Chapter 28

Cains POV.

----------------------------------------------------------------- Flashback. ------------------------------------------------------------------------

"We have to hide her, Hunter! We can't protect her anymore, he's coming." Sarah, Leas mother exclaims, her voice breaks in the end. She knows he's coming, and she can't protect her baby anymore. We have all tried to hide her from him, but with her powers getting stronger, he will find her soon.

"I know, darling. I have already contacted Kolan. He's on his way." Hunter, Leas father says. My father is his beta and I'm already in training for my role as Aces beta. Ace is Leas big brother and like a brother to me.

"Can we trust him, Hunter?" Sarah asks him. Her emotions is all over the place and Hunter gives her a hug.

"We can trust him, Sarah. He's my friend and he will find a way to hide her." My father steps forward and they talk some more about Lea's power increasing. Ace is also here along with his other brothers, Damien and Dustin. Lea is the only one not being here and she doesn't know what's going on. Her powers keeps getting stronger and Brody, the Alpha of the Alpha pack wants her. I don't know why but everyone is scared and worried.

Brody is a true Alpha, and his pack is small but strong. He only accepts new packmembers if they are Alphas or comes from pack-lines. He has money and a lot of them, that's mainly what attracts other Alphas to join his pack. That and he has a dark witch on his side, promising them powers beyond this world.

"Psst, Cain. Come with me." Ace touches my shoulder and drags me out of the room. We walk down to the foyer and out through the front door.

"We need to tell Lea. We can't keep this from her anymore." He say to me and I agree.

"I agree with you but it's not your place to say, Ace. Your father will have your head if you.." I try to explain him but I get cut off by howls and many of them. A second later, the sirens start and we are under attack.

"Get inside and proctect Lea!" Ace shouts at me and I run inside again and meet Hunter, my father and all the warriors running out while shifting. I run up the stairs to Leas room only to find her missing. I search her entire room and panic starts rising in my chest. I try to mind link her but I can't come through.

I run down the stairs again and run to the trees. I can hear snarls and growls coming from the trees and I shift into Cody. We run into the forest and see blood and fur everywhere. I mind link Ace, telling him I couldn't find Lea. We stop running when I catch her scent. I sniff the air and follow it. I walk slowly through the forest until I see a clearing. I can see Ace and Hunters wolves fighting off 5 other wolves. They take them down with ease.

I walk out in the clearing, ready to run to them when Hunter suddenly gets lifted up in the air. He howls in pain and Ace panics, trying to find the source for his fathers pain. I see movements to my left and see Kolan walking out the forest. He has a devilish smile on his face as he watches Hunters howl in pain. Ace snarls at him and I see Lea running to her father and brother. Ace snarls at her and she stops.

Behind Kolan is a big, black wolf. I recognize him in a second, Brody. The true Alpha. He snarls and run forward to Hunter and Ace. He jumps up in the air and sink his teeth into Hunters throat. I feel the pain in my heart and whimper when I see my Alpha being killed in front of me. Ace howls in pain and attacks Brody but he dodges him easily. Lea joins the fight and Ace tries to shield her. I jump in too and try to help them the best I can. Brody gets a hold on my neck and tosses me to the side and then everything goes black..

I see Lea breaking down. Her breathing gets shallow and tears run down her face at the news of the reason why her family is gone. Nathan tries to calm her down but I can see Blade is about to take over. She snaps her head up and look at me, her eyes is concumed in darkness.

"You lied to me. You said it was a attack by Brody because he wanted my fathers pack! You lied to me! I lost everyone! I lost my parents, Ace, Damien and Dustin!" She screams at me. I know I betrayed her, she's all I have left and I'm all she has left. We are alive because of each other. I love her, more than a sister, she is my life.

"I'm so sorry Lea. I wanted to tell you before the attack but your parents wouldn't let me." I try to explain to her but she only cuts me off with a snarl. I try the last thing I can think off and I let my block down. I allow her to see through my memories and I show her that night. How her parents tried to keep her safe. How Loke told me we had to tell her. How I searched for her, how I tried to help her brother. She stands in front of me like a statue.

"I wanted to. Trust me, Lea. I love you with all my heart and you're my life. I can't live without you in it." Nathan growls at my confession but I don't care. He may be her mate but she's my light in this horrible world. She looks into my eyes and then she hugs me with all her passion. She sniffles and I hold her tight while she cries out her sorrows. I look at Nathan and I can see the pained look on his face. I mind link him.

'I didn't mean to disrespect you, Nathan. But she is my life and I will die if anything happens to her.' He looks at me and nods.

"I'm sorry but I have to go to the hospital. Kyle's in bad shape." Nathan says all of the sudden. Lea lets go of me instantly and looks at Nathan.

"Oh my god, it's my fault. I want to go with you..." She begins but Nathan just kiss her and take her face in his hands.

"I want you to stay here. You can't help him." He says but Lea holds her ground.

"I'm coming, end of discussion." She says and turn to the door. She doesn't give me a second glance and I know she can't forgive me. Not yet anyway.
