Chapter 5: The need to find you

1180 Words
Cole P.O.V It had been a long wait, but the day of the baby shower had finally arrived, and the house looked like a scene from a horror movie. There were a lot of women rushing around in all different directions, trying their best to get everything ready for the important event. I was standing smack dab in the middle of everything, and I felt completely out of place. I had never been one for all this baby stuff, and I couldn't understand what the fuss was about. I had never even been around babies. I couldn't help but roll my eyes as the other women around me cooed and aaaaahed over baby onesies and shoes, and I couldn't help but join in on the fun. To me, the whole thing seemed completely absurd. After that, however, I happened to catch a glimpse of a onesie that was especially cute out of the corner of my eye. I couldn't help but smile when I saw that it was infested with a variety of critters. I'll admit, behind your back, that the onesies were kind of adorable looking. As I sat there and observed the other women in the room gushing over the baby clothes, I couldn't help but feel a sense of coziness and warmth wash over me. This was a celebration of life, of new beginnings, and of the hope that tomorrow will be better than today. And despite the fact that I didn't fully comprehend everything that was going on, I was aware that it was a momentous occasion that would be cherished for many years to come. I had no doubt that the triplets were working hard to find a way out of this predicament, especially in light of the events that transpired at the most recent baby shower that they went to and attended for Jennifer. They were thrilled to find out that they were going to be fathers, but they were not interested in participating in the celebrations that took place at the baby shower. When I looked out the window, I noticed Domonique wearing a small headband with a unicorn on top of it, and Rick was walking around wearing a small cloud and rainbow, making him appear to be a very feminine version of himself. I found this very amusing. As I looked at them, I couldn't help but burst out in fits of hysterical laughter. It was a sight to behold to see the tough, alpha males of the pack dressed up in outfits that were so ridiculous. Nevertheless, as I continued to keep a close eye on Domonique, I noticed that she was leaving the backyard with an excited expression on her face. That was very strange... where exactly was she going? As I watched her get further and further away, I couldn't help but feel a twinge of curiosity about what might have happened to her. "You know, by the time you finally find your mate and have to go through all of this, we are going to be the ones laughing at you," the man said. "You know what I'm talking about." John remarked with a tone that betrayed his amusement. "I mean...have you seen the shirts that our mother is making us all wear?" He pulled the shirt up over his head and held it in front of him, revealing that it was a bright pink shirt with the words "I'm with the baby" emblazoned across the front of it. I couldn't help but laugh at him when I saw what he'd done. This had to be one of the funniest things I'd ever had the pleasure of seeing in person. Tolerating the sight of my tough, dominant brother dressed up in such a ridiculous shirt was simply impossible for me to do at the time. I was so taken aback by the beauty of the scene that I immediately pulled out my phone and snapped a picture to preserve it for all of time. John has just given me an angry look that is meant to serve as a warning. But I was confident that his rage wouldn't last for very long. After all, we were siblings, and we had weathered everything together as a unit. Before I sent the picture to Domonique, I just stood there and made a defensive gesture with my hands. The voice note that had been left by Domonique arrived not even two minutes after it had been left. "Oh, my goodness! " I'm not sure, but I think that has to be one of the funniest things I've ever come across! The sound of laughter and happiness emanated from Domonique's voice, and I couldn't help but crack a grin each and every time I heard her speak. The sound of her voice was calming and reassuring all at the same time, just like listening to one of my favorite songs. "By the way, I am currently walking out the door...It's imperative that I go out and purchase some components for Jennifer's outfit for the baby shower as soon as possible! The continuation was made by Domonique, whose tone of voice was ripe with eagerness and anticipation. I could just picture her now, frantically running around town in search of the ideal outfit to wear to her best friend's upcoming baby shower. While I was listening to the voice note that Domonique had left, John kept on griping to his brothers about the t-shirts that they were required to wear. The triplets' horrifyingly terrified expressions gave the impression that we were about to enter a new war with more of August's evil spawns than we had previously encountered. They were a large and dangerous set of triplet alphas, but a person wearing a t-shirt depicting a unicorn had no effect on them at all. I could tell they were receiving a mind link because all three of them had their eyes covered with something similar to goggles. Soon after that, I found myself being drawn into it as well. "I really need someone to come and assist me in descending the stairs! And you, Cole, get out of here with your rear end right now! If the five of us are going to have to go through this...then you are going to have to go through it with us as well! The moment I heard Jennifer's voice booming through the link, I was helpless to stop the shivers that were running up and down my spine. Ever since she found out she was pregnant for the first time shortly after the war with August, she had become more menacing whenever she became angry. I was aware that it was important to maintain a positive relationship with her, particularly now that she was carrying triplets. I hastened my descent to the basement, where I discovered Jennifer patiently waiting for me. She was showing off her growing baby bump in a pink dress that was both flowy and figure-hugging. In spite of the fact that she was angry, she shone with charm and beauty.
