Chapter 28 Josef was amazed by how easily they made their way through the council chambers. Every time a set of guards tried to intercept them the captain headed off the confrontation and argued them around. It was as if he’d come into his own, or was showing a side of him that he’d been keeping hidden. With each encounter a thread of doubt strengthened in Josef. Padros had said that the captain wasn’t trusted. Josef had assumed that was politically motivated… but what if there was more to it. What if someone had learnt enough to worry about the captain?
