Chapter - 4

Lily and her mother Shelly goes to the room to see why the kittens were crying.

When they saw the kittens they assumed that they were crying for their mother. They did not know exactly why the kittens were crying but they guessed, probably they were missing their mother and they might be hungry and they might be asking for milk but unfortunately their mother was not around them. The little kittens were not able to see if their mother was around them or not as their eyes were still closed. As they were not able to feel the warmth of their mother they might have realised that their mother was not with them and they were missing their mother.

"Mom, what do we do? Kittens are crying. Probably they are hungry.", said Lily.

"Yes Lily, you are right. Let's do one thing. Let's feed the kittens with a small feeder.", said Lily's mother Shelly.

"But mom from where do we bring the feeder? I have never seen one.", said Lily.

"There is a shop nearby and I have seen the feeder in that shop. So, I'll quickly go and get it. After that we can feed the kittens with milk. They might definitely feel better.", said Lily's mother Shelly.

"Oh! that's great. I'll come along with you. Let's go get it. ", said Lily.

"Okay sure. Let's go.", replied Shelly.

Lily and her mother goes to the near by shop to buy the feeder in order to feed milk to the kittens. After half an hour later Lily and her mother Shelly were back home with the feeder which they wanted to buy.

They went to the kitchen and filled milk in the feeder and decided to feed the kittens with the milk so that they would feel better and stop crying.

Firstly, Lily held the kitten in her hand and Lily's mother Shelly slowly poured the milk with the feeder into the kittens mouth drop by drop.

When the kittens started drinking the milk they felt very happy. Lily and Shelly fed the kitten until it was full. Once one of the kittens was full they did the same process to another kitten as well.

The Other kitten also drank the milk with the help of the feeder and its stopped crying too.

Lily and Shelly were very happy that their trick worked and finally the kittens were not hungry and also stopped crying. After all, they were tiny little kittens. They fell asleep as soon as they were done drinking the milk. "Mom, until the cat comes back let's feed the kittens in the same way.", said Lily.

"Yes Lily. For sure. Until their mother arrives we can continue this process. It's very difficult for the kittens to be away from their mother in such a tender age. So, until their mother comes back we'll take care of it as much as possible.", says Shelly.

"Yes mom, I too feel the same.", said Lily.

Time was passing but the cat had not come back at all. Lily and her parents were eagerly waiting for the cat to come back to her kitten but unfortunately there wait did not come to an end because the cat did not come back. The entire day was passed and it was almost dark. The kittens were awake and were hungry again. They were crying with hunger and also because their mother was not around them. Lily and Shelly once again with the help of the feeder provides milk to the kittens. Once they did so, the poor kittens stopped crying and again weng back to sleep. Lily and her parents were feeling very bad for the kittens. They were eagerly waiting for the cat. At that point of time they were ready to accept the cat as well if it would have come back but unfortunately does not come back at all.

"Lily! Shelly! the cat has not come back yet. It's already late. It's going to be almost a day now. I am worried now. Why hasn't the cat come back yet? What do we do about the kittens?", Lily's father Max said to everyone.

"Yes we are also thinking the same. We are very much worried for them. We felt sad and very bad for the poor little kittens. They always cry for their mother and when

they feel hungry too.

But for now we have found a solution whenever they cry for their mother and whenever they feel hungry we feed them milk with the help of a feeder. Once we do that the poor kittens falls asleep.

But until when we can do this? One day or the other day they need the mother right? ", said Lily's mother Shelly.

"Yes, I agree with you. The idea that you and Lily has implemented here is amazing. Great job. I am glad that you both are feeding milk to the cat. If you guys have not done it then definitely the cat kittens wouldn't be alive.

", said Lily's father Max.

It was almost 11 p.m. It was time to go to bed for them. They were disappointed that the cat had not come back. Lily had opened the main door and was continuously looking outside for the cat. "Lily please come inside It's time to go to bed.", said Shelly. "Yes, I know mom. I know it's late but I am unable to sleep. I am sure I won't get sleep until the cat comes. I will sit here and wait for the cat. You and dad go sleep please. ", said Lily.

"Lily I can understand your situation. Even your father and I are feeling the same but we cannot sit here for the whole night, right? Let's keep the windows open and go to bed and let's hope that the cat comes in from the window. Cats can come from the window so you need not open the main door and wait. Tomorrow you have to go to college, so you need to sleep well, right? I know you are my good girl. Please come inside and sleep my dear Lily.", said Lily's mother Shelly while hugging Lily.

"Yes mom you are right. Let's keep the windows open. I hope the cat comes in from the window. I hope by the time I wake up in the morning the cat should be in front of my eyes. I would be the happiest person if that happens.", says Lily and goes with her mother to sleep.

Lily was a obedient girl and she obeyed her mother and went to sleep.

The lights were turned off and they three slept. The kittens were under the bed.

Even though they were laying down they were unable to sleep. They all three were continuously worrying about the mother cat snd also about the kittens. They were feeling bad too. Meanwhile, they were scared of the landlord who hated pets. It was a difficult situation for them.

During that time they did not have much money to shift to the different house too. It was a emotional rollercoaster for them.

After a long time of thinking they finally fell asleep with a hope of a good news in the morning.
