Escaping life is one thing to dream of and another to place in successful motion.

For twenty seven year old tech personnel, Sol. Utilizing the old storage room as their way to escape co-workers and sometimes work all together, on horrible days — when hiding away at home isn’t good enough.

It helps keep their sanity intact — the solitude.

But maybe sometimes it just needs a bit of company — persistent company to light it up a little.

1. Reality
The thought of company wasn’t scary, it did however depend on the situation or room one had sworn to be locked in — alone. It wasn’t a secret Sol disliked social gatherings, everything about it had to do with people and being well, social. So, listening to music in the dark of an old storage room, comfortably sitted on the cold floor just waiting for the event to finish — was a great idea. Might have been the best idea Sol had ever had, the outside world simply a door away yet so far with the music soothing away all worries. Might have been up until there was a continuous clicking from the door knob. Sol was panicking, there wasn’t a way out of any of this and that door was locked, they were sure of that. Not many had access to this room, Sol was well aware nobody did apart from them — so seeking refuge from the wall with a hammering heart, louder than their breaths seemed like the only option. With a back firmly pressed against the wall, the small room suddenly felt smaller than usual — their mind a bit fussy, incapable of making an excuse believable enough, left Sol no other option but to blend in with the room. Meaning, staying quiet as possible against the wall and praying the intruder wouldn’t walk over to where they sat, or stay in the room long enough — an easy task. “f*****g party!” A feminine voice cursed out loud soon after followed a noise of something being thrown on the ground, that Sol would have mistaken as the woman falling if pain didn’t shoot up their knee. Sol’s breath hitched as they tried to hold back a cry in agony, a small whimper slipped out — barely audible but it still had Sol on the edge. Anxious and anticipating “My feet hurt, my head hurts—” Sol breathed out in relief as the woman spoke again, Sol’s presence was still unknown and hardly acknowledged in the dark room. “—s**t, even my jaw from all the fake smiling!” Again, Sol felt something hit them, less painful this time but the pain was still evident on their shoulder. First the heels and now a f*****g purse, would this woman seriously throw everything? “Then just don’t smile—” Sol gasped immediately placing a hand over their mouth, that was a huge mistake and with the silence from the latter, it as great as a response to the abrupt company. Totally f****d An ear piercing scream came from the latter, soon that scream became muffled — barely audible — as Sol had a hand over the woman’s mouth, praying the woman wouldn’t result in their palm being bitten. “Please don’t scream.” Sol begged quietly still holding onto the woman, who eventually stopped screaming and struggling — Sol took that as an opportunity, slowly releasing her mouth. “I’m really sorry.” Crawling back where they previously sat, Sol held their knees closer to their chest still eyeing the woman, even though it was dark — her frame was slightly visible. It was silence, too silence — clearly Sol did not expect the woman to start up a conversation, didn’t expect much but it was very uncomfortable. “Are you trying to find something to stab me with?” silence yet again from the woman, Sol sighed. “I’m harmless, I swear.” they added. Sol was tall, sure, but they were harmless — hopefully that was enough to get the woman talking. “How — here?” Sol didn’t need a full sentence to understand her, she was shaken up — now that Sol thinks about it, sitting in dark was very creepy of them. “I slipped in when you were complaining about the party.” Sol said, sarcastically at that — how else would this woman think Sol was in the room, if they weren’t here first. Silence filled the room again, maybe the woman was not a fan of sarcasm but who would enjoy a sarcastic conversation after nearly having a heart attack. “That’s impossible.” the woman mumbled lowly, almost made it impossible for Sol to hear. With a sigh Sol spoke again. “You found me.” Sol tapped their knee momentarily remembering the earlier incidents. “It was actually your heels then purse.” She gasped. “Gosh! I’m so sorry.” it wasn’t in her intention to hit someone with her heels, all she intended to do was let out her frustration — the stupid co-worker’s and the stupid party were very infuriating. Nervously Sol laughed. “I guess that’s what you get for sitting in the dark.” It hasn’t been long until the room fell silent again, this time more uncomfortable to the point that Sol really wanted to escape. And they would. So with their lips pursed, Sol cleared their throat. “This is very awkward, I will just go.” while standing Sol picked up their jacket laying on the floor. “I’m June!” the woman said hastily in the dark looking at Sol. “My name is June, and yours?” She still couldn’t see Sol in dark but their tall frame towering over her, gave her a image to look at. “Sol.”
