Elara's Point of View
"Hey," I said as I walked into Clara's new room. Her room was a little smaller than mine. It had a queen size bed, walk in closet, and tv. There was also a couch in the corner. My room had a queen size bed as well, with a walk in closet, TV, and couch, but there was also a balcony that had a view of a garden.
The mansion was about an hour away from the city. It was in a little town. On our way there, we passed a school, a grocery store, and a little shopping mall. We also passed a park.
I couldn't believe that Mr. Black had moved my sister and me in with him, though it seemed like a lot of people lived with him.
"Hey," Clara said. She was putting her clothes in her closet.
"How do you like the room?" I asked
"It's nice. The whole house is nice. It's weird that a lot of people live together," Clara said
"Yeah, it is. I guess Mr. Black lets his employees and their families stay here," I said
"It's also weird that we are in the middle of nowhere. I mean, this is like a little town," Clara said
"I know. Are you uncomfortable being here?" I asked
"No, not really. It's just weird."
Suddenly, I heard a knock on the door and Clara and I looked at each other.
"Mr. Black came back quick," Clara said
"Yep," I replied. There was another knock, and Clara went to open the door. I was shocked to see a woman that looked to be around my age standing there.
"Um, hello," I said
"Hi, my name is Laura. I am Kyle's sister. I just came to meet you. Can I come in?" Laura said. She was beautiful. She had long blue hair with blue eyes, just like her brother. She was taller than me and had an athletic build. She had a sweet smile on her face.
"Sure," I said. She walked into the room, and I closed the door after her.
"You are Elara, right?" Laura asked
"Yes, I am Elara, and this is my little sister Clara," I replied
"It's nice to meet the both of you. You are both so pretty," Laura said
"Thanks, so are you," I replied
"So, I was thinking I could give you both a tour. We have a couple of hours until dinner," Laura said.
"Um, sure," I said, and we headed out of the room. Clara and I walked with Laura as she took us on a tour of the mansion. We started on the inside. She explained where everyone stayed. I was shocked when she showed us the library and movie theater. She told us that the movie theater showed the newest movies. After going through the house we headed outside. There was a pool in the back where a lot of teenagers were hanging out by.
"Thanks for showing us around," I said. We had just went past the rose garden that I could see from out the balcony in my room. Laura seemed like a nice person. She was nice and someone I could see myself getting along with.
"Wow, you have horses?" Clara asked as we walked past a barn
"Yes, one of Kyle's friends ma.... I mean, wives love horses. She used to live on a farm before she moved here and rode them daily. He asked my brother if she could bring the horses with her so that she would feel at home. He agreed," Laura said
"Oh," I said
"Can I pet one?" Clara asked
"Sure," Laura said and Clara walked over to one of the horses
"Be careful," I said worriedly
"Don't worry," Clara said
"It's fine. She will be okay," Laura said. Laura and I walked over to a bench and sat while Clara petted the horses.
"So what do you think about this place?" Laura asked
"It's nice," I said
"So my brother hired you to work for him?" Laura asked
"Yeah."
"What do you think about my brother?" Laura asked
"He's okay, I guess."
"I know he likes you very much. I know you weren't going to take the job at first, and that he even apologized to you multiple times for being an ass. I don't know the details but I know that he wouldn't apologize and make such an effort to get you here if he didn't care," Laura said.
"Hey, what are you doing?" I turned to see Mr. Black walking toward us. It was starting to get dark outside.
"I was just showing Elara and Clara around," Laura said
"I didn't know you were home," Kyle said
"I came home when I found out that we had new people coming to stay with us. I want to introduce myself to them," Laura said
"Of course you did," Kyle replied. They were staring at each other and it looked like they were having a conversation without speaking. Suddenly, they looked away from each other, and Mr. Black's eyes were on me.
"It is getting late. I am sure you and your sister are hungry. I would like to have dinner with you alone so that we can discuss everything. We never really finished our discussion earlier in my office," Mr. Black said
"That sounds like a good idea. The two of you should eat together privately and I will take Clara to get some food. What do you think?" Laura asked
"I will talk to Clara about it," I replied
"It is okay with me," Clara said as she walked over to us.
"Are you sure?" I asked. I wanted her to say she didn't want me to go with him. I wasn't sure it was a good idea for me to be alone with him. I was feeling things I had never felt for a man. Things I knew I shouldn't feel for a man like Mr. Black.
"Yeah, I will be fine," Clara replied
"You two go ahead. Clara will be okay with me," Laura said
