Chapter 1
"Hailey...." A soft voice called near her ears, it sounded like a Melody from a beautiful guitar.
It was familiar but distance this time around, a little farther than it used to be.
"Hailey!.." the voice again, called this time in a hush tone.
Her forehead twitched and she opened her eyes, she was lying on the bare ground.
She could feel an ugly fright boiling in her somewhere and her tommy churned, she suddenly started to feel a ghost wind around her.
Her throat was burning and like a negative response to a prayer, the wind started howling like a crazy storm and the leaves from mighty trees roared like ocean waves.
She tried to get a hint of where she was but she could not, it was too dark to see what was infront of her.
She felt a wall with her hands and hid behind it, covering her face with her palms, it was scary and dreadful.
The sand that rose from contact with the wind swept across her like canes from a wicked mentor but she did not budge, it was crazy to think of running, where would she run to when she could not see in the darkness.
Whatever was in the dark must have sensed her as the wind stopped howling like a supernatural power complled it and the leaves that were dancing with violence moments ago suddenly halted but that was not all.
"Hailey...." This time, the voice got close as though it was right in front of her and she felt a cold chill ran through her system, she felt like a surge of electricity drooling in her body.
Despite the fear that swept her over, she released her face from her palm, it was slowly and her hands trembled.
She was not sure what she wanted to see, maybe an ugly monster or a demon but she was surprised when she could see through the darkness. It was still night but her eyes saw through it.
She could hear strange sounds from a distance, it was like a bird singing but the song was strange, it had the tune of a woman wailing.
She moved from behind the wall and followed the sound as though it was magnetic and her feet seemed to have a fore knowledge of where the sound was coming from, strangely she could not question her feet.
She walked a distance down an unfamiliar route until the wailing stopped and everywhere went quiet, as silent as a grave yard.
She looked around her, it was a vast land and unfamiliar as well, a little distance from where she stood, a lonely building stood decent in the plain land.
She looked back thinking of where she was when she heard a sharp painful sound from the building, it was full of pain so raw that she could taste it.
It was crazy and dangerous, she advised herself a dozen times not to go close but something in her was too powerful to resist and whatever it was, it had an unquenchable thirst for curiosity.
Slow yet steadily, she made her way and found herself lurking behind it's wall.
Sh leaped towards it's window and found a view that was clear, there was a pot boiling on the fire inside.
A man was sitting by the fire and an elderly woman was sitting besides a sulking beautiful young lady, she was disheveled but her beauty was clear, she had long hair and she looked exhausted from crying.
"Karina..." the elderly woman spoke in a comforting tone. "This won't bring back your child". But beautiful lady was silent, she kept gazing at the boiling pot.
"Karina.." the older lady was truly concerned.
"What do you want me to do Helen?" Karina turned and looked at the woman.
"She is my only child".
It seemed words were stuck in her heart, too much to say. "She is my world". Karina blurred ot bitterly.
"The Amber's will pay for this" The man by the fire stood up and paced, he was against lifting the spells earlier.
"The Amber's and the witches" Kelan added "I will burn this world until I get Xavier's head wherever he is" full fury was evident in her voice.
"The gaurds didn't see anything or anyone?" The man asked the older lady.
"It was at midnight, the spell boundary had been lifted and the manticore's spelled them". Helen answered, it was stupid to let down the spell boundary but they had to.
Hailey could not make out what they were discussing but Karina had a face burning with fury and her eyes were red and swollen.
The room was quiet for a while and Hailey wanted to turn from the scene when Karina stood up like a possessed woman and went over the boiling pot and stared, a lifeless stare.
The steam coming from it was grey, Hailey wondered what was in it, it was uncovered and boiling fiercely.
"Karina my love" The man went over to her placing a hand on her shoulder "I promise to make them pay" he swore.
His eyes were blazing with fury even though he looked calm, Hailey could tell that something sad had happened to trigger the emotion in the room.
Karina however did not respond, she went to the bed, took a towel on it and threw it into the boiling pot then she rolled the sleeves of her silky dress and exposed her bare wrist.
"No..." The man half screamed holding her hand.
"Yes.." She said in a surprisingly calm voice. "I will do anything for my child".
"Do you know what this would mean?" he asked.
"I know and I must".
Karina was definitely possessed Hailey said to herself, she was not sure what Karina was up to but it couldn't be something applaudible.
"Karina are you mad?" Helen too was shocked.
"Better to be mad than to be a Coward" Karina retorted, she was struggling to jerk her hand out from the young man's grip but she suddenly halted. "Someone is outside the door".
Hailey could feel her heart sink in the minute Karina said that and before they could catch her eyes, she took off.
It was an open land with nowhere to hide at first but when she stopped to catch her breathe, she found herself in a forest, it had long trees and lot's of log lying carelessly.
How could this be? She asked herself but instead a cracking sound answered her question.
It sounded like trees falling to the ground and it was very much infront of her.
Unable to decide wether to run backwards and end up falling into the hands of the three people she was running from or charge forward and collide with whatever was in front, Hailey ran behind a close tree and hid.
There were more cracking sounds that came closer and she felt herself coiling in but then everywhere went quiet, a sudden silence that bothered her to the core of her being it was a tormenting silence.
She could hear her own breathing loud enough, her heart beat was worse and it frightened her.
She closed her eyes tight and held her hands against her ears.
"God!" she prayed this can't be happening and in that moment a hand tapped her from behind.
