Daniel stood silently, studying the mists around him, just as he had since being stranded. He had no idea how long had passed, only that it felt like an age. Most of his study was carried out using his powers, not sight, but the results were no different — nothing anywhere within his range and nowhere to go to. He seemed to be on a silent plain with no hills or other undulations. It might go on forever for all he could tell.
He didn’t want to move too far from where he’d started. He didn’t know if any new portal would need to be opened in the same area, but if it did then he needed to be close enough to detect it. He’d even tried opening a portal himself, but he had no idea where to start and it was possible one could only be opened with dark power.
