Picking up the drunk

844 Words
*Amber* I try waking him several times, but he is out cold. And with the way he reeks of whiskey, I'm pretty sure he is drunk out of his mind. So what am I supposed to do? I definitely don't want him here. I pull out my phone and call Luca, not knowing what else to do. He picks up on the first ring. "Amber, is something wrong?" "Well, kind of... I just came home to find a very drunk Micah sleeping in my bed. I can't wake him up. Can you please come help me?" I know the two men still aren't talking, but I hope Luca will do it for me at least. I can hear him sigh on the other end, and then he answers. "I will be there in 10 minutes, sweetie, and then I will get him out of there for you." "Thank you, Luca. See you." I hang up and sit down to wait for Luca to arrive. I can't help watching Micah. He doesn't look like himself. He has clearly lost weight. He looks like he hasn't shaved for about a week, but it's more the look of a homeless person than a fashion statement. He has dark circles under his eyes, and his complexion doesn't look healthy. There is not much sexy Alpha about him right now. Of course, I have heard about the way he has been behaving lately; the whole world has heard, and I have honestly been worried about him. It hurts seeing him like this; the strong, demanding, sexy Alpha I had known is just a pathetic-looking drunk right now. I hate knowing that he is messing up both his life and his pack; it's so unlike the Micah I knew. When the doorbell rings, I go downstairs to let Luca in. "Thank you for doing this, Luca. I didn't know what to do, and I wouldn't call the police on him; he has enough trouble as it is." "Yeah, last I heard, Luke is one mistake from quitting on him, and I get it; he has been acting like an idiot." Luca looks like it hurts him to think about it too. I shake my head. "But why is he acting like that? I mean, I know he's not as perfect as his image was put up to be, but he isn't like this either, Luca." "Because he loves you, Amber. He told me after you left, and I do believe him. He actually loves you... the bet meant nothing to him." He looks a bit embarrassed. I don't really know how to feel about this. "Well, I'm sorry for him, but he did bring it on himself." The bet might have meant nothing to him, but it meant a lot to me. It had hurt me. *Luca* I walk upstairs, and one look at Micah tells me exactly how drunk my Alpha is. Okay, I'm not going to be able to wake him up, but he doesn't need to go to the hospital either. His wolf will burn off the alcohol. "Amber, can you open the doors for me? Then I'm going to get him out of here," I ask her. She looks a little concerned. "You are not just throwing him somewhere in a ditch, are you?" "Of course not, I will make sure he's absolutely safe, Amber. He might be angry with me, but he's still my Alpha and friend." I smile reassuringly at her. I pick up Micah... Damn, he has lost quite a lot of weight. It's time someone has a serious talk with him, and since Luke has failed, I will have to step up. When I have hauled Micah out of the house and put him in the backseat of my car, I turn to Amber. "I will take care of him. Now go to sleep; you look like you need it." Actually, I'm worried about Amber too. She has clearly lost weight, and she seems tired and on edge most of the time. I'm pretty sure it's because she still loves Micah, so I might have to step in there too. Yes, I still love Amber, but I now know that we are not meant to be more than friends, we are not mates and I regret telling her about the bet back then. I had been jealous, and I have hurt her and Micah so much. "By the way, Amber, are you free tomorrow evening? 'Cause I need a beautiful date for the premiere." I smile sweetly at her. She eyes me, looking a little uncertain. "I could come, but it will be just as a friend, right?" "Of course, Amber, just as friends, and thank you. I will call you tomorrow about details." I kiss her on the cheek. I bring Micah home to my place and put him in the guest room, taking off his shoes and jacket before tucking him in. Micah better be ready to talk to me in the morning because some things will have to change.
