CHAPTER 3-THE INFECTED

And the-thing started standing up as well. Now Naohiro has driven the-thing into wrath. He turns his head back slowly to look at Naohiro. Then the-thing has gone from his early position and suddenly appears in front of Naohiro and grabs his neck. Naohiro couldn't breathe as the-thing not only grabbed his neck but also lifted him up into the mid-air. He realized he must do something before he died from suffocating. He held his sword tightly and suddenly he slashed up and decapitated the-thing’s hand. The-thing was truly angry and grabbed Naohiro’s shoulder with his other hand and threw him to hit the wall, not only once but a few times until Naohiro had no strength to fight back. Suddenly the-thing grabs his shoulder again but this time not throwing him away, however he bites Naohiro's neck. At that moment, Naohiro could feel his blood was sucking out from his body and he couldn't do anything to stop it. He thought it might be his last day on earth today. Suddenly, a bunch of navy soldiers appear. One of them even shouted and called out the-thing by the “Vampire”. Then they immediately fired at the vampire with their rifle simultaneously. The vampire has no choice but to drop Naohiro down to the floor. Even the bullets don't cause any effect on the vampire, but the vampire quickly transforms into many bats and disappears from there. Nobody knows why the vampire runs away as it's not that hard for him to eliminate those navy soldiers. Maybe the vampire has his own reason. Then the navy soldiers bring the samurai-riots members who were still alive to the British hospital. Naohiro had heard faintly when those navy soldiers mentioned the vampire before he fell unconscious. After midnight, Naohiro wakes up and finds out he was lying in a strange place. He quickly sneaks out of the hospital and runs back home. His pregnant wife, who's going to give birth next month, saw her husband go back home in panic.

Naohiro’s wife: “What’s wrong, my dear??? Are you okay???”

Naohiro: “I’m fine…” (heavy breathing),

His wife saw him breathing heavily and sweating a lot, and was very worried.

Naohiro’s wife: “But you are sweating a lot. Are you really okay???”

Naohiro: “Yeah, fine…”

Naohiro’s wife: “Are you sure???”

However, this time his wife called him again, not answering anymore. He just silently nodded his head. When his wife calls him for one last time, suddenly he raises his head up, his eyes turn red, his fang grows longer with mouth open wide, and the ‘elf-ear' looks. His wife was so frightened as she saw his husband's face changing. She doesn’t know what that is, but definitely not human. She screamed out loud spontaneously when she saw her husband changing, especially the fangs which were sharp and long. Without talking anymore, Naohiro jumps at his wife and attacks her. She's screaming again before Naohiro’s fangs are piercing through his wife’s neck. Not long after, the neighbours heard his wife screaming, they were afraid if there’s any thief or burglar getting into Naohiro’s house. People came in droves to Naohiro's house for checking. Surely, naohiro vampire hearing can hear the sound of people coming from afar. When the people got into his house, Naohiro was already gone, by breaking out the window. They found nobody else except Naohiro's wife lying on the ground unconscious. Even though she's dying, as the water broke, it seemed like Naohiro's wife was going to give birth. The people don't know what to do. A moment later, the Japanese constables arrive and they quickly help by bringing Naohiro's wife to the labour clinic. Naohiro’s wife is still holding on to her life with one last breath. The labour physician told the people that she might not be able to survive if she gives birth. Then slowly she opens her eyes and tells the physician in a weak voice.

Naohiro’s wife: “Please save my baby… Don't bother me.”

The physician: “But you won't survive…”

She insisted to the physician to save her baby no matter what. So the physician has no choice but to grant her wish. It's better to keep one alive rather than let both die. In short, the baby was born and it’s a boy. And Naohiro's wife breathed her last after her child was born. Certainly, Naohiro followed those people who saved his wife to the clinic. He watched from afar as he was very worried about his wife's condition and the baby as well. He realized he had hurt his wife even though he didn't want to, as he had no choice. He can't control the demon inside of him. For the record, any human can turn into a vampire in two conditions. Firstly, if they drink the vampire blood directly, they will definitely turn. Secondly, if they get bitten by a vampire, as long as their blood is not sucking dry, they will turn. It’s because the vampire’s fangs contain the venom that can change humans into vampires.
