. Maybe this is what naohiro said about the vampire. This was his first time seeing a sucker (vampire) in his whole life. Then suddenly, Keita jumps at his master as he is going to suck on his blood. His master quickly pushed Keita away and took out his tranquilizer gun and shot at Keita, and it worked. Keita has been put into a deep sleep. Luckily, Tengen always carried the tranquilizer gun which was given by the reverend, just in case he needed it. For this moment, Tengen has survived from a horror situation that almost put his life in danger. However, Keita doesn’t remember anything the next day. He asked his master, but his master only told him that he was spaced out when he looked at those wolves that were feeding on the deer and later he fell unconscious. Maybe he was afraid to see so much blood in such a terrifying incident that he never saw before. It would be natural if some human could experience this kind of thing. Since then, his master knew that Keita wasn’t just a human, but there was something else inside him. His master was confused as he didn't know what to do; as keita still had the side of the human, it was impossible for him to kill keita. Surely, the reverend who was Tengen’s acquaintance has told him how to eradicate a sucker if he really encountered one in the future. However, how could Tengen end Keita's life, as someone that he raised since he was still a baby? On the other hand, he also can't let Keita hurt anybody else. Tengen knew he must do something before the situation got worse. Day by day, as time went by, Keita the “other side” became more persistent to take over his human body. After thinking for quite so long, his master found a way to handle his “thirst”, by letting him drink the animal’s blood. Maybe this is the only way to prevent him from turning to evil; the priest also prepared some fresh animals like chickens and ducks inside the cage, to feed him for once in a while. Since Keita has not fully matured and become a complete vampire, he doesn't need to feed on blood often. However, for Keita himself he still doesn’t know about his “other side” identity yet. After he is fed up, he always falls unconscious. The next day he wakes up, he doesn’t remember anything that happened on the previous night. It always happened like that, when his “other side” took over. That’s why his master decided to hide his identity from him for this moment, even though his master realized he can't hide it forever. But for now, this is the best decision. His master also gave him a katana sword later so he can protect himself in the future. This katana sword wasn’t just an ordinary sword that had been used by the common samurai. It said, the sword has been forged by a special blacksmith. They also used the holy water in the process to forge that sword which was provided by the Catholic reverend, to make a purified sword.
