CHAPTER 12

:

After finishing the phone call with his mate, beta Jason made his way to Damie’s office. He knocked the door and entered when he heard Damien telling him to come in. Damien’s face was buried behind a pile of papers.

“He man what's up” Damien asked not looking at him.

“Daisy called and I am bringing her back home” he stated and Damien removed his eyes from the papers and looked at him.

“I thought she would stay a little longer with her sisters, is everything okay?” he asked, clearly worried.

“Yes, she is fine physically but she misses me, just as much as I do” he said and you can see the love swirling in his eyes.

“And then I am the one that is whipped” he said sarcastically and both men laughed.

“I don’t want her to stay here so I will try to persuade her to stay in our house and not in here. I don't want to be disrespectful to you or your mate but I must protect her, especially now”

“I understand, now go get your mate and I will make sure the water and electricity will be available in your house by the time you are here”

“Thanks man” Jason said

“Don’t mention it, now go” and with that he dismissed Jason.

Jason left his office a little bit happier as he thought of his mate sleeping next to him tonight.Her beautiful honey eyes staring at him and her messy blond hair around their pillows. Her soft pinky lips that he so much misses to kiss. His thoughts came to a stop when she heard someone talking.

“Beta Jason?” Lily said with a frown

“Oh hey Lily, i didn't see you there” he said and then turned down to look at the girl. She seemed upset and worry grew inside him. Having the hunter girl hurt her was all he could think of.

“Are you okay Lily?” he said trying to not show any signs of worry in his tone.

“Yes, I am not hungry any more but I miss Daisy.”

Jason bent down and stretched his arms to pull her in a hug. He knew Lily loved his mate as much as he did.

“I miss her too, she is coming back home today and you can visit us any time you want” he said and Lily got out of his arms looking at him with a deep frown on her face.

“She is not coming back to the pack house? Did I do something wrong?” she asked sadly

Jason smiled

“No Lily, you did nothing wrong. The pack house is very crowded and Daisy needs peace and quiet to rest and give birth to a healthy pup” she calmed down from his words but she was still upset. Her old friend wouldn't be coming back for her.

“I need to go now Lily, Daisy is waiting for me okay?”

“Okay” was all she said and he moved towards the exit of the pack house to finally be reunited with his mate. Leaving the little girl behind him. The news must have made her upset, as Daisy was the only one who liked her in the pack house besides him and Damien but he knew deep down that the hunter girl would make sure she was okay. Maybe having her around won’t be that bad he thought and immediately pushed the thought away. She is still a hunter, he try to reason with himself.

After picking up Daisy, she was clearly upset, maybe it was the hormones he thought.

“Are you hungry baby?” he said trying to make her talk

“No” she reply instantly without sparing him a glare

“Tired?”

“No” she reply again

“Did something happen?”

“No”

He started to get frustrated with her one word answers but he didn't know how to make her open up to him. They were never like that, maybe at the beginning of the relationship when Roxana tried to break them up but this was so long ago.

He try to grab her hand while driving but she pulled her hand away. Now he knows for sure something is off.

“Baby did I do something wrong?” he asked, waiting for her to let him know what the hell is wrong but she didn't answer. He felt his heart breaking but it wasn't his, it was the mate bond. His mate was sad and heart broken but why? He didn't do anything.

He tried again to touch her but she had the same reaction so he decided to stop and give her some space. Hopefully she will be calmer when they reach the pack’s borders.

“That’s not the road to the pack house” she stated curiosity and worry lacing her voice. A smile crept on Jason’s face hearing his mate’s voice again.

“We are not going to the pack house, we are going home” he said and her eyes grew wide.

“No,take me to the pack house, NOW” she yelled clearly upset

“We can’t go there baby, I want you to see the house now that it's finished. Where we will be staying until the pup comes. Why wait when it's already ready. We can start building the nursing room and have it ready when our pup comes' ' he tries to reason with her without saying the actual reason he didn't want her in there.

She stayed quiet again. Maybe she believed him and was excited with the idea of planning the nursing room. Which she was, he could feel it through the bond.

When they reached the house that he was building for her and their pup, she gasped. Damien was true to his words as he saw all the lights inside the house. He tried to help her out of the car but she waved him off and told him to get her bag.

When they went inside she looked at everything in awe.

“Welcome home baby” he whispered near her ear and hugged her from behind before she had time to pull him away. He missed her a lot and she was too. They stayed there for a few more minutes before she decided to move out of his arms and turned to him.

“If we are staying here I need you to bring me some stuff so I can cook tonight.”

“Stuff.. like what?” he said, cursing himself for not thinking to buy some groceries before picking her up.

“Food Jason” she yelled.

“Okay.. okay” was all he said feeling upset that he will have to leave. but it’s better him than her roaming the streets with two hunters on the loose.

“But you need to stay in the house until I come back. Okay baby?” he asked her before leaving.

“Like I can go anywhere, with the weight I put on” she spat and started to get angry.

And with that he left not wanting to upset her even more.
