CHAPTER 5:

Somebody cleared his throat behind them and immediately made them stop mid way and pull away from each other. James was howling in pain, he wanted to feel his mate close to him again but he wasn't the only one, Semeli felt cold all of a sudden and she frowned. She masked it really fast but Damien already noticed it and he smiled to himself.

“What is happening here, fiancée?” The guy who interrupted them emphasized the word fiancée.

Damien lowly growled lowly,, that's the man who has what belongs to him, his one and only. His mate. He didn't manage to say anything as his mate beat him to it.

“Nothing Sammy,” she said calmly, making her way to him. The guy smirked and Damien was fighting with his wolf for control. He wanted to reap this mutt into shreds for taking what was his.

“Okay then, so when are we eating?” He heard the guy saying again.

“Don’t be rude Sam and introduce yourself” He heard his mate saying coldly to the guy and he smirk, she can’t be in love with him, he thought to himself. He still had a chance to make her his. They both approach him and he heard his mate beautiful voice again

“Alpha Damien this is Samuel Powel-“

“her soon to be husband” he added before raising his hand to shake his but Damien didn't spare him a gaze.

“The kitchen is over there,” he said pointing to his left.

“It has everything you need, make yourselves like… home.” It took him some time to say the word home, like it was painful for him to say it.

“I have some last minute business to attend to that can’t wait. So tomorrow morning we can discuss the treaty, get some rest” He finished off while smiling towards Semeli.

She felt her cheeks warming up and she knew she was blushing so she lowered her head.

When alpha Damien was out of sight, Sam burst out laughing. Semeli grew angry and smacked him on the arm.

“Stop it you i***t” she said irritatedly but she couldn't hide the smile forming from her face.

“Somebody has a crush” he said mocking her

“No I don’t”

“Yes you do”

“No I don’t”

“Yes you do”

“SHUT IT BEFORE I SHUT IT FOR YOU” she said with a low but very threatening tone.

“Okay woman calm your hormones down” he said in fake surrender, trying to hold his laughter.

They made their way to the kitchen and Sam started cooking something for both of them to eat. After a while the little girl she saw earlier appeared again. She froze to her place and sniffed the air, her face turned pale and her eyes watered. She was about to cry. Semeli, without thinking about her moves, went closer to the girl and hugged her.

“Don’t worry sweetie we are not going to hurt you” she whispered softly to her ear and she felt her little body relaxing.

After a few minutes she let her go and took her little hand in hers and tried to bring her closer to the kitchen. After a couple of steps the little girl stopped and hid herself behind Semeli’s legs.

“B-but he -he is a h-h-hunter” she stuttered.

Sam’s eyes widened in shock but he then softened them as he turned to look at her. This little girl was afraid of him but he loved children so much, he would never hurt her.

“I will never hurt you kiddo” he said softly but she didn't move

“I- i don’t trust you” she whispered and her voice broke in the end. She was going to cry now for sure. Semeli turned to face the little girl with a kind smile on her face. She took one of her curls and tucked it behind her ears.

“We will never hurt you sweetie, I promised you. As long as we are here no one will cause you any harm” she assured her. “This is Samuel, we call him Sam for short” she waved her hand in the air, showing Sam.

“He is my fiancé and he loves playing hide and seek” she said smiling and the little girl's eyes sparkled from excitement. Her fear vanished within seconds and she turned her little head upwards to face Sam.

“Will you play with me sometime? The other kids never play with me” she said while frowning.

“Of course I will,” he said back with a smile so wide that it reached his ears. The little girl giggled and ran to hug his legs. Sam responded and raised her up the ceiling and she giggled even louder.

After Sam finishes cooking, Semeli opens the cupboards to find plates and soon she places three on the counter and they start eating.

“I am Lily,” the little girl said out of the bloom.

“I am Semeli,” she replied instantly with a smile.

“What is a fiancé?” the girl asked again and an awkward silent fall in between them.

“A fiance is someone who you are engaged to be married to one day” Sam said the same thing they taught him when he asked the same question so many years ago.

“So he is your mate” she said with an excitement in her tone

“Em.. not really. Humans like me and Sam are not like you, we don't have mates.” The little girl frowned in confusion.

“But.. but if he is not… your mate” the little girl was so confused that she couldn't even form a proper sentence.

“When you grow up, I promise I will explain to you more” Semeli said in hope she will drop the matter.

“So where is your mother?” Sam asked in order to change the subject. Lily’s face dropped and she didn't say a word. Sam turned to look at Semeli and then back to Lily, did he say something wrong? he wondered.

Lily broke the silence when she decide to talk

“My daddy didn't want me so he left me in the woods, I don't know who my mommy is.” Both Sam and Semeli stayed quiet, their hearts broken when they heard the little girl's words.

“Alpha Damien, took me in his pack but he is the only one that likes me except Beta Jason and his mate Daisy. The rest hate me and they never play with me. Some she-wolves talk to me badly and they say bad names to me but I don't know why. Daisy gives me food but she is no longer here” she said again with a frown on her face and sadness in her eyes. Semeli’s heart broke even more.

She scooped the little girl in her arms and whispered in her ear.

“Don’t worry sweetie, you are not alone. Now you have me and Sam too, and we like you very much”

“You do?” she said in shock and happiness filled her eyes

“Yes we do, you are so smart and kind and caring. You are a rare flower Lily” she said and the little girl hugged her tight.

“I am so happy you came, Meli” she whispered and Semeli chuckled at the nickname.
